mega brush

arken-stones  asked:

if this doesn't bother you do you mind sharing what kind of brushes do you use or an old tutorial? i just really love the texture in your 0812 studies and kinda wanted to see how you did that

I used default Photoshop flat brush for my 081216 study. You can play with the Opacity and Flow, but make sure to do some tweaking with your Tool Preset (It is under your brush icon, next to Mode at the upper left corner of your Photoshop window, Toggle the Brush Panel. It looks like this):

  • - Shape Dynamics: Change the Control under Angle Jitter from “Off” to “Rotation.”
  • - Color Dynamics: You don’t have to turn this on, but I just have it on because I am too lazy to mix my own color palette. It creates texture too.
  • - Transfer: Make sure to allow your Pen Pressure to control your Flow Jitter.
  • - Smoothing: Turn it on.

This is probably the quickest way to make your own customized brushes, but you can also buy Kyle Webster’s Mega digital brush set. It is worth it.

Some good tutorials and online art schools:

Well, I finally figured out that adding new brushes in SAI was not as hard as I originally thought :’)

So here I present my brush testing mega-drawing (▰˘◡˘▰)

Each character I chose to draw was requested (Well, I asked them for their favorite character~) by one of my mutuals and/or friends!

- Marinette was requested by a friend IRL

- Erza was requested by @turnipdoodle I didn’t have much time for Erza, and the wedding dress got cut off…. But I hope you enjoy Erza in a wedding dress 🌚🌚

- and Lavi was requested by @lemontree-1 +I apologize if the drawing isn’t quite up to scratch, I’ve never watched D Grey-man, so drawing Lavi was quite difficult. And the colors and shading aren’t showing up as well on Tumblr, but I hope you like it anyways!

anonymous asked:

Hi! I was wondering what kind of brushes and textures you use in your art? (The most common ones you use that is :P) That would be really cool!

I use a lot of brushes, and I have a bunch downloaded. Some I can’t remember where they came from and others you can’t get anymore (they were taken off the internet or something)

but here are some of the ones I was able to hunt down

-Essential Illustration Brushes

-Lintu’s Brushes

-Triangle Brushes

-Frenden Brushes (these ones you have to buy but I love them~)

-Kyle T Webster’s Mega Brush Pack (these are, no joke, my FAVORITE brushes, I use these brushes more than any other)

Color your perspective.

Those who think liners should be confined to neutrals need to open their eyes! “There’s so much fun to be had with liner,” says Sephora PRO Artist Erik Soto. For this rainbow eye look, Erik pulled a metallic black, a bold teal, and a bright purple out of his bag of makeup tricks. Wear this look to a nightclub or a trip to the grocery store—as long as you own it, it will look good. BECKY PEDERSON

Draw a fine line with Kat Von D Lightning Liner in Jett along your top lashes, making a tiny wing when you reach the outer corner. Let it dry.

Carefully draw a second line with Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Teal, right above the black liner from step one. Keep a steady hand so there is no empty space between the black and the teal.

Line your lower lashes with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Psychedelic Sister, using SEPHORA COLLECTION Pro Shader Brush #18 to smudge between the lashes. Swipe on a layer of Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara and you’re good to go.

“I always tell people, if you’re going to embark on liquid liner, practice before you take your makeup off at night. This way,” says Erik, “you can get the movement down before you try it for real in the morning. It’s like, who cares if you make a mistake? No one’s gonna see. It’s the best time to experiment with your makeup.”

This is a giftart (with bonus progress gif) I did for @nighte-goggles (and you can find her wonderful work at @nighte-studios) of her character Nighte! This was fun to work on since it gave me the chance to play around with some new watercolors I downloaded from Kyle T. Webster’s ultimate super mega awesome brush pack. :) I love the look of his watercolor brushes so much… still getting the hang of them (they’re very versatile, just like real watercolors!)

Anyway! Nighte (the tumblr artist) is such an incredibly sweet person and she’s always giving and showing support for other artists on tumblr that I just wanted to try and show her some appreciation for all of the good stuff she does. Please accept this (hopefully decent) giftart!

We love our cat eyes dearly, but sometimes the mood calls for a look with more flair. Enter: The Jet Wing, a sweeping, statement-making eye look. Here, Sephora PRO Artist Erik Soto shows us how to layer eyeliners in a way that makes beauty take flight. BECKY PEDERSON

Use Urban Decay Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner with SEPHORA COLLECTION Pro Angled Liner Brush #22 to mark the points to where you want your wings to extend. This look is all about drama, so we plotted our wing points nearly two centimeters out from the corners of our model’s eyes.

Once points are plotted, fill in the wing with your eye open. Stop the color once you hit your lid—when your eye is closed, the liner will make a hard 90-degree angle. Stopping the color at this point will keep you from looking like you have two black eyes.

Use SEPHORA COLLECTION Classic Line 24HR Felt Eyeliner to delicately line the rest of your upper lash line for definition. Connect the bottom of the wing to the bottom lash line to clean up the look. Use this liner to clean up any smudged lines on your wings as well. Finish the look with Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara.

Don’t stress yourself out trying to get your wings to match exactly. Erik says, “The wings themselves end up being different sizes because each eye folds in a different place. They’ll never be the same.” Focus instead on making the wings look proportional to each eye.

Blur the edges.

If you’re looking for a quick and easy eye look that screams sophistication, Smudged Out might be your newest beauty secret. With just one eyeliner gel crayon that works like a cream shadow, Sephora PRO Artist Erik Soto explains how to take your look from day to night. BECKY PEDERSON

Apply Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Brown(Out) to your lash line using short strokes. You’re going to smudge the liner, so the line doesn’t have to be clean. Using the SEPHORA COLLECTION Pro Crease Brush #10, quickly blend the color to your eye crease. Because our model’s eyes are wide set, Erik concentrated color on her inner corners to bring them closer together. If your eyes are close set, the opposite rule is true: Concentrate color on your outer corners to make your eyes appear farther apart.

After you’ve smudged your upper lash line, draw another line on your lower lash line and smudge again with the SEPHORA COLLECTION Pro Smudge Brush #11, a flat brush with compact bristles that will diffuse the color. Erik says it’s important to move onto this step after you’ve fully completed Step One. This is because Highliner’s waterproof formula won’t budge after it dries, so you have a limited amount of time to move around the color.

Blend with the SEPHORA COLLECTION Pro Crease Brush #10 to soften any last harsh edges around your eye. Lastly, swipe on some Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara and hit the road.

This look is built to take you from day to night. “Because she’s already got her day sparkles going on,” Erik says, “for night I would just add a black liner to the water line for more definition.”

Further, this look is great if you missed out on some crucial zzz’s. When you wake up looking like you could use another solid eight hours, Erik says to lay off the concealer, which will only highlight your tired eyes. Instead, use your crease brush to bring the color down your eye and over your bags. According to Erik, “If you wake up puffy, it’s a Smudged Out day!”
