The Woodstock Music & Art Fair—informally, the Woodstock Festival or simply Woodstock—was a music festival attracting an audience of over 400,000 people, scheduled over three days on a dairy farm in New York from August 15 to 17, 1969, but ultimately ran four days long, ending August 18, 1969.
Billed as “An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music”, it was held at Max Yasgur’s 600-acre (240 ha; 0.94 sq mi) dairy farm in the Catskills near the hamlet of White Lake in the town of Bethel. Bethel, in Sullivan County, is 43 miles (69 km) southwest of the town of Woodstock, New York, in adjoining Ulster County.
During the sometimes rainy weekend, 32 acts performed outdoors before an audience of more than 400,000 people. It is widely regarded as a pivotal moment in popular music history, as well as the definitive nexus for the larger counterculture generation.
Rolling Stone listed it as one of the 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll.

They drive past the Target and the Whole Foods and the Walgreen’s, and Jensen watches each one pass with growing confusion. They leave city limits and head out to where it starts to look pretty and spacious and no other cars are on the road, everyone else tucked up at home still eating and watching the Cowboys lose and having sex, like normal people.
When Jensen sees the first cow, he turns to Jared, his voice coming out in a rush from where he’s been holding in his concerns.
“Dude, cows, why are there cows, where are we–”
A sign comes into view then in perfect comedic timing, a giant, hand-painted sign reading CHRISTMAS TREE FARM 1 MI with an arrow pointing. And Jared turns at the arrow.
“You have got to be f–”
“Just go with me on this, Jensen. Okay? Please?”
Jared reaches over for Jensen’s hand, lacing their fingers together tight and holding on. Jensen looks down at their joined hands, at Jared’s glinting wedding band, his frown deepening with each passing second.
*dreamy sighs because they’re so in love* seriously, I just. I just need everyone to read it. it’s cute, it’s funny, it’s so incredibly well-written, and the most heartwarming thing. the only thing that out rivals Jared’s love of Christmas is his love of Jensen and Jensen’s love of him 💕
