Hey there. I just wanted to chip in on the southern accent questions as a historian and a librarian.... and a southerner. Technically the British accent is a Southern accent sped up. This can be seen in numerous documentaries regarding the south. Supposedly (according to Michael Caine and a few others) its actually the easiest accent for British actors to replicate. As an example, phonetically, southerners and British pronounce "Mother" the same way, (Mu-ther) with only a tempo as a difference.
