I spent some time yesterday and today messing around with SGI (Silicon Graphics Image) files. SGI is a sturdy 3 color channel image format created in the mid 90s. You’ll need Gimp or ffmpeg for conversion, but you can databend the shit out of it in any hex editor, and you can also glitch it with Audacity / Goldwave. Here is an example of a sonification animation I made with Audacity. I had to export a b/w GIF to keep it Tumblr friendly.
