Being Italian I always envied Jewish brides because they got to be hoisted above everyone on a char and danced around. Well by marrying a man from a Jewish family my dream of being the center of the Horah became a reality. In that moment I knew it was a once in a lifetime experience and just let myself enjoy it completely! So nice to see Jesse over the crowd, well until his chair broke:)
We also got to do a dance called the Mezinka, where the parents of the bride or groom celebrating the marriage of their last child wear a crown of flowers while everyone dances around them giving blessings. This was so incredibly beautiful, I think both traditions should be adopted by people from all faiths and backgrounds! Very very beautiful.
