Cold, clammy winter still held sway in this forsaken country. The only green was the scum of livid weed on the dark greasy surfaces of the sullen waters. Dead grasses and rotting reeds loomed up in the mists like ragged shadows of long forgotten summers.
so I had a lot of deep feelings about two weeks ago and wrote this sheith WIP that I… most likely will never finish, so I just decided to post it as is, lmao~
“You still have feelings for him,” Allura says. Blinking, Shiro tears his eyes away from Keith and finds Allura observing him with a knowing gaze.
“Still?” he crosses his arms and tries to ignore the tiny smirk playing upon her lips.
“Shiro,” she says matter-of-factly with a pointed look. “I’ve known for quite some time now.”
Shiro shakes his head in defeat, admittedly impressed. “That obvious, huh?”
“Well,” Allura says with a teasing smile. “You aren’t exactly subtle.”
Shiro can’t argue with this, so he smiles back and shrugs.
“When are you going to tell him?” she prompts, eyes shifting over to the rest of the paladins where Lance is clearly entertaining them with an amusing story. Keith leans against the jaw of the Red Lion, listening to their fellow teammate with an adorable smile on his face. At the sight of his ease and comfort in being with their new family like this, Shiro feels a warm glow spreading in his chest. It isn’t too long ago that Keith had only reserved that smile for him. They’ve all come such a long way.
Despite all this, he feels his lungs deflate when he thinks about the prospect of telling Keith how he feels. It would change everything and there would be no going back. Not to mention, Shiro couldn’t help hearing Keith’s voice echo in his mind, Shiro, you’re like a brother to me.
Like a brother…
Sighing, Shiro shrugs and looks back at Allura.
“He doesn’t feel the same way,” he says in a resigned tone.
“So you’ve told him already?” Allura raises her eyebrows in surprise.
“No,” Shiro says, watching as Keith’s smile turns into a small chuckle. Although the sound doesn’t carry over to them, Shiro can hear the soft, deep rumble of Keith’s voice in his ears. “But I know him.”
He hears an exasperated groan from Allura and turns to face her with eyebrows raised in confusion.
“You guys are so hopeless,” she says, shaking her head.
