Caroline Merit
from A Chicagoland Vampire Series by Chloe Neill

“He’s twenty-nine. And what did you think he was going to look like?“ She shrugged.
"You know-old. Grizzled. Long white beard. Scruffy robes. Loveable, smart, a little absent minded.” I bit back a grin.
“ I said ‘sorcerer,’ not 'Dumbledore.’ So he’s hot. It could be worse.”

Chicagoland Vampire Series Review

Well well what so say about this series?!

This is a urban fantasy story and to be honest i don’t think this is YA, although a lot of people consider it. But anyway… what this is about!? In this world we face a lot of supernatural creatures: shifters, fairies, sorceres and vampires of course. The thing is the humans just found out about the existence of vampires. They’re no longer a secret to the world, and humans are trying to deal with this news. Vampires belong to frat-like Houses. We also have the politic aspects of the story. Neill brings a new diferent vampire world. They are not dead, they still have hearbeat, but the change makes them more stronger and faster than the humans. But there are still vampire elements here, like the sun and the stake. Although most of them don’t drink human blood, and they sleep, drink, eat, dream, have sex just like everybody else.

So here we have Merit, a kick ass heroine with 27 years old. She’s human and a graduate student, who lives in Chicago and one day she is attacked by a Rogue vampire who itended to kill her, but she is saved by Ethan, another vampire who decides to change her into a vampire to avoid her death. The thing is, Merit didn’t like this. Now, Merit is a member of Cadogan House. And it turns out that Ethan is the Master of this House. This handsome, “cold” and four hundred years old vampire wants Merit’s servitude and loyalty to him and the rest of Cadogan House vampires. But their relationship isn’t easy. Merit wants to hate him for what he did to her, and she’s not really his type and chalenges him every time. But they can’t deny the strong and natural atraction between them. Plus, Merit has to learn how to fit in this new world but things get worse when she finds out that someone is trying to get her.

For me a UF story needs to have a very good plot to help the lack in the romance department, so because of this, is not easy to find books like this one. It’s not that we don’t have romance here, there is, but it’s not the main plot. And well there is not a lot of it in the first and second book. It’s like baby steps, which is good, i deslike that love at first sigh thing. Its totally unreal.

This book has everything… action, romance, mystery, kick ass heroine, alpha males… and it’s very well written. It from Merit’s pov, which i love. I was hooked since page one, so i very much recommend it for those people who loves supernatural stories.
