Writer Melanie Gillman (As the Crow Flies) and artist Katy Farina (The Amazing World of Gumball) are teaming up for the start of a new series of adventures for the entire gang. Based on Cartoon Network’s Emmy Award-nominated animated series created by Rebecca Sugar about a boy with magical powers who goes on adventures with The Crystal Gems, a team of beings who safeguard the universe. The show is approaching its fourth season and has earned millions of fans of all ages worldwide. In this kickoff issue, Steven, Lapis, and Peridot rescue a baby songbird on the ground outside the barn and work together to reunite it with its mother.

The time has come!  The Other Side Anthology is now KICKSTARTING!

Pledge NOW!

The Other Side is a queer paranormal romance comic anthology. It will be a 200 page long, black and white, soft-bound book, featuring 19 gorgeous stories by 24 creators. It showcases a wide variety of styles, mediums, and approaches to the genre.  Each story delivers on a promise: bring one new story about unambiguously queer characters in love and paranormality into the world.  The book is carefully curated and thoughtfully edited, with beautiful artwork throughout.

The Other Side Anthology is co-edited by anthology veterans Melanie Gillman and Kori Michele Handwerker. It will be printed in the United States and contributing artists are paid for their work.

The Other Side: An Anthology of Queer Paranormal Romance was brought to life in early 2016 by editors, contributors, and amazing Kickstarter backers.

It’s 200 pages of 19 comics by 23 creators, with all-new stories contributing to the paranormal romance genre in an unambiguously queer way.

The book, now printed, is scheduled to distribute to backers in August and September, and become available for sale in both physical and digital formats  for everyone by the end of the year.

If you’re a backer, you can check out our updates on the kickstarter.  If you want to know when the book is available for general sale, you can sign up for a notification email here, or keep an eye on this blog.

Thank you so much for your support!

My cartoonist pal Melanie Gillman as Charon, ferryman to the Underworld. This was done for Denver Drink & Draw’s “draw other members as characters from mythology” sketch challenge.

The idea for this came from Melanie’s penchant for picking up coins from off the ground. And now, from off your eyes.
