[flourishing a paper dramatically] for my next batch of weirdly specific and irrelevant headcanons, i give you: voltron driving hcs
pidge – too young to drive, but when she turns 16 literally no one is surprised to discover she is an awful driver. her turns are too sharp, her stops are too sudden, and she doesn’t watch her speedometer (“ma'am do you know how fast you were going?” “uh…35” “60”). i’m not entirely sure that she even passed her driving test, but i am totally sure she takes matt’s car anyway.
hunk – also not a great driver. he just. never really gets a feel for driving. in the first six months he drove, he got three flat tires and countless dents. good news: he’s good at fixing cars. he just cannot drive them.
lance – honestly, a good driver, but he always has music blasting and is always dancing and it scares the life out of hunk (“lance please put your hands on the wheel!” “lance please stop tapping your foot, that’s the gas pedal!” “LANCE YOURE GONNA MISS THAT TURN–”). he has never been in an accident, though, and genuinely enjoys driving. therefore he is the official driver between himself, pidge, and hunk.
keith – That Asshole who thinks traffic laws don’t apply to him. has never gone the speed limit in his life. common conversations in his car:
“keith, stop tailgating that guy, he’s going the speed limit” “well it’s too slow!!”
“keith stop that’s a red light” “don’t worry, there are no cars around and this intersection doesn’t have a camera”
“please slow down oh my god that’s a sharp turn yOURE GONNA FLIP THE CAR” “[laughing as the tires squeal]”
again, though, he is a genuinely Good Driver and has never been pulled over, much to lance’s annoyance.
shiro: everybody /thinks/ he’s a good driver bc he’s the model of safety whenever he’s driving the kids (“i’m not pulling out of the driveway until everyone is buckled up”). then, one day, the kids are driving on the highway and they see shiro’s car speed past, going at least 90mph and weaving between traffic. incredible.
allura: doesn’t drive often, but when she does, she has RIDICULOUS road rage. like, she’s a good driver otherwise, but whenever someone cuts her off or something, she’ll hold down the horn and then rant at her unfortunate passenger (usually shiro) for a solid minute. at least.
coran: perfect driver. uses turn signals perfectly, smooth turns, effortless merging. if he’s running late for something? all of that way past the speed limit. best driver.
matt: could be a good driver in theory, but never focused on the road. he zones out so easily that, like pidge, he’s almost constantly over the speed limit. “[staring unseeingly at the road for five minutes] shiro do you think gerard way is happy?“ "please god let me drive”
hahhah idk I have a lot of weird but pleasant interactions with strangers like today I was waiting to cross the road and there was a pre-teen boy standing in front of me and he looked around at me and said “I just got lunch” like he had to justify his existence and food to me?? and I was taken aback so I just went “nice” and he said “I’m going back to school. uh where are you going?” and I was like “home?” and gestured vaguely to my left and then the light changed and we were crossing and he was like “oh you live up that way?” and I was like “yeah it’s nice up there” and then he went “cool, see you” and walked his separate way and like I have no idea why any of that happened but it was chill and also only one of Many such encounters throughout my morning
some of my favourite absolutely SICK facts about the trappist-1 exoplanets:
- theyre all very close to one another and to their star, so the length of a year on them varies from 1 to 20 DAYS
- since they’re so close, the star appears a lot bigger than our sun from earth, and from one planet you could easily see the rest, some would even appear bigger than the moon from earth. you could literally see the surface of another planet with the naked eye!!!
- they’re probably tidally locked to their star like our moon is locked to earth, meaning only one side of a planet ever faces the star, and on the other side it’s always night. the sun never sets or rises on any of the planets
- the star is red, so the sunlight is red/orange, meaning if, for example, plants were to grow there, they could be black
and that’s just what we know now, imagine how much cool stuff we have yet to discover about the trappist-1 system
“The Sun and Moon did fall in love but no one said it was a happy story.”
Let’s talk my Sun/Moon Spirit AU ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
tumblr fucked up my image quality okay lets get that out of the way if you want better quality, click on the images.
Both Mari and Adrien are half-spirits, actually being part human.
On days they feel like it and are physically allowed, they transform into their ‘human’ versions.
Granted, their spirit versions look human but on Earth, they can be disguised as normal people.
As spirits, neither age and have seen centuries upon centuries of different decades. Though because of this, they can have fun adjusting to different eras and are fascinated with these ‘modern touchable squares’.
Each night before the dawn, Mari has to set out morning stars which Adrien can see when he awakes, a big reason why he fell in love with her.
Mari, however, has seen Adrien, but only in his human version, and not knowing who he is, falls in love with this human.
They only see eachother, of course, via eclipse.
When the eclipses occur, they don’t have a lot of time so every time it does;
“Moon Spirit, how lovely you look today! May I take your hand in marriage now?”
Mari always just laughs and politely declines but in the back of his head, he knows he does want her hand in marriage. They part ways, say the usual goodbye and “keep the morning stars coming’.
Then Adrien waits for the next eclipse. He always does.
More on this au and character designs to come and possibly a gifcomic when I get back to Australia but yeah, this one is semi-angsty and i’m r e a d y.
