the news is true, famed bassist and porridge man ross macdonald has left his band the 1975 to pursue a solo career in country music.

‘i left on my own terms’ macdonald says, not batting an eye. ‘and because matty was being a knob’

the solo artist’s self titled album drops this september, though he wishes he released it earlier. ‘it was difficult, i had to struggle out of Dirty Hit.’

with a whopping 43 songs on the album, it is fair to say that macdonald has been planning his departure for a while. ‘yeah? you think?’ the former bassist rolls his eyes.

you can pick up a copy of his album later this year, but for now keep an eye out for his vocal appearance in the 1975′s song Change of Heart!!
