men have called me mad

Men have called me mad; but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence– whether much that is glorious– whether all that is profound– does not spring from disease of thought– from moods of mind exalted at the expense of the general intellect.
—  Edgar Allan Poe, Complete Tales and Poems

White passing gay Latino men won’t admit to racially fetishizing black men but have the audacity to get mad at me for calling them out on it. I don’t ever see white passing gay Latinos speaking up on the challenges dark gay men of color face, but suddenly they have a voice when I say I’m not here for their bullshit.
