Okay, so I’m flooding you with Nodame Cantabile pictures. To offer a break from all that fangirl ranting, I’d like to share some of the TV shows I watched and loved as a kid.
Mga Munting Pangarap ni Romeo
Do any of you remember Romeo’s heartwarming story? I do. I loved it as a kid, and I still love it now as an adult. I remember how Romeo was sold to work as a chimney cleaner in Milan, how he found friends and established the Black Brothers (Itim na Magkakapatid) and Alfred’s dramatic death.
I really really love Romeo. He was such an endearing and lovable boy. Anyway, do you know that the story was taken from the novel Fratelli Neri (Black Brothers)? Of course, if you watched the ending, you would know. (Hehe) I still fervently wish I could obtain a copy of the entire series.
Originally entitled “Little Prince Cedie,” it is the story of Cedric “Cedie” Errol, who discovered that he actually came from a royal blood lineage. When his father died, he was adopted by his grandfather, the Earl of Dorincourt, and was sent to live in England. The series chronicles Cedie’s adventures with his grandfather, and how he changed the bitter old man into a compassionate one.
The series became so popular that a local version was made. Tom Taus starred as the boy wonder Cedie.
I love the tune Cedie always plays on his flute. And I still cry so hard whenever I watch the scene of his father’s death.
Sarah ang Munting Prinsesa
Wow, this one’s a classic. I think everyone (and not just me) liked it because its story resembles that of a typical Filipino telenovela.
A very kind and generous rich girl suddenly has her fate reversed when her father died. Unable to pay the tuition in the private school where she was enrolled, she was forced to become a maid in the school. This reversal of fortune (and her triumph over it) won the hearts of many children all over the Philippines. So much so that it spawned a local version too, starring Camille Pratts as Princess Sarah.
PAG-IBIG! KATATAGAN! AT PAG-ASA! MAHIWAGANG PRINSESA! HOLY-UP! Damn. I love this anime.
It is the story of young orphan Chacha, who was adopted by the most powerful magician in their land, Seravi. She entered Urara Magic School where she befriended Riiya and Shiine. The series follows the exploits of Chacha, who transforms into the Magical Princess Holy Up, and how she (along with her two best friends) defeat the minions of the evil Daimaou!
I think she is the anime version of Harry Potter. But my favorite moments in the series comes from Seravi and Dorothy - the two grown-up magicians who always act like children!!!
“Remi, Nobody’s Girl” is the story of a young orphaned French girl who dreams of seeing her real family someday. Due to poverty, she was sold by her stepfather to the traveling circus of Vitalis. Remi endured many trials and tribulations just to find her real family again.
I still remember the names of Remi’s dogs: Coppie (the one with the hat), Serbino (the black dog) and Dulce (the small fat dog). Meanwhile, the name of Remi’s monkey is Joli-cur (I don’t know the French spelling). I cried when the dogs and Mr. Vitalis died when they were attacked by wolves. It was the saddest episode I’ve ever watched on television (next to Alfred’s death, nothing tops that).
“LILIPAD, LILIPAD, TAKUREEEEEEEEE!” Definitely one of my favorite lines in anime-dom. Mayumi and Henry accidentally set off Dr Leo’s time-machine (which was in the form of a takure or kettle). Along the way, they meet the rowdy bunch of Prince Daniel, Aladdin, the always calm Princess Sheila and Abdullah (who always wanted to snatch the Magic Takure). Definitely one of the craziest anime in the world.
This is the story of 12 animal warriors (follows the Chinese zodiac) who were asked by the Princess to save Story Land of Mugen from the destruction caused by the evil Cat *sob* Chocola.
The twelve main characters of the Series are: (I still remember them)
Powell the rat, Baku the ox, Delacao the tiger, Kelly the rabbit, Pacalachi the dragon, Wannie-wannie the snake, Yaboo the horse, Lesley the sheep, Mencue the monkey, Chickee the well, chicken (although it should have been a rooster), Yalong the dog (he’s my favorite even though I’m a cat person) and Baby the pig.
This is not a complete list… I’ll update this some other time
“Tsimineya…..
