Mixed Media Artist Paints Bacteria on Glass Petri Dishes

Washington, DC-based artist Michele Banks creates a contemporary mixed media series that focuses on bringing art and science together in a creative format. She has drawn original watercolor paintings encased in resin on glass petri dishes which have been mounted on aluminium plates on the wall.

In a tribute to the scientific contributions made by the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, DC, Banks has exhibited her work to support the cause of climate change. The glass petri dishes are representative of science which nurtures life and growth, similar to the process of culture growth on the petri dishes in scientific experiments. One of the looming global crisis is climate change, and through her creative art, Banks displays a colorful reminder of how small and insignificant the earliest life forms began yet their unparalleled significance in helping science save lives.

You can find her innovative series in her Etsy shop!

“Before I even meet them, I already know the rumor, because that’s just– it is what it is. It’s society. [Interviewer: That two successful black women can’t get along?] Absolutely. It’s very unfortunate […] People just drill it and drill it and drill it. I always support women […] It’s frustrating to me. But what do I do? […] People make up what they want. I can’t dwell on it because eventually the truth comes out.” - Beyoncé , Vibe (2007)

Here’s the truth: friendships between women are often the deepest and most profound love stories, but they are often discussed as if they are ancillary, “bonus” relationships to the truly important ones. Women’s friendships outlast jobs, parents, husbands, boyfriends, lovers, and sometimes children. (inspiration)

OK…So I’ve been seeing some people who are complaining/upset that Sasha didn’t mention AJ Lee in her promo from Raw. But do you know who else Sasha didn’t mention

These women who unlike AJ are actually being overlooked!! By EVERYONE!

Do you think these women didn’t want a change! Do you think these women wanted the pink butterfly belt! Do you think these women wanted to be a part of the era in WWE that is constantly disregarded!

This is not a hate post about AJ Lee or Sasha Banks. This is an appreciation post to the women that I grew up watching, that I loved! The women that I believe deserve places in the HOF but probably won’t because people never talk about them anymore!

If it wasn’t for these women there wouldn’t have even been a division for AJ Lee or Sasha Banks so start acknowledging their accomplishments and successes
