What I want to say clearly is that while I am fucking FURIOUS that this happened and that Harry was forced into a situation in which he was obviously so panicked and cornered yet still had to respond— I am not upset AT ALL by said response. Honestly he could have immediately shot down the question, could have given a solid No, of course not. He could have laughed it off and produced the first actual definitive vocal denial of larry we have ever gotten. And I still totally would have understood, in fact when I first read a post about this, about how an interviewer had flat-out asked him this rude-ass question, it was what I exPECted! But even in a moment of obviously being blindsided and subsequently thrown, even when SO uncomfortable and scrambling for words, he still gave a response that…..wasn’t a denial at all? He basically said that people can believe what they want and while not necessarily right he’d never tell them they were wrong. He didn’t even say “those people can believe what they want” to directly refer to the the twitter larries the interviewer was quoting- he swerved and made it more general. And then ending by saying “I’m leaning towards no”……… Um, sorry for it but, ‘im leaning towards no’ is the new 'some people GENuinely think’ because that is not a Straight answer, friend. Harry Styles is the king of swerve, he can lean as far as he likes towards no and then just matrix slo-mo contort himself back round to yes without breaking a sweat. You know Harry Styles owns a pair of patented Michael Jackson anti gravity shoes, he can lean ALL he wants and then moonwalk his way back to the other side slick as anything. Harry Styles gave a fucking ~genius answer. It’s only infuriating that he was put in a position where he had to in the first place, and that is forever not okay.
Costume designer and stylist Heidi Bivens is one the sweetest and most stylish people we know, and she’s also worked with visionaries such as David Lynch, Harmony Korine and even Michael Jackson (whoa!). We recently spent a day in Brooklyn with Heidi and chatted about Eley Kishimoto, scooting over the bridge, and why every girl should invest in a good party dress.
