The 2015 Margaret Mead Film Festival opens Thursday night and you’re invited!

The Festival kicks off with the film, Circus Without Borders, in the LeFrak Theater. The screening will be introduced by renowned anthropologist Bernard Saladin d’Anglure, father of the film’s protagonist Guillaume Saladin. The screening will be followed by a coversation with Bernard Saladin d’Anglure and the film’s director Susan Gray and producer Linda Matchan (Northern Light Productions).

Following the conversation, the festival Installation, Between Two Giants: An Installation by New York-based Mongolian artist Tuguldur Yondonjamts will be revealed in the Museum’s Grand Gallery. When Tuguldur encountered the Tyrannosaurus rex skull on display at the Museum, he thought that from behind the dinosaur skull looked like the movie monster King Kong. This revelation inspired a creative exploration of opposites: fact and fiction, the top and bottom of the world, and the front and back of a face.

A ticketed reception will follow in the Hall of Gems and Minerals.
