Bentheim Castle (detail) by Jacob Van Ruisdael. Die Burg Bentheim is an early medieval hill castle in Bad Bentheim, Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), Northern Germany. It was first mentioned in the 11th century and is located near the famous Teutoburger Wald. It’s still owned by the Prince of Bentheim-Steinfurt who lives at Steinfurt Castle. It’s home to some of his siblings and is also open to the public as a family museum.
