Fashion Trend Overview as seen at 2014 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney

Last week, Sydney’s Town Hall was home to 62 designers showcasing the hottest items from their newest collections. Despite this fashion tsunami, yours truly was there, ear-bling-a-blazin’, madly sorting the amazing from the tragic. If you imagine me between shows devouring a…well, more than one…free fashion goodie bag cookie over an iPad mini, all while yelling ‘gross’ and/or ‘whyyyyy,’ then you’ve got a pretty accurate picture!
These key trends made their way into most of the #mbffsydney collections, from designers such as Phoenix Keating, Bec&Bridge, Alex Perry and Ae’lkemi.
The next time you have clumpy mascara, don’t freak out. Spider-like lashes were key part of the look at the Ginger & Smart show. Using a fan brushto apply, mascara was painted onto models lashes to give them a “spider orchid“ effect. The look was finished off with soft brows, a hint of light purple eyeshadow, warm bronzed cheeks and natural lips.
If you’re a low maintenance kind of girl then you’re in luck. At the Ginger & Smart show nails were lightly coated with Essie nail lacquer in Tea & Crumpets, a subtle rose gold shade which was an ode to the rose gold accents on the shoes and accessories in the collection.
From balayage to long bobs, soft loose waves have always been an “it girl” style. Worn by the likes of Olivia Palermo and most recently the models at Ginger & Smart. Hair was blasted with dry shampoo, scrunched with sea salt spray and smoothed down with hair oil in order to get loose, windswept waves.
