Characters peering through windows, cracks, and curtains in
The Fits (dir. Anna Rose Holmer, 2015)
Is this film the tale of a real mass psychogenic illness, a fable about girls learning socialization from each other who decide to copycat a peer’s epilepsy in order to re-absorb her difference, an allegory about the esoteric and deeply personal experience of puberty, or something else altogether? Regardless, The Fits reminded me of how much of the process of growing up seems to hinge on observing or overhearing communication not meant for you.
