The thing is I still have no idea how to post the video in the text post, every single time I try it, following the tutorial every step, I always get the link or even worse nothing instead. So I figure I might as well post the video first instead.

DAY 26 A Favourite Quote From Him

I like his answer in this particular interview. It is evident that the interviewer aimed for  materialistic , She meant for it to be kind of funny, but Richard actually came up with the profound and endearing answer; his Arkenstone is Respect. I think it is interesting how he stated that Respect “is the thing that always eludes you, and you’ll  have to fight for it. And when you get it, your Arkenstone, the thing that crowns you, it’s respect.” I think this quote tells a great deal of him and his personality. I don’t know I think maybe Richard had gone through a hard time himself, so he probably know the firsthand experience of being treated as such, therefore he’s always treated other people with respect. This is pure speculation, though. I have no idea what he had or had not gone through.

Anyhow, as you probably are aware by now that I can’t manage to write anything short and meaningful. In my defense, I think It has something to do with my passion for history and story, I’d love to collect them and create a kind of storage for them. I have been going through the memorable quotes from Richard Armitage Quotes x who are also responsible for this lovely challenge ( An enjoyable reading indeed!). I couldn’t bring myself not to share all the adorable and inspiring things the man has said….so I have picked ‘some’ of them; some are hilarious, some serious, some may resonate with you as it is with me more than others but they all are reflecting Richard and who he is.

So…

“Nothing is antiphysical in the physical world.”

Anacharsis Cloots (1755-1794), arguing that same-sex sexuality isn’t unnatural by utilizing Diderot’s materialistic argument that all that exists cannot be outside of or against nature. Those who denounced same-sex passions often used the argument that it was an unnatural practice. Even the word ‘antiphysique’ was used to refer to unnatural passions/acts/attractions, including same-sex attractions. Here, Cloots turns that argument against them.

The absolute worst are the people who will concede that Hillary (or Obama or whoever) is a war criminal and an imperialist and supports drones and NSA spying and on and on and on

and then try to justify their support of these criminals by making vague claims as to their ‘progressiveness’ in ‘other areas’

It’s like they’re saying, “Yeah yeah, dropping hellfire missiles on children in the middle east is bad, but like if we can get that $11 minimum wage it’s totally worth it.”

You are absolute scum.

PISCES:

DO’S

Pisceans are sensitive and charming. If you are looking for someone who is understanding and can understand your feelings then you have met the right person. You should appreciate their feelings too, as in your time of need they are sure to help you. Pisces have a keenly developed sixth sense and have great intuitive powers. Their hunches may usually be right on mark. But they can exhaust their physical and mental energies. They are born dreamers and you can build palaces with your dream lover (only in real life it may become a little difficult preposition).

DON’TS

Pisces are dreamers and you should not expect them to have worldly ambitions. They are not materialistic in nature. It is not that they like living below the poverty line but they have no earnest desire to accumulate wealth. They are very sensitive and you have to be always careful about their feelings. The fish are capable of drowning you in their tears but can also be detached and impersonal, which may seem strange to others.

TAURUS:

DO’S

Stability and dependability characterize Taurus. They like people who can blend and grow with them. If you have a Taurus partner you should appreciate all things bright and beautiful. They have an inherent artistic sense and are fond of color and music. Judge life with them from a purely materialistic point of view. Enjoy everything luxurious that money can provide. Enjoy good food (better if you can cook to please them) and good drinks with them.

DON’TS

Taurus do not lose their temper easily (in fact you may spend the whole life with them and still no spark) but you should not push your luck too much. Being unreasonable or aggressive with them may get you into trouble. Do not press them into a corner, and if you do, be prepared for a violent rage. Taurus is capable of violent outbursts though such an event is is very rare occasions. They can be suffocating when they are possessive about you.

A good book is the precious life-blood of a master spirit, embalmed and treasured up on purpose to a life beyond life.
– John Milton, Areopagitica (1644), via Oxford Essential Quotations

Today is World Book Day, a yearly event to celebrate prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and everything to do with books. Here at Oxford University Press, we love talking about books, so we asked a few of our colleagues in the Publicity department what they were reading.

Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion
I originally picked this book up as background reading for a trip that to California that I was planning for the spring. I’m not going on the trip after all, but this is just as good.
– Molly, Publicity Assistant

The Forsyte Saga by John Galsworthy
This book is a massive undertaking, covering the lives of the materialistic Forsyte family for three generations. The length alone might deter some readers, but there are many reasons to stick with it. One is Galsworthy’s incredible ability to elicit sympathy for even his most cruel characters. Second are the soap opera-esque plot lines of sex and scandal that somehow manage to turn themselves into deep and honest investigations of relationships between family members – be they father and son, brother and sister, or husband and wife.
– Lauren, Associate Publicist

Girl Before a Mirror by Liza Palmer
Now that I think about it this book is pretty appropriate during a month where we are celebrating the achievements of women. The main character works in marketing and is pinning all her bets on a new project – which forces her to let go of prejudices she didn’t even know she had. Very “rah ladies!” – illustrating the importance (and difficulty) of being your own advocate.
– Estelle, Associate Publicist

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Rear Window meets Gone Girl in this dark, psychological thriller. Your morning commute will never be the same – super suspenseful, entertaining read loaded with deeply haunting characters.”
– Kate, Associate Publicist

Napoleon’s Privates: 2,500 Years of History Unzipped by Tony Perrottet
It’s a fun look at history that talks about everything from the last meal served on the Titanic, to the dramatic suffering endured by famous artists and, as the title implies, different body parts of famous historical figures. A little bawdy but very informative.
– Michael, Publicity Assistant

Night Film by Marisha Pessl
This fall I was traveling to several cities over the course of a week and spending a lot of time in airports and on planes. While I was in Seattle at University Bookstore I wanted to find a fast-paced and book and came across Night Film. I remembered having heard great things about it and decided to give a try. Within a few pages I was hooked. It was perfect plane reading material.
– Tara, Senior Publicity Manager

Battle Cry of Freedom by James McPherson
A few months ago I found out my great great grandfather fought in the Civil War, and I picked up this book out of a casual interest to know more about the era. I don’t normally read 900 page histories of anything, and I thought I would maybe just skim through a few of the more exciting sections. I’m now 774 pages into one of the most engrossing books I’ve ever read. It might sound lame to recommend an OUP book here on the OUP Tumblr, but if you have any interest in the Civil War or American History or just a good book, every page of Battle Cry is excellent.

Why's B so materialistic? It makes it hard for me to respect her.

Yes, she must be the worst person on earth because she likes shopping and living in nice houses. She should just donate all her earnings to charity and live on the street. Maybe then she’ll gain respect from some random anon on Tumblr.

I hate anti theists who argue God isn’t Real and I’m like you’re damn right. God isn’t a Creation and thus cannot be measure or proven since he transcends all this crap and yet is immanently with us in Creation

Existential/Materialist arguments against God fundamentally miss the basis of Abrahamic theology.

Your Zodiac Sign: A Comprehensive List

Gemini: You’re sucking up all the oxygen in the room. You also lie all the time so I have no idea who you are or what you stand for. You’re pretty fun to be around though. When you’re not turning into your moody split personality.
Cancer: Stop crying. You’ll be fine. Yes, you have emotions. As do all 7 billion other human beings on this planet.

Virgo: There is a neurotic stick shoved exactly 356cm up your ass.
Libra: You’re either wishy washy and can’t make up your mind about anything, or you’re passive aggressive and shitty because you can’t tell people ‘no.’ Or you’re extremely vain. At least you’re fair tho.👍

Sagittarius: You’re a loud, cocky, hypocritical narcissist and you live in a world that revolves around you. Hey, did you hear? The whole solar system stopped revolving around the sun and suddenly began orbiting Jupiter. No it didn’t.
