Small town country boy Blake Shelton left Oklahoma for the big city of glitz and glamour in hopes to land it big and become a star. He soon discovers life as an inspiring actor isn’t all that its cracked out to be. Audition after audition, after endless auditions Blake is ready to throw in the towel and head back to his home state until he meets fellow struggling actor Adam Levine. A friendship like no other is born, “I just know we’re going to make it some day. I feel it in my soul. You just gotta have faith, Shelton,” running lines and selecting auditions with Adam renews Blake’s hopes and dreams. Several failed attempts later their luck turns up when they receive callbacks for a new sitcom.
“Do you think it’s going to be weird? Working together?”
“Are you kidding me? Working with my best friend, what more could I ask for? And to top it off. Country meets City, two polar opposites living in the same apartment? This is pure gold, we were literally made for this. It’s fucking perfect man.”
“Yeah, but I’ll have to see your ugly mug every day.”
“Blake, please, you know you’re just worried that you’ll end up falling in love with me. All those long hours and close quarters, it’s inevitable, like some true Hollywood behind the scenes love affair shit.”
“Okay, I really doubt that’s going to happen.”
Years later when their hit series comes to an end after a successful ten season run Blake is more than happy to say he owes some of his success to his co-star and love of his life, “But for the record he kissed me first.”
“Oh come on. I did it so you could get your head outta your ass. I knew you always had it bad for me, jackass.”
Shevine AU →Well renowned singer-song writer Adam Levine finds himself uninspired. Feeling the pressure from his record label for his upcoming album Adam packs his bags and drives with no destination in sight. Making a pit stop in Julian, California, Adam is charmed by the quaint town best known for its apples. The locals are welcoming and undeterred by his celebrity. Upon mad raving from one of the shop owners he ventures into Warm Delights to try “the best apple pie you’ll ever eat in your entire life”. They were not wrong, it’s a damn good pie but Adam is more interested in the baker, Blake Shelton. Smitten by the man’s southern charm and quick wit, plaid shirts and larger than life laugh, Adam spends his mornings in the bakery watching Blake bake, sharing jabs, eating pie and writing about his new muse.
“One Apple Flakey Pie for my favorite new customer, black coffee and,” Blake sets the items in front of Adam and reaches into his back pocket, “something you left behind yesterday.” Adam stares down at the crinkle paper with his own scrawl.
Sugar Yes, please Won’t you come and put it down on me I’m right here, ‘cause I need Little love and little sympathy Yeah you show me good loving Make it alright Need a little sweetness in my life
“Y'know, I had a feeling you were sweet on me.” Blake winks before he walks away to help another customer.
“Jackass,” Adam laughs, grabbing his pen and continues to write with a smile plastered on his face, his smile only deepening when Blake kisses him for the first time at closing.
Growing up I always had those awkward conversations about; “what is that scar on your lip?” And you have those pregnant pauses and with Nerd HQ, you know, it makes for a really easy conversation. People aren’t so awkward and uncomfortable asking and they come up and say, “Oh, now I get it Fred. Very Cool.” Yeah, so thank you again.
