God said that Amara had a habit of destroying everything he created. Because it was in her nature and because he was lousy at his job.

I thought if I could show my sister that there was something more than just us, something better than us, then maybe she’d change.  But… every time I’d build a new world… she’d destroy it.

I am sure there was more to this than just “I tried to create, she destroyed, she is a horrible bully” angle God was trying to sell here but look at what Amara said later in the same episode.

It will all be over soon. He’s not gonna save them. It’s all going away… forever. But not you, Dean.

Looks like God managed to create something/someone that finally, finally measured to Amara’s standards. Like, I can’t blame Amara here, God’s world is all messed up and he’s a coward, but Dean? Dean is fascinating, he embodies humanity with all it’s faults and virtues, he is beautiful inside and out, he is complex and complicated, he is a mixture of contradictions, he probably is the best of all of God’s creations—so it’s really not surprising that Amara instinctively recognized that and decided to save Dean.

Sam had no clue how long they’d been walking. Time was.. irrelevant. All he knew was that he had to keep on walking. Leading.

He had what could only be described as an army behind him. Women, children, victims, hunters.. Grandfathers reliving old memories, children who would remember this for the rest of their life.

The time Sam Winchester led them to salvation.

They all followed him, as if they didn’t have another choice. But this young man who’d found them was their saving grace. They had to get out, and he was the answer.

But while they were walking to find salvation, Sam was walking to find his brother.

Which to him, was the same thing.
