I want to give my makeup a dewy finish, but my skin is incredibly dry, how do I do it?

When you’ve got dry skin the first thing you usually want to do is restore radiance and give it that beautiful, glossy finish. Dewy skin looks great, but many brands get it wrong with their dewy skin formulas making skin look more like a shiny disco ball than gorgeous and healthy. I’m known for having super glowy skin in my photos and tutorials!

Prep Your Skin Well

Skin prep is the most important thing in makeup, if your skin doesn’t look great then neither will your makeup. First up prep your skin by cleansing gently (I like to use a micellar water) after cleansing apply a good moisturiser, you want something that provides a lot of hydration, but doesn’t feel super heavy on the skin. I love: Trilogy Very Gentle Moisturising Cream and Crop Natural Hydrating Daily Facial Moisturiser. A primer can also be of huge benefit to you if you are after a dewy finish, try something with light reflecting particles like the Laura Mercier Radiance Foundation Primer. I’ve also created a tutorial showing you how to properly prep your skin for makeup.

Use the Right Foundation

If you want dewy skin, you want to be using the right foundation. Stay clear of anything that is mattifying or super full coverage and instead opt for something dewy and light. I recommend: Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation, Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation.

Use a Lot of Creams

If you are using a lot of powders variations of products such as highlighter, bronzer, contour and blush  this could be an issue. If you want your skin to look dewy and glowy you want to be skipping the powder and opting for cream and liquid formulas wherever you can. I swear by the Kevyn Aucoin Creamy Glow Formula, it blends beautifully over foundation and is available in a wide range of blushes, contour and highlight shades.

F  A  V  O  R  I  T  E  S

I have finally got around to making this ridiculously long list of my favorite products that I use pretty much every day! I gave as much detail as I thought fit for each product and included various pros and cons. I will not provide links since a quick Google search will give you all the information you need on where you can purchase these items. All items are split into categories to make this post more organized. I do not have any affiliate codes or links. I created this list as a way to share my most loved cosmetics and to give honest reviews of drugstore and high-end products. Your feedback is welcome and much appreciated. Without further acknowledgments, let’s get started:

anonymous asked:

Hi I'm new to makeup and I was wondering what products you think every beginner needs. (Please be cheap)

Sorry this took so long for me to reply, I wanted to make sure I got a list of products that were both cheap and up to-par!

TOTAL: $62 These are all drugstore makeup brands and I tried to find the most affordable products worth the money. I would suggest starting out with foundation, concealer, mascara and eyeliner (It’s what I started with), and then work your way into the other items I’ve listed! You will need brushes and I look at them as more of an investment, which is why I’m willing to dole out more money but the E.l.f brushes are cheap, decent ones to start with! You can also check out Wet N Wild, because they have affordable brushes, too. If you’re willing to spend a little bit more money, I whole-heartedly recommend Real Technique Brushes, they are amazing for the price and last a long time! Hope this helps!!

So I decided to buy the Benefit Hello Flawless foundation. I’ve always used the Maybelline Fit Me liquid foundation or foundation stick, but lately I’ve noticed its too pink for my skin. I needed something with a yellow undertone, so this one was perfect. I’m in the lightest shade “I’m pure 4 sure” Ivory. I haven’t actually worn it out yet, but for just trying a little on, I like it!

if you have any questions about these products, message me :-)

I either use a light layer of the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation or just any random drugstore concealer on my acne and I blend it with a real techniques sponge and use Coty Airspun powder under my eyes, around my nose, my forehead, my chin, and the sides of my face ! I use lots of different eyebrow gels cuz  I don’t really care but right now I have the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in the second to the darkest shade ? But I’m changing that soon because my hair’s black now. I don’t really use any eyeshadow anymore except like a little bit of dark brown in my crease sometimes, and I also don’t use liquid eyeliner! I just use a black pencil liner (NYX Retractable Eyeliner in ‘Black’) to make like … not even a full point, just a teeny tiny one on the sides of my eyes and then I blend it and make it a lil dark under my lash line (and I use like 3 layers of Maybelline ‘The Falsies cuz I have No Eyelashes). I then use a generous amount of Colourpop’s blush ‘Cheerio’ and a tiny little bit of their highlight ‘Stole the Show’ on my nose ! Aaaand I also now use Revlon Photoready powder in ‘Light / Medium’ for my cheeks too so I have a little color instead of looking like a total corpse like I used to (and I use a face powder to do that cuz I think it blends out easier for me). And then the best part of my makeup I think, my lipstick!!! I use a Lip Studio Color Blur Lip Pencil in ‘Partner in Crimson’ :-) !

And once you do all that, u look like Dis
