Eric Williams, 46, was booked into jail in Kaufman County this morning, with a $1 million bond. The alleged terroristic threat was made after police searched his home, removing computers and boxes found therein. This was part of their investigation into the murders of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland, and his wife Cynthia, both shot dead in their home (preceded by the killing of Kaufman’s assistant DA, Mark Hasse). Police have not said that Williams is a suspect for the killings — he served as a justice of the peace in Kaufman County until last year, when a conviction on two felony theft counts cost him the job.
Hours before a memorial service for a Texas district attorney and his wife who were brutally gunned down in their home over the weekend, Gov. Rick Perry announced his office was doubling the reward for information leading to the arrest of their killer from $100,000 to $200,000.
