“Regina. This is Rubina, love. The med staff told me you were starting to finally come around this morning, so if you’re hearing this, congratulations on not succumbing. We were worried sick.
Now, before I begin, Regina, I would like to clarify that your debriefing for this operation is absolutely to be kept confidential. The security of this team may be at stake.
I received a transmission from the position where we found you - I’ve marked it there on the display. See the little X, dear? There was your ship, derelict, with you inside. And only you.
We scoured the ship, and the entire surrounding sector, for any trace of Juli. There was none. But we found that one of the two escape pods on the ship had been jettisoned.
Analysis of the ship’s records indicated that you were attacked, Regina, and that Juli fled as your ship was overtaken by our rivals, the Helene Harpies.
I’m sorry to say this, but… There’s strong evidence to support that she may have sold you out, dear. The cargo was taken, Juli escaped without any sign of a struggle on her part in the ship records… and you were… well, I’m sure you already noticed the sudden new presence on your abdomen.
Yes, I’m afraid the Harpies have taken on a truly bizarre new method of making an example of their captured rivals. The med team can confirm if you have difficulty believing this, but, scans concluded that your stomach was treated for an increased elasticity by some drug administered to you by the Harpies. That drug muddled your senses and is the reason you’ve been unconscious for the past two days. And then they moved you to the mess and force-fed you - according to the logs, they continued to do so until the replicator was out of base material.
I’m sorry, Regina. It’s all rather bizarre and barbaric - typical Harpies. And… I know you and Juli were… a very potent team. Her absence will weigh heavily on me as well.
But for now, we need to find out how much information she’s smuggled to the Harpies. Remain with med team until the… situation in your stomach has been dealt with. When you’ve ‘recovered’ fully, I’ll need you to report directly to me.
I’ll see you soon, Regina. We have quite a lot of things to do together.”
End playback. Message deleted.
Regina stared at the now-silent device sitting on the table beside her infirmary bed. She struggled to her feet, weak-kneed, using the table to brace herself until her legs could work on their own.
Juli wouldn’t do that.
Regina stared at herself in the mirror. Her thighs and hips were soft - from all of that still-digesting replicator food, the med team had explained. Her stomach, heavy but soft and malleable, jutted shockingly from her frame as she pawed at it curiously with both hands. She was dumbfounded. It was full alright, and the infirmary was filled with the constant droning churn of digestion.
Juli wouldn’t leave me.She wouldn’t sell me out.
She turned to consider the recording device on the table again, a hand resting on the plush surface of her overloaded belly. Rubina was obviously not telling Regina everything, but her memory was fuzzy… the drug? The med team told her there would be lingering effects, like an increase in appetite, and memory loss… But despite all that, that empty hole in her recollection of events was still terrifying.
Where did Juli really go? Did the Harpies abduct her? Did they ever even show up at the ship at all? Regina struggled to remember.
Juli is in danger somewhere. Rubina knows something.
Regina scowled into the mirror, resolved to find out what Rubina was hiding. Her stomach
A/N: I tried to put this off and go to bed because I have to get up in a few hours and catch a flight, buttttttttttt my brain is an asshole. So that didn’t happen and I wrote this which is just a little filler fic after Oliver and Felicity get pulled out of the hole. Thanks for reading this from beyond the grave since we’re all dead with feels and new sexy times!
The winch pulling in the rope attached to Digg moved quicker than Felicity expected. With the blood from Oliver’s wound seeping through her top all she could think about was getting to the surface and getting him help.
When they reached the ledge, hands were there to pull them up and over, Digg first, turning fast to sit back and brace his feet to help haul Oliver to solid ground.
Her back scraped painfully against the side as Oliver did his best not to crush her, panting with exertion and blood loss. For a long moment they all just lay there, silent, thankful to be alive.
Dinah’s hands pressed into Felicity’s shoulders, holding her upper body still while her legs still dangled in the open air.
With a grunt she tried to plant her arms and push back but they collapsed beneath her, the effort it had taken to hold on to Oliver and balance her weight as best she could had taken the last of her strength.
“Hang on there, Blondie, we’ve got you,” Rene said with a forced easiness that somehow made her feel better as he slipped his hands under her arms and lifted her backwards the final few feet, the threat of her falling back into the elevator shaft finally eliminated.
“Thanks,” she panted, rolling on her left hip to look towards Oliver and Digg.
Oliver was sprawled in the same spot where he’d landed, face slick with sweat, his breaths too quick and with a faint blood stain already marking the concrete beneath him.
“He needs help,” she said almost frantically as she reached for him, her hand going for his face just as he turned his head to look for her, “I don’t think the stitches held–”
“Lyla’s got a med team standing by and transport to ARGUS,” Digg said as he hauled himself to his feet, “We’ll get you both checked out.”
“I’m okay,” Oliver said weakly, struggling to push himself to his elbows.
“You are so far from okay,” she countered, letting some of the fear she’d experienced in the last few minutes take control of her voice.
He gave her a wan smile, one that was just for her as he covered her hand and squeezed it hard, “We got out. Together. I’m okay.”
She held his gaze as long as she dared, the lump in her throat too thick to speak over. And then Digg was holding out his hand for Oliver to take, making sure he was on his feet and mostly steady before he let go.
Rene moved to his side with one look from Digg, “Need an escort, Hoss? It’s a bit of a walk back.”
Felicity’s stomach lurched when Oliver just nodded his acceptance and laid an arm over Rene’s shoulders. Oliver was hurting much worse than he was letting on.
“I don’t suppose you brought my extra chair?” she asked, looking up at Digg.
“You’re stuck with me I’m afraid,” he replied with a mock shrug before bending down to scoop her up.
He fell into step right behind Oliver and Rene, Dinah having moved up to flank Oliver’s other side just in case he fell.
“Thanks for coming for us,” she said softly, letting her head rest against his shoulder.
By the time they reached ARGUS Oliver was barely able to stand causing Lyla to bark orders for the medical team to come to them.
In seconds, they were surrounded and before she could blink, he was being maneuvered to a gurney as doctors swarmed him.
“Oliver!” she cried moving as if she could somehow break out of Digg’s hold and go to Oliver’s side before he was rushed away.
But Digg moved in closer making a space for them. Oliver’s head rolled heavily to the side, and to her great relief his eyes were open and locked on hers.
His hand reached out, swaying and unsteady but she lunged to grab it, not paying attention to how Digg had to adjust his hold so she wouldn’t fall.
“I’m not going anywhere,” she whispered fiercely, the past eighteen months of their lives suddenly becoming so clear to her.
He smiled, and then his eyes slipped shut and the fear she’d felt before spiked in her chest as they began to roll him away.
“He’ll be okay, Felicity,” Digg said reassuringly.
Her eyes stayed on him until he turned a corner and she could no longer see him. A sharp gasping breath left her lungs and it took everything in her not to break down. That could come later.
“I think I’ve got everything I need to at least get you a temporary fix on your implant,” Curtis began, as he approached them.
“Let’s go get you patched up while Oliver’s with the doctors,” Digg suggested low against her ear as she wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him the hug she’d wanted to give him since she’d first seen him on that rickety ladder trying to get to them.
“You really think he’ll be okay?” she asked shakily.
Digg pulled back to look her dead in the eye, “I know he will. He’s got too much to live for, even if he doesn’t know what that all is yet. Though something tells me that maybe he’s finally figured it out.”
the med team’s done ninety percent of the legwork towards a cure, but they need fresh eyes; bones hasn’t had more than a few hours of sleep at a time in nearly a week, with dark circles under his eyes and a uniform shirt that has a two day old coffee stain. christine and geoff aren’t doing any better, holding each other up and sharing a cup of coffee as they argue over the inputs for their simulation. they’re so close, so close, but they just can’t figure out that last ten percent–
he makes the breakthrough in less than two hours, and the tension in the room just breaks
bones practically throws himself across the room when spock calmly announces he’s got a working formula, shoving him out of the way to run the simulation again. chris and her nearest nurse throw their arms around each other, halfway between crying and laughing. the other nurses are cheering–geoff claps spock on the shoulder giddily and shouts “somebody kiss this man so I don’t have to!”
bones, his eyes wide and his hair sticking up at odd angles, just turns away from spock’s computer, grabs the front of his shirt, and reels him in
Hey i have this idea. Im a bit embarrased by it but what the hell and i need to take it out of my mind lol
The paladins goes to this planet and everything it’s ok they save the day and stay for the celebration. Everything is fantastic and the locals offers team voltron a strange looking juice. Allura drinks it and so does Coran. They said it was a famous and delicious beverage back in Altea. Of course, everyone knows what an awful sense of taste the princess and her advisor have, so the team avoids it.
But the night goes on, and Lance gets thirsty for dancing so much. He can’t find any water, or something that doesn’t looks… questionable. So, against his better judgment, he drinks from Coran’s cup.
…. It’s as awful as everyone predicted. And then Lance starts feeling really dizzy. He faints, some alien catchs him and takes him to their med bay.
Team Voltron is worried and Allura asks about what happened. It seems that the beverage do… Funny things to human.
When Lance wakes up, he screams alarming everyone. His friends volts into the room and Shiro is about to ask what is going on when he sees it. Everyone is shocked. Lance is standing there in the middle of the room with wide eyes, trying to cover up his naked body with little success.
Lance is different.
Lance is a girl now.
Everyone goes crazy, Allura demands answers, Pidge is laughing her ass off and Coran runs to take a blanket to cover Lance. The other paladins, well, they just can’t stop staring.
Now, i know you all have seen genderbend Lance fanart… She usually has a flat chest and nice but small ass, not a big deal, right? But imagine Lance being a busty girl with wide hips and thick tighs. (i saw a beautiful fanart with Lance with that description and i can’t stop thinking about it!!)
It’s a mess at first and Hunk is the first one to react. He goes into protective mode in an instant and goes to help his friend trying to calm him down as he looks for some new clothes for him.
Shiro is embarassed and tries to help too but a look from Hunk is enough to let him know it’s not a good idea to get close. Keith is embarassed and confused, so he decides to leave them room and give Lance some space.
After some discussion, they find out it was the juice that turned him into a girl. The aliens can’t help Lance, because human biology is unknown to them, so the transformation is a complete mystery.
Anyways, they try to find a solution but it’s useless. The aliens are sorry but they can’t help them. Now it’s up to Coran and Pidge to find a way to help Lance go back to normal.
Of course, the process is not fast and Lance has to get used to his new body. To everyone’s surprise, Lance is actually really comfortable in this form. Yes, he would like to be a boy again, but he’s totally fine being a lady. A pretty lady.
But now his teammates are the ones having trouble with it.
Lance doesn’t have shame. The first thing he does after returning to the castle is taking his shirt off to show off his breats to Allura and Pidge, making the girls scream hysterically because “oh mY GOD LaNCE YOU CAN’T DO THAT!!!” And Pidge and Allura are lowkey jelaous of Lance because his tits are bigger than theirs? A literally Pidge stares at Lance like ‘goals’.
Also, they have to fight a lot with him because he. hates. bras. He never had to use them in his life, so right now he can’t stand them. They are uncomfortable so he just… Decides not to wear them (he only wears them when they train because it’s feels awful when he runs and do excersice in general)
The other paladins are a little… Bothered. I mean, they are happy to know Lance is not so sad about not having a cure yet and having to be a girl longer than expected, but God he’s killing them.
They were fine with Lance not wearing bras and casually watching his nipples hardening through the clothes but then he started wearing shorts, and tops, and God he’s still Lance. Their friend. BUt they can’t help to stare at him sometimes because he looks amazing.
tbh i just did this because i wanted the paladins drooling for him lol (and wanted to use the genderbend prompt lol )
BUt i also like drama… everything funny or happy i need to make it sad or angsty at so point so… read this…
Shiro, like everyone, gets protective of Lance because every new planet the step in some alien dude tries to woo Lance or idk, to make a move on him. Lance is totally ok by this, but he doesn’t truly mind when Shiro or Hunk interferes. It feels good in a way to be taken care of, because he knows they are only looking out for him.
So, this leads to Shiro and Lance spending more time together and it’s lovely, really. Lance has always being bisexual and had a great crush on Shiro that has come back at full force because he loves how sweet and caring the black paladin is to him. So.. He takes advantages of his new body, because he’s not an idiot and sees the way Shiro stares at him, ok?
He asks to train in private with him and Shiro agrees. One thing leds to another and instead of training the end up kissing. They start dating and it’s wonderful for a while. Hunk and Pidge warns Lance about what bad idea this could be, but he decides to ignore them.
two months passes after that, AND FINALLY, Lance can go back to be a boy! Which is fantastic because yes, he enjoyed being a girl and having a wonderful time with his body (doing self-exploration) and sharing its beauty with the world (shiro) but he wants to be him again.
So, he becomes a boy again. Everything is happy and Lance hugs Shiro, who gives him a little smile. Everything seems fine at first but then Shiro starts kissing less, touching him less. He gets shy and avoids any kind of public displays of affection in front of their friends. Hell, even in the privacy of their room Shiro is distant.
Lance gets tired of this, because he wants his loving boyfriend back and he can’t understand what’s happening. He asks him about it, and Shiro tells him the truth. He loves Lance, but he doesn’t feel comfortable dating him now that he has his male body back. It’s a difficult thing to accept for him because of the way he was raised. He’s being trying to ignore but it’s still difficult for him to push aside his old believes.
Lance is hurt by this, and thinks Shiro dated him of the way he looked before,(which is not totally a lie but it isn’t the truth either) so, they break things off. Take some time. Lance is hurt and so is Shiro. He’s sad because he made Lance feel like this and he feels frustrated with himself, because he loves Lance… A lot. He knows this. But.. It’s not easy… He wants it to be, but it’s not. It’s … an internal battle he’s fighting. About his feelings, belives, and everything his family taught him.
You had put this moment off for as long as you could. Standing in front of Avengers Tower you took
a deep breath and replayed the words of Fury back through your head, hoping
just the memory of his tone would scare your feet into action. “You’ve had an
extra month on this and Murdoch isn’t gonna budge now get your ass back here or
find yourself another job.” Blinking
rapidly you steadied your nerve and opened the door just hoping you could avoid
crossing paths with Captain America for as long as possible.

His grip was tighter than you thought possible. The cuts were deep and your body screamed where he kept punching and kicking you. You couldn’t do anything. You were too weak to fight back or even try to call for help. But you tried.
You managed to get one little squeak out of your vocal chords before they were clamped shut by the same grip that had your arm moments earlier. You clawed and struggled to breathe as you looked at the face of your ex looming over you. Whatever he was saying was muffled as everything became darker and darker.
You shot up out of bed and reached for your throat before jolting from the pains of the real cuts and bruises that littered your body. It was just a nightmare. At least that beating was. You looked at your alarm clock and read 7AM, only 15 minutes before you had to really get up. But there was no point in trying to go back to sleep, so you got up and tried to get ready for the day.
You went into your bathroom and opened the medicine cabinet and searched for a specific medicine, one that would help ease the pain even a little bit. You found a generic pain killer and took two before going to the kitchen and putting a bagel in the toaster.
“I guess I’ll be wearing long sleeves for awhile now.” You muttered to yourself as you found a suitable shirt to go along with some looser fitting pants and your boots. As you were finishing up lacing your boots, your communicator rang.
Hey mom, could you write the missing scene where Maggie meets Eliza? Cos we never got to see it but obviously Eliza really likes her :) thanks xoxo
She sees her when she’s flitting in and out of consciousness.
When whatever Cyborg-Superman shot her with is coursing through her veins and glowing in her wound and infecting her and sending her into seizures that have the DEO med team nervous and that have her daughter with a clenched jaw and a tone of panicked command in her voice that Eliza’s never heard.
She sees the way Alex holds her to her, the way Alex’s hands – her daughter’s hands, which can kill so easily – are gentle with Maggie, the way her hands rip off her vest, her shirt but her eyes avoid her chest almost too diligently as she combats whatever toxin is coursing through Maggie’s veins.
She sees the way Alex doesn’t breathe until Maggie’s vitals stabilize. Until Maggie starts talking, starts asking after her team, after Supergirl.
Eliza smiles softly to herself, because if this girl’s first thoughts after nearly dying was to ask about the welfare of her team and a woman with super powers, she might just deserve her Alexandra.
But she fights not to form any stronger opinions about her until she truly meets her.
And she does soon enough, because she’s there when Maggie gingerly tests out walking after getting dressed, after getting the clear from Alex to leave; after Alex was called away to some briefing or other, delayed until Maggie was in the clear because J’onn knew, already, not to even try to pry her from Maggie’s side before she knew she was going to be alright.
“You must be Maggie,” she strides forward, and she reaches out a hand to steady her daughter’s crush when she stumbles at her voice. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.”
“No, ma’am, you don’t have to apologize, I… Dr. Danvers, right? It’s a pleasure. Your daughter’s… amazing. Both of them.”
“It’s Eliza, dear, please. And Alex says the same thing about you.”
She thinks Maggie blushes, but it could be the rush of standing up again for the first time since getting shot with a Cadmus laser.
“Well, I’m just lucky to have her in my life, Dr. Danvers.”
“Is the pain bad?”
Maggie shakes her head. “Just a bit dizzy. I’ll be alright.”
Eliza nods and offers to help Maggie tug on her leather jacket. Maggie accepts with murmured thanks.
“She’s lucky, you know. Alex. To have a parent like you, in terms of… She told me… she told me you were great about her coming out. I just… that’s wonderful. That’s exactly what she deserves. She should have that in all areas of her life, you know?”
Eliza squints at her slightly, this woman that her daughter’s falling in love with.
“Did you not?” she asks. “Have that?”
Maggie lowers her eyes and shrugs, flinching slightly when the movement jostles her stitches.
“Alex deserves the best. I’m happy she has acceptance about being who she is from you and Kara.”
“You care for my daughter quite a bit, don’t you?” Eliza asks, and Maggie smiles faintly.
“A lot, yes, Dr. Danvers.”
Eliza doesn’t bother to remind her to use her first name. She’s too busy staring, too busy calculating. Too busy evaluating.
“Well, we don’t always find someone we care about so deeply, Maggie. Life is short. And you’re right. Alex deserves the best.”
She holds out her hand, and Maggie takes it, eyes wide. “It was a pleasure to meet you, Maggie. I hope to see you again soon.”
Maggie stammers slightly as Eliza walks away.
“I hope so too, Dr. Danvers,” she murmurs, her mind already steeling herself for how much she’s going to risk tonight, and all for the love of a woman’s daughter.
-imagine finn as a caregiver for an older disabled woman, named marta. she has a sharp sense of humor and she loves classic movies, especially ones that involve happy endings.
-one afternoon they go to the theatre to see beauty and the beast.
-it’s a weekday afternoon, so there are like 5 people in the whole theatre. they’re also super early, so they’re watching the pre-preview movie trivia and shouting out (outrageously and hilariously) wrong answers at the screen.
-a young woman enters the theatre and marta recognizes her at once. “nurse rey!” marta calls, happily. “come sit with me and my handsome young man!”
-rey lets out a startled laugh, but joins them. turns out she’s the nurse at marta’s allergy clinic, so they see each other every week.
-rey is sweet and kind to her patients, and marta adores her. (marta’s fond of finn, for the same reasons.)
-rey and finn introduce themselves and chat until the previews start. rey’s cute and easy to talk to, and finn likes her at once.
-after the movie, marta invites rey to join them for a late lunch, and she does. the three of them have a great time.
-idrk what else, but basically finn and rey bond over being medical professionals, and marta (not so subtly) plays matchmaker, and adorableness ensues.
A/N: This literally took me hours, lol. I’m not even ashamed, I just hope it turned out aright since I’m not normally a smut writer. Also– ft. alternate ending for Rogue One but fair warning, it’s still mildly depressing. It’s not fluff, it’s not angst…it’s like…flangst. I’m also a huge hopeless, romantic sap. Okay I’m done waffling now. #fixitfic2k17
Cassian’s grip was tight around my shoulders as we watched the world around us fade away. Fear clutched my heart in a cold, iron grip, making it feel as if my blood had turned to ice. The three of us exchanged worried looks, Cass slung in-between Jyn and I, too weak to stand on his own. Hopelessness began to replace the triumph I had felt only moments before, until I heard the sweet sound of a ship engine. I craned my neck and heard a relieved laugh escape Jyn as a rebel fighter ship lowered itself onto the beach and hovered over the sand. Inside, several rebel fighters were watching frantically at us and I knew we had maybe seconds before Scarif was gone.
Cassian grunted in pain as I helped him climb into the ship, two other pairs of hands reaching from inside to pull him him. Jyn and I followed, hopping in just as the pilot began to pull away from the beach. My entire body ached with exhaustion, but it was nothing compared to the state of my heart as I looked around the ship and saw no other familiar face. I tugged on the sleeve of the nearest rebel fighter. He leaned toward me, turning his head to hear my voice over the road of the engines.
Maybe a fic on how either Alex or Maggie gets badly hurt while working on some case and then the other hears about it and rushes to see her girlfriend and look after her and comfort her? Idk I like seeing them vulnerable and protective of each other ☺️
‘How quickly can you scramble your sister?’
There was something about her girlfriend’s tone on the phone that made
Alex Danvers rise from her chair and her heart begin to thump. ‘Right this
‘My car was hit by a truck…I can smell petrol and I can’t…ugh, I can’t move.’
Alex’s chest felt tighter as she jogged over to Winn, who
looked up at her, puzzled. ‘Where are you?’
‘Corner of Lex and Williams Street.’
‘Winn, I need Kara at the corner of Lex and Williams Street
‘On it,’ he said, without hestitation, already dialling
Kara’s number. ‘What’s happened?’
‘Maggie–.’ The words were hard to say, she didn’t
want to say them out loud but, thankfully, Winn seemed to understand, not
saying anymore when she froze, her mind starting to form some image straight
out of some nightmare of her love, trapped in a car, covered in blood, hurt.
‘Al…Alex, you still there?’
Alex blinked, back to reality but still terrified, her voice
shaky and her eyes beginning to fill with tears. ‘Yes, baby, yes. Winn’s
calling her now.’
‘Good,’ Maggie wheezed.
‘How much pain are you in?’
‘A lot…my legs are trapped and my chest…sharp pains.
Stabbing pains, it’s hard to…’
Breathe. She was
struggling to breathe. ‘Stay with me. Tell me where exactly the pain
‘Anywhere else?’ She asked, as Winn shot her a thumbs up, signalling
that help was in flight and would be there in mere seconds.
‘Shoulder…my arm, I can’t…move it.’
Spleen, it was likely
her spleen. ‘Kara’s on her way. Hold tight,’ she said, although with every
pained gasp from her girlfriend, her composure was drastically crumbling, and
her words were more of a plea than an instruction.
‘Al…I love you.’
‘I love you too but, don’t say it like that.’ Like she’d never get
the chance to say it again. Alex’s tears began to fall and Winn rested a
hand on Alex’s arm as those tears started to choke her. ‘Help is coming. Hold
on. Baby, hold on.’ Silence. ‘Maggie,
please, hold on.’ There was a thud and Alex yelled Maggie’s name down the phone
until she realised it was the help landing.
Helpless, she sobbed as she listened to Kara crunch her way
through metal and glass to get to Maggie, before her voice came through the
‘I’ve got her Alex.’
‘Is she okay?’
Kara dodged the question, saying only, ‘Get the med team
They took her into surgery immediately.
Her spleen was ruptured and her leg was shattered but,
considering the mangled state of her squad car, it was miraculous that she got
off so lightly.
Alex keyed the surgical team in on Maggie’s symptoms and
they found the bleed and stabilised her swiftly. It didn’t stop Alex from
pacing, though, and Kara had to sit her down before she wore out a path in the
‘You saved her, Alex.’
Alex shook her head. ‘You pulled her from the car, you’re
‘You kept her talking, you got her symptoms and you helped
her. That sounds like a hero to me. I should know, I wear a cape for a living.’
Alex smiled. ‘Thanks, Kara. Though it doesn’t matter. All
that matters is that she’s okay.’
‘That is the most important thing, definitely. But don’t
downplay your role in this. You did something amazing under tough
circumstances. That’s pretty incredible.’
It was but what was more incredible was seeing Maggie
finally come to, after hours sat at her bedside, waiting and slowly going
insane at the dull buzzing of machines. ‘Hey, pretty lady,’ Alex said with a
tired, but relieved and happy smile. ‘How are you feeling?’
‘I…’ Maggie squinted. ‘Rough.’
‘Are you in any pain?’ Alex pushed herself out of her chair
so she could stand over Maggie, so that Maggie didn’t try to sit up and so that
Alex could kiss her girl’s forehead.
‘No pain…just rough.’
‘Like you’ve been hit by a truck?’
‘Exactly,’ Maggie said a small grin, that became wider as
Alex ran fingers through her hair. ‘What’s the damage?’
‘Car – totalled. You – broken fibula, broken ribs and one
less spleen.’ But alive. Thank god, she
‘I thought I felt lighter,’ Maggie deadpanned. ‘You…and Kara…you
saved my life.’
‘Kara did all the leg work.’
As if expecting to find Kara hidden in a corner, Maggie’s
tired eyes scanned the room. ‘Is she here?’
‘Not at the moment but she’s been coming in and out all
Maggie nodded. ‘I know we don’t always see eye-to-eye but
she’s a good kid.’
‘Stubborn but well-meaning, is the term we prefer to use.’
Another nod, then: ‘If I had waited for an ambulance, would
I have died?’
‘Most likely, yes.’ Ruptured perhaps wasn’t the best term
for it; Maggie’s spleen had essentially exploded due to the impact. With the
time it would have taken to cut her free from the wreck, she wouldn’t have made
it into the back of an ambulance, let alone a hospital.
‘Don’t think about it, baby. You’re alive, that’s all that
‘I know, I know,’ she mumbled, raising a hand to touch Alex’s
cheek. ‘When you get bored of kicking ass…you should become a doctor.’
Alex frowned. ‘Hmm?’
‘C’mon, those questions you asked? I know where my spleen is–.
Was…whoa…that’s weird to say…you
diagnosed me over the phone didn’t you?’
‘It was a hunch.’
‘It was a good hunch.’
‘They did all the work, I–.’
‘Take some damn credit, Danvers. You saved my life. Geez.’
Maggie grimaced, closing her eyes, sinking into her pillow. ‘You don’t need a
cape to be a hero.’
Racing across the medical bay, she reached the side of the cryo pod. She stood there for what seemed like an eternity staring at the biometric readings. Over and over again she reviewed them in her mind. He was alive. He was still alive. She reminded herself of this fact several times while she waited for her heart to stop racing.
She still had her brother.
Sighing in relief, she placed a trembling hand atop the pod. She could feel the eyes of the medical staff boring into her. She knew they wanted to get to work. There was much to be done if they were going to keep him alive, but she needed to say something first.
Bending over the pod, she ignored the med staff’s interested staring, took a deep breath, and spoke from the heart.
“You better not die, you asshole. I didn’t drag my ass through space and time just to do this alone.” She pointed a hard finger at the top of the pod and scowled at the unyielding metal, picturing her brother’s face. “I swear, if you up and die on me I’ll bring you back to just to kill you myself.”
She straightened away from her twin’s cryo pod then. Without sparing a glance toward the med team, she hurried out of the medical bay.
He better not die, she thought to herself. I’ll kill him if he does.
