judgment has a way of creeping into every relationship. even the most intimate. if we’re lucky, somewhere along the way we meet a few people who listen to us without criticism or reproach. we call those people our friends.
Set to be directed by Meadowland’s Reed Morano, the drama tells the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the U.S. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted religious fundamentalism that treats women as property of the state. As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (played by Elisabeth Moss) is a handmaid in the commander’s household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world.
As THR first reported, Wiley will play Offred’s best friend from college, her fellow handmaid-in-training at the Red Center, and a connection to life before Gilead. Co-starring are
Max Minghella and The Leftovers’ Ann Dowd.
