Q: Out of the films you have watched until now which one would you call a masterpiece? Kyo: “The Holy Mountain” (1973, Mexico/US production). It’s simply excellent/Everything is good. That is all there is to say.
Q: Apart from your current work, which kind of job would you like to try? Kyo: Being an evil manager (with a bad personality) who only says mean things to his artists and bitches about insignificant details everyday. Saying something like ‘In the photo shooting the other day the look of your eyes/your expression was strange*’ after the shooting. (laughs)
*I’m not sure about this sentence.
Q: Which cities do you like?
Kyo: In case of Japan anywhere is fine… except Shinjuku. In Shinjuku my shoe soles get dirty, that’s why I don’t like it.
Q: Are you sensitive to things that grow popular or trends/things that spread easily within society?
Kyo: No, not at all. That’s also why I haven’t come to know the news about Samuragochi Mamoru** until later. I saw that they were interviewing a suspicious looking guy on tv and because it was on the news again and again, I thought, ah, this must be popular (laughs).
**Mamoru Samuragochi is a Japanese self-styled composer from Hiroshima Prefecture who falsely claimed to be totally deaf. He was the name behind the soundtracks for the video games Resident Evil: Dual Shock Ver. and Onimusha: Warlords. He claimed throughout his career to be deaf which led to the media dubbing him a “digital-age Beethoven”. In February 2014 it was revealed that most of the work attributed to him over the previous 18 years had been written by Takashi Niigaki. [Source: Wikipedia]
A bit of information from the fans who listened to the short interview with Mikami Hiroshi on Tokyo FM:
三上博史さんがRADIOでsukekiyoのお話していました。→sukekiyoのアルバムでコラボする事になった経緯は？「京さんがずっと僕の音楽を聞いてくれていて、一曲歌ってくれないか？と。僕が音楽をやっている事すら知らない人が多いのに、とても嬉しかった。」と仰っていました。 Mikami Hiroshi talked abut sukekiyo on the RADIO (Tokyo FM). Q: How did you end up doing a collaboration for sukekiyo’s album? MH: “Kyo said that he was always listening to my music, so he asked me to do one song for him. There are many people that don’t know about my music, so I was really happy”.
Mikami: “During the recording I was told to sing this part and so I entered the booth, first I wanted to try it out… so I sang it in totally different way (whisper ♡), and in the end that was used for the collaboration (laugh). I was totally happy to hear that when listening to radio at work as usual~
とw Today’s guest at Tokyo FM, Mikami Hiroshi talked about the time when he received the offer from sukekiyo. Suddenly he got a phone call from Kyo, who asked "could you do one song for us?”. We didn’t know eachother, so why me I asked. He said “Since I was little… I always liked your music”. :)
