Listen, I'm about to hit you with some headcanons are you ready? Ulysses was very young -- maybe an infant -- when the Twisted Hairs brokered their arrangement with the Legion. Caesar didn't betray them until after he'd conquered all the rest of Arizona which may have taken a long time since his push westward into Nevada only began within the last decade. Plenty of time for Ulysses to grow up and prove himself; one of the best scouts doesn't necessarily mean one of the oldest. [1/6ish?]

Imagine this kid who literally grew up during the long conquest of Arizona’s tribes and was raised on the idea that scouting for their “allies” the Legion was a position of honor, and he blossomed into one of the very best. This kid who’s soft spoken and cerebral weaned on tracking and survival lessons then making his parents proud. This brash, self-assured twenty-something man then seeing the world but watching it fall apart around his parents’ bodies pinned up beside I-40. [2/6]

Not all his tribesmen died fighting; some bent their heads and did as they had to to survive, but when they cut their hair they weren’t Tribe anymore. To Ulysses the men who joined the Legion are different men than the ones who helped raise him and grew alongside him. But what if there’s still at least one who finds time to care about the kid. That fucking nerdy kid who used to sit staring into the fire at camp just THINKING until someone joked that there was smoke coming out if his ears. [3/6]

I imagine, from the way he talks, Ulysses usually doesn’t talk much at all to others – except the Courier which is a whole different sack of cats. But everything he has to say at the Divide is stuff he’s kicked around in his own head so long without sharing much or any of it with anyone. In the Legion he got by with pointed gestures whenever he could because he was so burnt out just opening his mouth to speak was more than he had the mental energy for anymore. But IMAGINE. [4/6]

Imagine a former friend or an uncle or a cousin who secretly finds opportunities, once in a blue moon when they’re at camp at the same time, to check in privately on Ulysses and his mental health and try to coax him to talk, just a bit, just for a while. And this is mostly an exercise in futility but boy that kid isn’t doing well and this former tribesman isn’t going to stop checking. But man oh man. He’s gonna wish he had. [5/6]

dude this is so sad but i love it. i completely agree that ulysses was pretty young when legion first came to the twisted hairs (though i hc that he was at least 12 when that happened - around the age where he’d want to prove that he wasn’t a child anymore and small + quick enough to be get into the spaces other scouts can’t), and around 30? when the legion betrayed his tribe. he didn’t rebel bc he didn’t want to see even more of his tribe’s number diminish, and since i also hc him as the twisted hairs’ lore-keeper, he realized his importance in keeping the history of them alive. i imagine having caesar pick him to be one of the frumentarii (and therefore be under vulpes inculta’s direct command) stung.

tbh talking about ulysses’ pre-legion/during legion life is always sad but yours? with baby ulysses growing up under legion rule and not knowing anything else and be disillusioned so badly?? goddamn dude

Prepping your print from file to finish:

I always hear people complaining about how much better the piece looked digitally, SO, here is a run down on how to get prints that look more like your original piece.

First of all, every printer is different.  Every paper is different.  Make sure you take the time to do test prints and become familiar with how your printer and paper combo work, as you’ll rarely nail a print your first try.  This one took about 5 test prints before I was confident to print on the expensive large paper Every time I mess up on a print, I save the remaining paper to use as scraps for test prints.

As you can see, the original piece looks very nice!  The focus is super strongly on the tiger, and all of the vibrant colors are still super evident in the background.  That said, when I print it as is, everything about 85% gray or darker turns BLACK.  And this is high quality paper designed to get accurate vibrant colors, too.

The best way to fix this is to do layer effects.  Brightness/contrast is my favorite, as a typical piece will generally print about 5x better if you up the brightness to around 15-25, and adjust the contrast up or down by 5-10 points.  That said, if you have a HIGH contrast piece (Darks against brights) like this one, you typically need to do a few more steps.

Often I’ll do a second brightness/contrast adjustment layer and push brightness to an obnoxious level so the darkest darks are closer to a mid-dark range.  From there, I’ll create a mask and use a transparent gradient tool to slowly pull back the brightness on all of the lighter areas of the image.

Additionally, due to printers using CMYK and your screen being RBG certain colors just physically CANNOT print.  Some people will always work in CMYK because of this, but honestly I like my saturated colors and most of my work is intended to be seen digitally so I only ever work in RGB.  Photoshop has a nifty toggle (Ctrl + Y) where you can toggle between CMYK and RGB view to see how your piece will appear when it prints.  It’s useful to check this because if you worked in a color that cannot replicate in print, you may want to shift it entirely before you even bother printing.

Artwork tends to desaturate a bit as it prints, so I’ll often make a Hue/saturation layer to play with, too.  In this case the image was already pretty damn saturated, BUT some of the shadows on the tiger were printing more brown than orange, so I adjusted the saturation a bit to keep them vibrant with the rest of the image.
**DO NOT use “Lightness” to lighten your image!  It basically adds a white overlay to your image.  Always use Brightness, instead.

After all of that, I have a final print that much more closely captures the essence of the original painting.  I could have tinkered even more, but to me the goal is a good print rather than an exact copy.

For ULTRA high contrast images, like a dark room looking out into a snowy exterior, expect to do a LOT of adjustment to get it to print correctly.  Printers just aren’t too fond of super darks right up against super lights.

I could make a proper tutorial on this if people request it.  Mostly, just wanted to put my thoughts down in one spot!

So as you might have guessed, that episode absolutely ruined me. What do I do after watching it? Put on some sad music and re-draw the scene, because apparently I like to suffer. This got entirely out of hand. :”)

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go watch the entire bomb again.

Leather Jackets - Bucky Barnes AU

Request: “Can you make a Bucky imagine in which he’s like the bad boy who is really cool and falls for y/n and is super sweet around her?” // I did it as a Greaser AU because I was listening to the Grease soundtrack while writing lol

Word Count: 1167 // My requests are still open!!

The Greasers didn’t like to be messed with. If you’re not at their level, you can’t speak to them. You go near them, you’re dead.

Pacing quickly down the sidewalk, you avoided the glare of the boys in the red Chevrolet parked across the street. A message alert on your phone made you stop, pulling your phone out of your pocket.

Steve: Just overheard that the Greasers are gonna be at the coffee shop. Be careful.

Mentally groaning in fear of anyone hearing you, you slipped into the door of the cafe, walking with your head down.

“Hi, uh, Miss? What would you like?” The barista grinned at you, as you looked up from your phone. “Sorry, can I just have a juice please?”

“What’s your name?” She asked, holding your cup in one hand and a sharpie in the other. “Y/N.” You pronounced, smiling back.

Soon enough, your name was called and you took your drink, walking out of the store.

You looked around before pushing the door open, seeing the Chevrolet had moved. Breathing a sigh of relief, you pushed the door open and began your walk home.

Going to grab your phone from your back pocket, you bumped into someone.

Feeling a hand on your back, you looked up, making direct eye contact with one of the leaders of the greaser gang, Bucky Barnes.

“I am so sorry, I really wasn’t concentrating. I should look where I’m going, sorr-” You mumbled, rambling away, “Hey, don’t worry about it. Y/N, is it?” He smiled warmly at you, “Uh, yeah, that’s me.”

“We have English together, right?” He asked, trying to making eye contact as you looked everywhere but his into his eyes.

“That we do,” you laughed nervously, “See you Monday, I guess.”

“See you Monday, Y/N.” He smiled, brushing past you as you walked back home, texting Steve about your ‘incident’.

Soon enough, Monday rolled around.

School always dragged along on a Monday. Whether it be the non existent enthusiasm from the students, or the bore of lessons from teachers paid less than they’re owed.

Grabbing your bag and heading out of the classroom, you avoided the glare of the same boys from the coffee shop stood outside your classroom.

You felt their eyes leave as you trailed outside to try and find your friends, Steve and Peggy.

Walking past the bleachers, you felt all eyes on you as hands gripped your shoulders.

“If it isn’t Little Miss Y/N.” You span around to be met with the eyes of one of Bucky’s gang, another member of the Greasers.

“H-hi?” You questioned, looking away from where he stared deeply at you, backed by two more Greasers; the rest sat on the bleachers.

“Y/N, Y/N, Y/N. May I ask why this pretty little mouth of yours was talking to Barnes outside the coffee shop last night?” You looked up, horrified that anyone had seen yours and Bucky’s conversation.

“I-I didn’t mean anything by it! I bumped into hi-” He pressed a finger over your lips, his minions trailing behind you, as he whistled for more of them to come over.

You were surrounded. You’d seen this happen before, and you prayed every night that they would never do it to you.

Grabbing your bag roughly off your shoulders, you gasped as they pulled your books out one by one, until they reached your sketchbook.

“Well what do we have here? A sketchbook! Let’s have a looky here shall we?” He smirked, picking up the black book from your feet.

Flipping through your doodles and practices, you prayed they wouldn’t find your illustration of the picture Bucky had posted recently.

But they did. Just your luck.

“And it gets better! How 'bout we show this to Buck when he gets here, hey? Is that what you want, Y/N? Attention? Well, sweetheart, that’s what you’re gonna get.”

Tears began to spill down your cheeks as he cascaded the sketchbook to the ground once again, the pencil drawing looking like a watercolour.

“Now, Y/N. How 'bouts we deal with you.” He spat, getting closer to your face. Grinning, he grabbed your hair and pulled your face up to meet his eyes.

Taking a harsh slap to the face, you looked into his eyes as he laughed, “Fuck. You.” you spat.

“What was that, Y/N? Say that again.” He looked shocked, but hid it. “I said fuck you.” He looked at you again, “You’re gonna regret that Y/N.”

Taking another hit, you saw the blood hit the concrete on the other side of the book.

“Hey!” A loud voice echoed from outside their circle, as the rest of the group scattered, you sank to the floor.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doin’?” Bucky asked the boy stood opposite you, as you let more tears flow. “You know what, I don’t wanna hear it. Back off.”

Bucky kneeled in front of you, smiling softly. “Y/N?”

“Y-yeah?” You held your nose in fear of it bleeding further.

“I’m so sorry the did that to you, I promise I would never have let them if I would’ve known. Are you alright?”

“Apart from nursing a headache and this nose bleed, I’ll be okay.” You smiled back up at him, his eyes glistening as he looked at you. “Shit, you need to get to the nurse.” He looked around you at the destruction of your bag, trying to pick up your scattered books.

“Did you draw this?” He asked, awe taking over his features. “Um, yes, I did. I’m sorry, it’s lame. I just saw the picture on my feed and I needed prac-”

“Y/N, babe, this is incredible.” He grinned from ear to ear, holding the book so delicately. “T-thank you, Bucky. It means a lot.” He slung your bag over his shoulder, offering you a hand as he led you to the nurses office.

“I’m still so sorry, Y/N. Can I please take you for coffee or something to make up for it?” He asked, brushing your hair behind your ear as you held tissue to your nose.

“I don’t drink coffee, but I’m definitely always down for pizza.” You laughed, Bucky joining you. “Well, pizza it is. Are you free tonight?”

- 6 months later -

Finishing the final sentence of your last-minute homework, you shoved the books into your bag as a knock at the door snapped you out of the world of your science work.

Opening the door with a smile, you saw Bucky, donned in his leather jacket and all black outfit.

“Mornin’ baby.” He smiled, pressing a kiss to your lips as you grinned into it. “Good morning, Bucky.”

“Did you sleep okay?” He asked, interlocking his fingers with yours. “I’d sleep better if my boyfriend wouldn’t keep messaging me every five minutes!”

“Well forgive me for caring about you!” He laughed, pressing a kiss to your temple.

“You know I love you really.” You nudged him slightly as he grinned. “I love you too, doll.”

i know namjoon gets a lot of acknowledgement for using english to talk to international fans (as well he should), but i also really want to praise the rest of the members too. they may not be fluent but they’re trying so hard to learn even if its just a few words here and there. it honestly makes me so happy and grateful when they use english on the vlive chats or in videos. they don’t even have to do all that, but seeing that they’re so eager to communicate with everyone and the fact that they put in so much work to do so is incredibly heartwarming. i hope they know that all their efforts are genuinely appreciated and that we love them so much for it.

Queens of Mewni & Their Cheek Symbol

So, I just thought to make the list of the cheek symbols of the Queens of Mewni for my next analysis (the significance of these cheek symbols). The first column were the image of the queens, second is their cheek symbols, third is symbolism’s meaning I got from the internet, and fourth is what traits I think you needed to get that symbol in the SVTFOE universe (in short, what the symbol signifies).

SVTFOE Card Suite Symbolism speculation:

Heart - people with this symbol are very lovable and has a distinguishing “charm” that naturally attracts people and come to her side. They prioritize their relationship with others compared to anything else and usually let their heart dictates their action (emotional). They are often found as center of the group

Spade - people with this symbol wields strong and fearsome power, even more powerful than normal and typical queens.

Diamond - people with this symbol have the tendency to take the center of command and shoulder the burden and responsibility by their selves. They dress in jewelry and finery, conducting their selves as befitting of nobility.

Club - people with this symbol have the “common” mindset. They appreciate the values that works for the greater whole of society and hates anything that could destroy the social order they are comfortable and grew up in already.

Color symbolism speculation:

Shades of purple - elegance, nobility, regal

Yellow - bright, lively

Pink - lovely, feminine,

White - harmony, power, everything (as it is combination of all colors of light. That’s why Moon said you must give everything if you want to “dip down”)

Character-Building Tips

- Unopinionated characters might seem likeable or diplomatic to you, but they’re boring to the audience. Your characters may choose not to take sides in certain matters (ex. their parents’ divorce, a fight between friends, etc), but they have to believe in some things. And opinionated characters make opinionated audiences, and that means interested and emotionally-invested audiences.

- Write any scenes that stumble into your mind and enchant you, even if you think (or know) those scenes probably won’t end up in the final draft. No matter what you do with them, those scenes will still tell you something about your character(s), and that will enrich the rest of your story.

- Make risky characters. If you think your character might offend your audience or a certain part of it, write your character anyways. It could be a bad character with good views about certain subjects or vice versa, but either way it will show three-dimensionality.

- If you’re having trouble with your character being realistic or 3D, get to the root of their person. Don’t ask “what drives them as a plot device?” but “what drives them as a person?” – if you know their motivations as a person, their purpose in the plot will surface.

- Stay away from stereotypes, unless you’re writing a comedy.

Hope this helps. - @authors-haven

  • Harry: Why?!

  • Draco: DO YOU?! No loving parent would name their kid Albus-Severus!
  • Harry: They were two of the greatest wizards known to--
  • Draco: One of them lied to you all your life and raised you like a pig for slaughter. The other one despised the very sight of you.
  • Harry: Snape sacrificed himse--
  • Draco: He just wanted to fuck your mum, may her soul rest in peace!
  • Harry: Our son would command respect with a name like that!
  • Draco: He would literally never get laid. Ever.

Aliens and Autism

But aliens learning about autistic people and being confused by our behavior !

“But why don’t you treat them equally as well?”

“No, we totally do!” The human, Lorie by name, looked hurt and confused.

‘Todd’ (their name was very very long but they liked this English human name) shook their head. “No, you don’t. You treat them like they aren’t as marvelous as the rest of your species. One said they were made to feel ‘broken’ when we spoke. That is not good.”

Lorie reeled. “I… I thought we had started doing better. Accommodating their illness.”

“Illness?” Todd was confused now. “But they are not ill. They are not made to the same neurological specifications as what your medicine defines as nominal for your species, but they are as exceptional and unique as your entire species amongst us. Your species seems to have an exceedingly arbitrary limit to how much a person may be ‘eccentric’ before you shun them.”

Lorie’s cheeks heated. “I’m ashamed, but they make us uncomfortable.

“But you tolerate Bill, and he is obnoxious, makes unwanted references to mating, and prioritizes physical contact over others comfort. He just received a promotion. Does he not make you uncomfortable?”

The human tech couldn’t meet the Yotruvan’s eyes. “I suppose you need a mirror to see your own face. Thanks, Todd.” She smiled but Todd did not think she was happy, and he was confused.

Days later, Potre pulled Todd aside. “Hey, Todd?” The Yotruvan remembered not to look this human in the eye and kept the amount of space they were comfortable with.

“Yes, Potre?”

“Did you talk to the other humans? About me. Me, I mean.”

Todd could not judge their emotional state by their voice, but their posture seemed to express fear and hope, an odd combination. Yotruvans expressed little in tone or facial expressions but their amorphous body made them excellent at displaying and reading body language. “I asked why they treated autistic members of your species poorly.”

“Oh. Thanks.” Potre made a small movement and Todd nodded, acknowledging their gratitude and friendship. Potre walked down the hall and Todd was left again wondering at how often humans would thank others and never explain what they meant.

Remarkable species. Always surprising.

How Kirishima May Be the Traitor (Traitor Theory)

I wrote a post a while back speculating Kirishima’s past. While doing so, I noticed that it’s possible for Kirishima to be the traitor. Some of this is rehashing what I said when I speculated Kirishima’s past. Although, everything I’ll talk about are reasons or support for why or how Kirishima may be the traitor.

I know this opinion is not going to be a popular one. Some people have dismissed the idea of Kirishima being the traitor, especially after Kirishima’s character development during the Internship Arc. However, after skimming through the manga and after reading the most recent chapters, I actually think Kirishima is the one who’s most likely to be the traitor. I’m not saying he is the traitor, but there are signs pointing to Kirishima possibly being the traitor.

Even if Kirishima is the traitor, he is still probably a good guy, and if he worked for the villains, he meant well. He has always had good values. The series has made that clear. Unfortunately, someone may have convinced him back when he was around middle school-aged that the villains are on the side of good and the heroes are harming society. I’ll explain more about it later as I show some evidence.

As I mentioned in a previous post, Kirishima really empathizes with a villain.

Kirishima feels like he understands what the villain is going through and is even willing to tell the villain his backstory AFTER that same villain shot his senpai and put Kirishima and other civilians in danger. A part of that has to do with Kirishima being a really nice guy and another part has to do with Kirishima understanding the need to become stronger. However, Kirishima’s empathy feels too strong for just that. I think he understands the villain because Kirishima was once part of the villains too.

First of all, Kirishima was different before entering U.A.

He makes an appearance in the chapter three according to Horikoshi.

Even though Kirishima is supposed to be in chapter three, if you go through chapter three, you won’t find anyone with Kirishima’s familiar spiky hair. Instead, you find a black-haired individual who has hair that looks like Kirishima’s hair when it’s down and a Quirk that’s very similar to Kirishima’s.

For some odd reason, it looks like Kirishima suddenly changes his appearance before entering U.A. This isn’t the only evidence of Kirishima being a different person from when he was in middle school. In middle school, he also bought the same keyholder as Tokoyami, hinting that in middle school, he had similar, darker interests to Tokoyami.

Kirishima may have changed from a darker appearance to the heroic persona we know now. It’s possible that if he was part of the villains before entering U.A., he had this dark appearance back in middle school and then changes himself to blend in with the U.A. hero students. He’d be less suspicious if he looks and acts more like a hero. It’d make being a spy for the villains easier. He may have based his appearance on Crimson Riot.

Kirishima also really makes strong attempts to befriend Bakugou even though Bakugou doesn’t have a heroic personality.

Kirishima wants to befriend Bakugou despite his more villainous personality, even back when other classmates don’t like Bakugou because of his mean personality. Kirishima is a friendly guy and likes Bakugou’s “manly” behavior, but Kirishima may also understand and relate to Bakugou’s personality. Kirishima may have been around villains and understands their personalities, so Kirishima understands Bakugou pretty well and even relates to him since he was a villain himself. Bakugou’s personality also may have made Bakugou a candidate to becoming a villain himself. Kirishima may have gotten close to Bakugou so that he can recruit Bakugou into the League of Villains. Kirishima may have recommended Bakugou to the villains, and this may be one of the reasons the villains captured Bakugou at training camp.

During the months Kirishima spends at U.A., he may start to realize heroes aren’t the bad guys and that he wants to be a hero himself. He even grows to care for his classmates. Even so, Kirishima would still be on the villains’ side until Bakugou gets captured.

When he hears the villains are after Bakugou, he’s devastated. His reaction to Bakugou’s capture is really important. Even though he may have wanted Bakugou to be part of the League of Villains, he may not have thought the villains would capture Bakugou by force. This would cause Kirishima to finally acknowledge the villains are not the good guys, and he feels immense guilt about Bakugou’s capture.

Kirishima feels so much guilt, that he wants to rescue Bakugou.

It’s kind of odd how Kirishima really blames himself for Bakugou getting capture even though he’s supposedly the least involved with the actual capture. He isn’t with Midoriya and Todoroki when Bakugou gets captured. This whole thing isn’t his responsibility, yet Kirishima feels REALLY guilty about Bakugou getting captured.

Kirishima may have told the villains the location of the training camp by using his cellphone as a tracking device.

He brings his cellphone to training camp. Once at camp, during the night time, he may have helped the villains raid the camp.

On the night the villains attack, he’s one of the few students not shown sleeping.

One of the boys’ beds is empty, hinting that a boy is out and possibly helping the villains.

Later, Kirishima is notably more tired than almost everyone if not more tired than everyone. (That may be because of the remedial lessons though.)

Keep in mind, Kirishima is one of the few students not shown to fighting villains during the training camp raid or getting hurt by them. He was trapped in the main lodge with the rest of the remedials.

It would have been difficult for him to help the villains because he can’t leave the lodge. In the panels above, he wants to leave to stop the villains from capturing Bakugou.

If Kirishima helps the villains invade the training camp, then it would probably be the last time Kirishima helps the villains. He may have officially turned on them when he decides to rescue Bakugou. He possibly even stole night vision goggles from the villains in order to do so.

Kirishima is evasive when it comes to the origin of those night vision goggles. They probably came from somewhere Kirishima isn’t proud of. He won’t even quickly tell Midoriya about where he got the night vision goggles from and seems pretty guilty after Bakugou gives him back money for it. Kirishima overall looks suspicious when it comes to the night vision goggles.

Now, who would have convinced a good guy like Kirishima to be part of the villains? It would be someone close to Kirishima. My guess is it’s a relative. It may possibly be the rock villain from the League of Villains.

And that villain looks similar to Kirishima during Red Riot Unbreakable.

Who is this villain who Kirishima may be close to? My guess is it’s someone who’s two years older than Kirishima, an older brother possibly.

Neijire says Togata got rough with someone and caused that person to quit being a hero. That person caused a lot of problems later. When Neijire says this, the manga shows Kirishima up close twice, hinting that the person who Togata got too rough with may be someone Kirishima knows. I’m guessing the kid who quit is a classmate or someone who’s around Togata’s age. That person may be the rock villain mentioned before. If that person became a villain because of Togata, then he possibly has a huge grudge against heroes and thinks they are harmful to society. If he’s close to Kirishima, he possibly helped turn Kirishima into a villain and encourage Kirishima to work with villains like him. If someone close to Kirishima was hurt by the heroes and tried convincing Kirishima to join the villains, Kirishima would be likely to join the villains to fight against the heroes who he thinks is harming society, especially if the person who was hurt by the heroes is his brother or some other close relative. Kirishima would have been in middle school if he joined the villains. That is such a young and impressionable age. He could have meant well and was trying to help make society a better place by joining the villains because those around him told him so. The villains possibly convinced him that the heroes were pushing the poor criminals down and holding society back. Kirishima, unlike Bakugou, is easy to inspire and vulnerable to misdirection. It would be easy for villains to convince him he’s doing the right thing.

It’s actually sad to think about. I can imagine a sweet and innocent middle school-aged Kirishima working for the villains because he thinks the villains are helping people and the heroes are the bad guys. Later, after being at U.A. for while, he discovers the heroes are actually the good guys and he wants to be a hero. He would have then realized, as the traitor, he put his classmates in danger multiple times and caused Bakugou to get captured. The guilt he would feel from that would be soul crushing.  Bakugou feels guilty about All Might losing his powers. Think about Kirishima would feel after all that.

This is my best attempt at making a traitor theory. It’s definitely possible that Kirishima isn’t the traitor. I don’t want him to be the traitor, but I don’t think it’s impossible like some people are making it seem.

D&D inspired eyeshadow palettes

I really like the leather + gold + touches of color idea of this line, so I continued it in these eyeshadows. Colors are picked and named from spells that each class has available to them. They were selected due to name length (or how well they work as cosmetic names), if they were exclusive to the class, or if the spell fit that palette more than another. A lot of classes share spells, after all. If your fave spell isn’t on here, sorry, I really tried the best I could! There’s a LOT to potentially pick from.
These include palettes for Wizard, Warlock, Bard, Paladin, Cleric, and Druid. I may do the rest at a later point!

Colors for these palettes were selected based on the perfumes that started everything.

(This isn’t a real product, just an art project for fun.)

“love" by jack zimmermann || a zimbits fic || 3.3k

“Come in.” Bitty thanks the lord for the legitimate reprieve from the essay he’s been painfully forcing himself through all afternoon.

Jack enters, looking happier than normal. Bitty sees why immediately, and the smile that came onto his face when he saw Jack slips right back into a frown. Jack’s holding another memory card.

“I’m got some new footage,” Jack says in confirmation of Bitty’s fears.

“Jack, you’ve got to stop giving me new material.”

Jack’s smile drops at Bitty’s harsh tone, and his eyebrows draw together in a way that would be adorable if not for the circumstance and the fact Bitty is the one to make them that way. “Why?”

“Coz, honey, it’s not gonna help.” Bitty’s too exhausted to bother being embarrassed that the endearment slipped out.

Jack opens his mouth lamely. He looks down at the memory card in his hand then back to Bitty with sad eyes.

“Sit down.” Bitty gestures to his bed, thankful that he made it earlier while procrastinating. He rubs his sore eyes as Jack perches on the bed, then sighs out.

“Your assessment is to create a two-minute video based on love, yes?”

Jack nods. Bitty rubs at his eyes again, thinking of how to be honest without being hurtful.

“You’re an amazing photographer, and it comes across.” Jack picks his head up, looking hopefully at Bitty. It breaks his heart to have to continue. “But there’s no story here. There’s no love. I mean, unless your story is that you really love your camera. I can’t… I’m sorry, I can’t help you make anything out of this.”

Bitty tries to make his voice gentle. Jack turns his head away from Bitty anyway, but not quick enough that Bitty can’t see the hurt.

Bitty’s happily been helping Jack with his AV assessment after Jack asked. He gets to spend time with Jack doing something that Jack loves. But now he owes it as a friend to tell Jack the truth, even if it makes them both sad.

“Sorry, Bits,” Jack mumbles, still not looking at him.

“It’s alright.” Bitty already feels a little guilty for springing it on Jack with no warning. He crosses his arms, then realises that may come across as defensive if Jack ever looks back at him, so rests them back on his knees. “Look, I don’t mean to be rude, I just want you to do well.”

Jack gives a brisk nod, but still avoids looking back at Bitty.

Bitty’s not sure what else he can do for Jack, so he simply waits.

Jack clears his throat after a moment and stands up. He looks at the memory card before putting it into a pocket.

“Thanks anyway. Sorry for interrupting your essay.”

“It’s alright,” Bitty repeats, but Jack’s already out the door.

Bitty slumps into his seat and stares at his closed door. He really didn’t mean to hurt Jack, but he didn’t think what he said would be that much of a shock either. Jack’s not ignorant to emotion, no-matter what the news articles sometimes say about him.

He swings his chair back round to stare at his essay, starting up on it again as a distraction.

r u KIDDIN me with that deleted scene like look they are such an old married couple, chirrut saying “yes yes” and waving his hand in the general direction of where he knows baze to be and meanwhile of course baze is actively doing shit that will Get Them Out Of There and could chirrut be helping? of course he could. is it more fun to stand there and troll his husband about his staunch atheism? absolutely.

and baze physically dragging chirrut out of the cell, he is not gentle but only bc he knows he doesn’t need to be?? they know e/o so well i’m? no one else around them may as well even exist the rest of the world is just static you can tell they’re each easily the most interesting thing to each other for miles around in every direction

and they’re both grinning as they escape because explosions? rogue pilots? this is the most fun they’ve had in years and also because they both know the other one thinks they’re full of shit and they’re both totally fine w/ it and it’s hilarious to them god they’re so in love ok this whole movie was basically Baze and Chirrut’s Second Honeymoon (With Probably Only Slightly More Revolution Than the First Honeymoon)
