meta and theories

Ways I could see klance realistically playing out in Voltron:

• increased compliments about each other; Lance talks to people about how cool Keith is, Keith talks to people about how awesome Lance is
• a scene where Keith rescues Lance from Galra or something, and Lance says “I was hoping it would be you”
• more bonding moment revisits, aka just small connections they make to each other that one or the other immediately pretends not to remember
• at least one hurt/comfort scene
• being stuck to work together, and then somehow working REALLY REALLY WELL TOGETHER to the point where now they just automatically go to each other whenever there’s teamwork needed, even if they aren’t stuck with each other
• a lot of playful banter/insults, but with more smiling thrown in as the seasons progress
• Worrying™ when the other is in the tiniest kind of danger
• jealousy when the other seems to be hitting it off well with some alien
• the rest of team voltron starts referring to them as a pair; “have you seen Keith and Lance?” “I was talking to Lance and Keith and…”

Hold the phone!

Ok so I was talking about Voltron with my 12yr old little brother who absolutely LOVES it, and when I mentioned something about Pidge lying about her age to get into the Garrison he looked at me like I had three heads.

“Uh no,” he said, obviously ready to correct my ignorance. “Remember? She was already in the school herself but then they kicked her out so she changed her name and went as a boy to get back in and keep searching.” And guys…looking back I can’t disprove that…I think he’s actually right, and I don’t know how I missed that?? Watch those episodes again…

My mind is blown, maybe Pidge isn’t as young as the fandom generally says she is? What think ye?

EDIT: I’m getting loads of comments on this so go read this where I explain a little more about the most common questions/replies

where’s the real shiro

hey hey, fam, I know we’re super excited to get Shiro back in light of Season 3, but like, the Shiro we see is NOT the real Shiro, else he’s really fucked up.

This dude right here ^ Might not be Shiro. I don’t know what he is yet Kuro/Kuron/clone, but seriously, it ain’t right. There’s two Shiro’s here.

Cause there’s also:

Like there’s two Shiros here. One’s gonna be a mole. One’s a copy. One’s getting memories/thoughts downloaded. I don’t know which one it is yet. Either the Shaggy!Shiro is the clone, and this is real Shiro hooked up to this thing and getting his brain downloaded or shit, or this is the copy and the real Shiro is out there being a wild cave man.

Either way, there’s something fishy and fucked up here, and it’s gonna hurt.

Theory time: One of them’s gonna die.

THIS

IS KEITH’S TWIN SISTER.

I already wrote a post on this but MORE EVIDENCE:

Besides her human-like features, their facial similarities, and how fucking AWESOME it would be, we’ve actually already met her before.

Remember this? Yeah, Keef met a mysterious Galra that he fought alongside but who ultimately betrayed him

LET’S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK SHALL WE

HMMMMMMM

HMMMMMMMMMMM

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

The uniform is EXACTLY the same and given the body shape + coloring, she can’t be the two ladies on the left. So she’s either Galra warrior of the right BUT hooded Galra lady’s weapon seems v different from that small gun (either a sword or a staff or a long sniper gun???) PLUS A LITTLE SMALL DETAIL: Both mysterious Weblum Galra and human-like Galra lady have a touch of orange on their collar.

SO THAT MYSTERIOUS GALRA WAS DEFINITELY GOTH AZULA SO IT’S CLEAR SHE HAS SOME RELATION TO KEITH BECAUSE WHY ELSE WOULD THEY WRITE THAT SCENE??

And given that she was trapped in this uniform, she was already working for Lotor. Keith’s mom is a known associate of the Blade of Marinade so she couldn’t be working for Lotor unless some dramatic af shit went down and changed her loyalties OR she’s in deep cover. But I still think she’s too young and too human looking to be Keef’s mom.

YOU KNOW WHAT EXPLANATION WORKS?

Cowboy Bebop and his furry alien wife have twins. They separate those twins at birth because they take after different parents (lookswise). Keef’s dad abandons him for some unknown reason and maybe Keef’s mom does the same with her daughter?? (Too risky to have a child with the Blade??) Her daughter grows up bullied for her half-human heritage and when another group of half-Galra soldiers come to recruit her, including this charismatic prince, she joins without a second thought., either strongly believing in the mission or not really caring what the mission was just happy to have a place to belong. THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.

CUE GENERAL VS. PALADIN FIGHT

CUE FIGHT SCENE BETWEEN THE TWINS

CUE KEEF TAKING OUT HIS KNIFE AFTER HIS BAYARD GETS KNOCKED AWAY

CUE HER BEING LIKE WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU GET THAT BECAUSE SHE HAS A SIMILAR KNIFE

CUE THEM BEING OVERJOYED AT HAVING FAMILY (WE’RE ALL MADE UP OF THE SAME FUCKING COSMIC DUST) AND THEN GETTING ALL SAD BECAUSE THEY’RE ON DIFFERENT SIDES AND TECHNICALLY HAVE TO KILL EACH OTHER

CUE HER TRYING TO CONVINCE KEEF TO JOIN THEM AND VICE VERSA

CUE THEM BEING LIKE “DID I JOIN THE RIGHT SIDE??” AND HAVING INTERNAL CONFLICT

CUE THEM UNABLE TO FIGHT EACH OTHER (OR BEING ANGRY AT EACH OTHER AND FIGHTING EXXXTRA HARD TO PROVE THEY CAN)

CUE KEEF BEING LIKE SHES NOT MY SISTER. SHIRO WAS MORE MY REAL FAMILY THAN THIS RANDOM STRANGER FUCK THIS

CUE HIM GETTING ALL DEPRESSED CAUSE HIS FAMILY IS A SHITSHOW

(cue Lance comforting him and telling him it’s great her found his sister because having siblings is great oh wait this is my own self-indulgent fantasy)

and when they finally do make up and become real siblings, can you imagine them being like “so what was mom/dad like??” and the other being like “…well i don’t really know” CUE MY TEARS

gOD THIS IS GOING TO BE SO HEART WRENCHING IM ALL FOR IT. GIVE ME KEEF’S GALRA TWIN SISTER. GIVE ME GALRA LEIA. I NEED IT.

Why the Black Lion sensed the fake Shiro anyway.

So in this post I explained why season 3 Shiro is fake because of how the Lions reject paladins. But that doesn’t explain why it still sensed and located the fake Shiro when he was floating out in space.

The Black Lion didn’t pick up on Shiro for seven whole days while he was floating out in space, until the last day. On the last day, right before fake Shiro was about to die, he started reminiscing about his team.

He started focusing on his mental and emotional connection with the team. That’s what the Black Lion picked up on. The Lions are psychic and emotional beings, they connect with their paladins through mental links. It’s the psychic connection that allows the Lions to form Voltron. Although this Shiro is fake and/or brainwashed, he believes he is real. The connection he feels to the other paladins is real, and it was so strong that  the Black Lion was able to pick up on it at the last possible moment.

When this moment was over, when fake Shiro stopped reminiscing so strongly like this, the Black Lion no longer has anything to pick up on. So when fake/brainwashed Shiro tries to pilot the Black Lion, it goes back to recognizing him as fake and it rejects him.

Red & Blue Connection Theory

Be warned there’s gonna be Voltron s3 spoilers in here!! So if you don’t want to see that, look elsewhere. (Also this is super fucking long, I’m sorry.)

Anyway so I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and what with (at least temporary) Red Paladin!Lance being confirmed, now is probably the time to post this.

Coincidentally, I’ve been spending the past couple weeks looking for foreshadow of the Red and Blue Lions have some kind of Special Connection and there is quite a bit, so I thought I’d share some of what I’ve found.

The gist of it is that I think Red and Blue have some kind of connection that the other lions don’t seem to have with each other. Of course all the lions have a special bond, but there seem to be a lot of hints that the connection between Red and Blue *coughs* and their pilots is something a little different––basically, that Lance and Keith have shown a lot more interest in/connection to each other’s lions than any of the other paladins have.

(And before everyone jumps down my throat, I’m NOT proposing a permanent lion switch so jot that down lol. But I do think temporary lion switches are Good so uhhhh fight me.)

I’m not sure how to go about explaining this, but I’m just gonna break it down to:

- Keith’s connection with Blue

- Lance’s connection with Red

- What Does It Mean

Here we go!!!

Keith & Blue

- I’m still caught up on this whole “Keith sensed the Blue Lion” thing. Granted, it could have something to do with his alien abilities™ (I’m still rooting for Keith with Altean ancestry, y’all) but I still question the choice of having Keith sense Blue, of all the lions. He only detects the location of two lions in canon, and they’re––you guessed it––Blue and Red.

First we have some kinda vague “energy” that attracts Keith to Blue:

Then we have this part where Keith just … closes his eyes and senses Red somehow??

(These both happen in the first episode, I might add.)

Like I said, this could be some kinda sixth alien sense. But, I do also wonder if it was Blue trusting & calling out to Keith specifically, which is interesting considering he’s not even her paladin.

- Also in the first episode, when they find Blue, Keith & Lance are the first ones to approach her. Keith even reaches Blue before Lance does!

And then they’re both standing right in front of Blue, side-by-side, when she wakes up.

There is still a close-up on Lance when Blue awakens––but even so, everyone else has much more of a one-on-one first interaction with their lion, so this scene in particular stands out to me.

- Other than in the first episode we don’t get much of Keith interacting with Blue in s1 (except for him saving Blue for Lance in s1e06, which is cute!)

But then there’s also this moment in s2 where he starts asking Coran about whether there might have been Galra on earth before, and whether that could have something to do with Blue being on Earth:

Which is especially interesting now that we know that Keith is part Galra. So …. is it possible the previous Blue Paladin might’ve been Galra?? or even could have been an ancestor of Keith’s?

Then of course we have Lance emerging from his room at the mention of Blue, and accusing Keith of “having his eye on the Blue Lion since day one”:

This is … kinda odd considering Keith hasn’t outwardly shown any desire to pilot Blue as far as I can remember. So, obviously this is a throwback to the very first episode in which Keith first sensed Blue––and the fact that it was brought up again out of nowhere makes me suspicious that there’s Something there that hasn’t quite been addressed yet.

Lance & Red

- *rubs hands together* Now this is Extra Fun because now I know for a fact Lance is gonna fly the Red Lion at some point in s3 because it was in the trailer and all …

:’’))

Unfortunately I don’t get to say “I told you so” because I didn’t publish this post before then, but anyway! I’ve been looking for foreshadow of this and honestly?? If you ask me, there are hints of Red Paladin!Lance since the very first episode. (Again, I’m not suggesting Lance becomes Red Paladin forever, so please don’t kill me. But I do think Lance having some kind of connection with Red has been foreshadowed.)

- So!! In the first episode I noticed that when Allura assigns each of them a lion, she doesn’t technically assign Blue to Lance (because he interrupts her, lol). It’s just kind of assumed that he’s Blue Paladin since, well, he’s flown Blue. Now, I’m not saying he’s not the Blue Paladin––he is! Buuut I also find a couple things about this scene Intriguing:

1) Lance looks like he almost expects to be assigned the lion as Allura describes it (even though he already has a lion), and then seems a bit shocked/upset when it gets assigned to Keith instead.

2) Not only that, but you may notice the Red Lion hovers between BOTH of them, which is noteworthy because this doesn’t happen to anyone else when they get their lion assigned to them. Hmmmmmm…

- This may be an unpopular opinion but I actually … also think Lance shows some Red Paladin traits. Once again, that’s not to say that Lance doesn’t also fit into the role of Blue Paladin because of course he does, but I do think he shows traces of being capable of being Red Paladin as well.

Like listen, when Allura is assigning Red, these are her exact words: “The Red Lion is temperamental and the most difficult to master. … Its pilot needs to be someone who relies more on instincts than skill alone.”

So really the only qualifications here are: 1) Be skilled. 2) Have good instincts.

And Lance?? Fits those qualifications pretty damn well. He’s a skilled pilot, sharpshooter, and strategist. And he has very strong awareness/instincts as well (i.e. being able to identify the Rover clone super fast, being able to come up with a plan on the Balmera on the fly, etc.). There’s no reason why he can’t fly Red if you ask me.

- Also, when the Red Lion gets fire power for the first time Lance is like, “I want that!!” which is interesting … especially because (at least as far as I can remember) no one else expresses jealousy for another paladin’s lion that way.

And generally I just find it kinda funny that Lance accuses Keith of having his eye on the Blue Lion when Lance has like…canonically had his eye on the Red Lion from pretty early on.

- In addition to all of the above, there does seem to be some foreshadow about Keith getting separated from Red (at least temporarily). i.e. he has that dream about Red rejecting him.

And there’s also that vision he has in BoM where Red is far away from him.

(Tag yourself I’m the people screaming.)

Could be coincidental …. or could be intentional to foreshadow something about a certain someone else temporarily taking over as Red Paladin.

- And lastly: it may not mean anything, but in GoLion (the original anime) Isamu/Lance was Red Paladin … So, could be a nod to the original!

And yes, he wore a blue outfit but piloted the Red Lion, don’t question it. Color coordination hadn’t been invented yet.

What Does It Mean?!

- In general, there seems to be a lot of subtle foreshadow that there is Some kind of connection between the Red and Blue lions––or at least, to an extent, Keith and Lance have connections to each other’s lions as well as their own.

- It could mean they are both capable of piloting each other’s lions. I’ll say it again––I’m not suggesting a permanent lion swap or anything along those lines, because both paladins also have very strong connections to their own lions. (Also, I’m not sure about Blue Paladin!Keith at this point, although it’s hard to say since we don’t really know what the quintessence of the Blue Lion is yet.)

However, I think in certain situations their lions could be accepting of the other’s paladin (which of course we know is possible since Keith has piloted Black before, and in the s3 trailer it appears he does so again, as well as Lance piloting Red). So, I feel like that could be important.

- As for the reason behind this connection: It could be because their elements balance each other out (you know, the whole fire-and-ice thing), but what I’m really hoping is that there is some significance in the relationship between the previous Red & Blue Paladins (interpret that however you want––but yeah like, maybe they were good friends??? or …. more than that????) and their lions built up a strong connection because of that (or vice versa).

- TL;DR: I think it’s pretty much inevitable that Red & Blue/Keith & Lance have some kind of special connection (space ranger partners™ amiright) and if you ask me there are a lot of signs pointing in that direction. That’s all, bye.

Want to instill doubt in someone? “Change minor details in their surroundings.”

Yes, this post is about Sherlock. Specifically, about the reason for all of those pesky set design flaws that grew larger and larger as series 4 progressed.

For example, the skull picture we normally see…

…turns into this.

Or when Ella’s office looked like this…

…but turned into this.

There are hundreds of examples but how about simply one more.

John’s flat looked like this…

…but turned into this.

If you watch Many Happy Returns, which takes place before Series 3, you’ll see John’s front door doesn’t actually exist under the staircase – that was an unnecessary change in Series 4.

So what do all of these changes have to do with making an impression on the audience?  Well.  Everything.

When you want to get a group of people to doubt their own memory – or to plant new ones – you have to change things about what they already know, but don’t let on that you’ve changed anything.

And who does this for a living?

Derren Brown, the illusionist who had a cameo in The Empty Hearse. He’s also a very good friend of Mark Gatiss’. He has a fascinating video you can watch about this exact technique I’m explaining. By changing details visually, one can change how people doubt their own abilities to perceive reality, and also question their own memories.

Do you know all the outrageous things series 4 fed us?

– Mary is just an ordinary housewife with a good heart
– John would never save Sherlock from a serial killer
– John would beat Sherlock senseless
– Sherlock simply needs love from family to complete him
– John has a bunch of friends that love to look after his baby
– John would blame Sherlock for any harm befalling Mary
– John would easily forgive Mary for shooting his best friend in cold blood
– Mary knows Sherlock and John better than anyone ever could

These things blatantly contradict everything we’ve ever known about these characters. Still don’t believe Mary is a manipulative psychopath? Go read the HLV script; it just made its rounds on the internet today.

You’ve been wondering why series 4 is so screwed up, narratively and visually? It has a purpose. It is to make the audience doubt – to make the audience doubt their own ability to comprehend reality.

Is it working?

Okay so my sister and I were discussing this mess last night and then we ended up seriously considering a theory I have seen come up a few times but now I’m gonna walk you through it

Here it is:

It’s all a lie – Yousef lied Mikael lied. They are lying.

Yousef said that Even kissed Mikael which caused Mikael to be distant and Even to hate himself..

Well tell me Yousef

If Mikael is so ashamed, then why does he bring up Evens name? and why is he laughing when he does?

and why are you Yousef looking so mad and sad and guilty?

Why does Yousef have a pride flag next to his message to Sana?

Why does he say Mikael is super religious when he clearly isn’t that religious because he drinks

why does Elias declare Yousef as the “most Muslim person he knows”

Why was the Even thing big enough to impact Yousef so much but not Mikael?

Why does Yousef avoid the fight and send Sana off into it alone?

Why does he go and kiss the first girl he sees after witnessing the fight with Even and his new crew?

I think you know where I’m going with this: Yousef is questioning his sexuality and is ashamed of it. Him and Even kissed which caused a lot of disaster with Even and when it was threatened to come out to everyone and the balloon boys Mikael took the fall for Yousef. Mikael stepped up and pretended it was him that Even kissed.

What could possibly hint that Mikael would do something like that for Yousef?

Remember that youtube video where they went to Mikaels job interview and Yousef took Mikael aside and they had a secret conversation?

this wasn’t there for no reason. This was almost foreshadowing that Yousef and Mikael have secrets, they have each others backs. They share a special connection.

Now this is what we’re thinking. Did Yousef see Even and panic? Did he see that the truth could come out right in front of everyone? Was he frightened?
Remember we saw him go up to Elias and looking outside.

What if…what if Yousef somehow started the fight to avoid the truth…to make sure nothing slipped about what actually happened and that’s why when it did start he ran off sent Sana out to stop it and kissed the first girl in sight…proving he is straight.

Also he kisses Noora similar to how Isak kissed Emma

The girls hands wrapped around their necks while they have their hands by their sides. Both boys wearing snapbacks backwards and standing on the same side.

I know this seems far fetched but maybe this is the twist we have been waiting for.

The trailer is reversed – this season is reversed and as we saw Friday night, it is the roles that are truly reversed. Just like I’ve been saying Mikael and Yousef are reversed this whole time.

Is Yousef truly the Mikael in this story and Mikael is the Yousef?

Omg if Julie does this my mind is literally going to be blown apart.
Ahhhhhhhh

(Side note: to clarify I am not saying this is going to happen - it’s a theory, nor do I personally believe this will happen. I have just had this theory been addressed with me by multiple people (including my irl sister) and I wanted to outline why this theory is actually totally plausible and could be done and actually hinted in the show already….Do I think Julie will go down this route? no but could she? hell yeah.)

Kirishima Eijirou’s Past and Other Bits of Speculation

Chapter 134 just reminded us of something. We don’t know what Kirishima’s life was like before entering U.A.

Now, this scene is very telling because it looks like Kirishima empathizes with the villain. He empathizes with him so much that he feels like telling him about his past. Keep in mind, Kirishima empathizes with him after the guy attacked Kirishima, nearly killed civilians, and shot Kirishima’s senpai. I think this is more than Kirishima being a nice guy. Plus, this isn’t the first time Kirishima told this villain that he understands how he feels.

Like the villain, Kirishima wants to become stronger, but I think Kirishima relates to the villain in more ways than that. He wouldn’t feel the need to start sharing his past if he didn’t.

My prediction is Kirishima was once a different person than he is now in the manga. I think he was a darker character, more specifically a criminal or a delinquent. We hardly know anything about Kirishima’s past, so it is possible. It seems like Kirishima went through a change before entering U.A.

so like…i know that the whole “Keith I want you to lead Voltron” thing is a big debate topic rn because hot-head boi can’t even take care of himself and like yes Lance would 100% be a better leader imo and then there’s this whole “let them co-lead” thing but

are we just going to ignore the fact that Voltron’s face is literally half covered in blue and red?

I mean???? foreshadowing????????????? has this been discussed before because i think we really need to talk about it

His Mind Created the Perfect Metaphor

Dear BBC Sherlock community,

Ever since Sherlock series 4 came out, collectively we were like “what the HELL is this?!?! This doesn’t make any sense!” BUT after many months of tossing ideas around the fandom, we have made theories that could explain the weirdness, but nothing we can all agree on. Now, this meta here may be absolute garbage to you, but I believe, in my heart of hearts, I’ve solved it. Please read it in its entirety with an open mind before you reblog it just to tell me I suck.

Thanks in advance, you da best

Paige

Here’s the short version: Sherlock actually jumped at the end of The Reichenbach Fall, just as Doyle intended him to die. Gatiss and Moffat said they are correcting something in this adaptation that no one else has gotten right before. Many of us assumed the homosexual romance was the one thing they were changing, but we were punched in the face right after The Final Problem came out.  Gatiss and Moffat are changing the sacrifice. Holmes was intended to die for his friends but Doyle needed more money and rewrote the series after “The Final Problem”. That turned Holmes’ sacrifice into a cruel joke against Watson. This is what BBC Sherlock is fixing, and we’re about to see it come to fruition.

I know many theorists despise the homosexual reading of Holmes and Watson, while many people in general despise theorists on this site. That’s fine, I don’t care how people feel about gay theories and/or TJLC and its followers.  But I’m here to tell you TJLC, at its core as a concept, was right. You may hate Moffat and Gatiss, you may think Sherlock is a piece of shit show, and that’s fine, you do you. But hear this one meta out, please. I think even the hardest skeptic can at least apprectiate the thought and logic behind this.

Holy fuck guys. Like seriously holy fuck. I was just looking through some people’s screenshots of the latest episode when I noticed one tiny detail in the upper-left corner. I thought I’ve seen it before… and I have ahaha. What’s Rick doing with the arm-cannon thing of the “cyborg Rick” we saw in one of the earliest trailers of Season 3? Did he build that Rick??? No but seriously the continuity and foreshadowing on this show is insane. It’s on a whole ‘nother level

(the truth behind Shiro’s s3 bad haircut)

You know how everyone thought Rose Quartz was Pink Diamond for a while, before we saw how fukkin huge Diamonds are? Most of that was because of this image:

With what we know now, we correctly guessed the other gem pictured was a Diamond, and that Rose was holding a Diamond’s gem. But they’re like…the same height.

Sure, it could be a symbolic thing–equal in importance, or equals in that moment. But look again, at the figures all around Rose Quartz. What do they symbolize?

Perhaps Rose Quartz shattered Pink Diamond…while in a fusion with many other Rose Quartzes.

These guys.

Yellow Diamond does say that Pink Diamond was shattered by “A Rose Quartz,” but if you want to get really technical, a Rose Quartz fusion would still be a Rose Quartz. And then we have this:

A lot of us assumed that the other Rose Quartzes were only guilty by association–that they’d been assumed to be a bad batch, or something. But what if they were literally all part of it? Maybe they’re awaiting their final punishment because the Diamonds wanted to punish all of them together.

Touka’s death at the hands of Juuzou?

So someone in the comments of chapter 130 on Manga Stream pointed this out and I thought it was interesting enough to go into more detail and make a post about it.

So this person pointed to the poem that Ishida wrote for Suzuya’s birthday last year. You can find the translation here and the original here.

The poem talks about having to make a choice between killing a cat or a dog. It seems as though he’s forced into killing one of them since he says this.

Please die quickly, please die quickly…
(I looked away so that I wouldn’t see the face of suffering.)

Then this.

Ever since that day, that thin, huge cat (or dog)
(I held in my hands a strangely swollen stomach containing a rotting womb.)
died.

This line most likely implies that the animal he killed was pregnant (hence the reference to the animal’s stomach being “strangely swollen” and the “rotting womb” which might also reference the possibility of Touka’s womb absorbing her baby), and this could possibly foreshadow Touka’s (and her baby’s) death at the hands of Juuzou.

Also the fact that the animal is described as thin could reference the fact that there’s been a serious scarcity of food for ghouls underground, plus, with Touka trying to survive off human food, I can imagine she’s probably quite malnourished.

The “rotting womb” part of the poem also seems to link to the line in Touka’s poem where it says “her womb smelled like it was burnt”, plus, the first line of that poem seems to imply that her child may possibly die.

The children who were meant to be born, died.

If we want to make further links to Touka being the cat, in chapter 123 when Mutsuki is fighting Touka, he continuously calls her a cat over and over again.

All this seems to point to the implication that Suzuya may be forced to make a decision between killing Touka (the cat) and perhaps Kaneki (the dog). Since Suzuya has connections with Kaneki, it would make sense for him to choose to kill Touka since he doesn’t really have any sort of relationship with her.

It can also be noted that this illustration of Juuzou holding a knife with what seems to be blood spattered across his clothes was posted not too long after the illustration of Touka with blood on her belly.

Touka’s poem also includes a line which seems to reference the fact that her future has gone dark, and the path that she was advancing on, towards giving birth and having a family with Kaneki, is gone.

The path that I should’ve advanced in is gone and darkness pulled onto the horizon that lay right beneath it.

In chapter 130, Touka marked down the 28th of December as the date that I assume she is expecting the child. This date is also Ishida’s birthday. This leads me to Ishida’s own birthday illustration from last year; the one that seems to have everyone worried and puzzled.

Touka is dressed entirely in black and there appears to be some sort of cemetery in the background. Perhaps she is holding her baby, or rather, her lifeless baby, since the rest of the image seems to heavily reference death.

That’s a really depressing picture to draw for your own birthday, Ishida :/

This kind of scenario would make sense if we consider what’s been happening in recent chapters. Kichimura and Mutsuki are trying to lure Kaneki out with Yoriko’s death sentence so that they have a chance to kill him, and now that Touka found the letter informing Kaneki of Yoriko’s scheduled execution, it would make sense for her to want to do something about it. If Touka goes off to save Yoriko and Kaneki finds out, no doubt he’ll go after her, and this could lead the both of them to Furuta. If they get captured, it’s possible they could be put into a situation where one of them has to die, and perhaps Suzuya will be the one forced to kill one of them, most likely by Furuta since Suzuya has been one of the people who have shown to be obviously sceptical of Furuta.

However, it is also important to look at the ending of Juuzou’s poem.

(Would it have been better if I just killed them both?)
(Or perhaps, I…?)

Shortly after, the answer started overflowing. I choked.
Was going to die anyway.

Suzuya seems to contemplate on whether it would have been better for him to have killed them both, perhaps after the discovery that the woman he killed had been pregnant, leading to the realisation that she was obviously important to Kaneki. However, he then says that this question isn’t important for him to consider anymore because he is going to die anyway.

Suzuya’s death could come at the hands of a distressed and enraged Kaneki upon witnessing the murder of Touka and his unborn child, wanting to avenge their deaths.
