cullen and nico have both been victims of Arcade. though the bulkiest, and the one who’s been a hero the longest, elvin would basically still be the youngest. I see abigail as a cynical laid back girl. amadeus would be the brain of it all of course. brandon would try and make everything about him. hope would finally learn to play well with others, she’d try to get bossy, but she’d probably bust heads with nico
plus we’d have lots of different backgrounds - avengers trainees (from different periods, initiative and academy), ex-runaways, essential sidekick, wannabe/has been hero, a mutant, a sorceress.
i kinda like the new codenames. Torment seems to fit the hell cullen he’s living every day while he fights to keep the monster inside him in check, Deus X, seems like a shortened nickname for Amadeus and it refers to his smarts, and ability to come up with clever solutions to any situation, and Cardinale, is actually the name of a small red bird. it is a small wink to the big fire bird that is the phoenix. and it also plays with the name of Bishop, the man who tried to kill Hope during her whole childhood. anywayyyyyz.
Captain Marvel, a $5 commission is I think done. I really like how this one turned out. Sometimes I know what I’m doing, and other times I get lucky, and I think this counts as both!
I had a hard time thinking up a cool pose for Carol, but ultimately I think this is pretty fitting. Rather than draw her posing tough or flying intensely, this sort of quiet moment at dawn…I just imagine after her coffee is ready, she shoots straight up into the clouds to enjoy the sunrise. I’m probably a dork, but I think someone who flies would have to love the sun on their skin in the morning.
Materials wise, this is a very limited palette: Alizarin Crimson, Yellow Sophie (I love this yellow), Payne’s Gray, and French Ultramarine. I used a little Cerulean blue for the sky just to make it a little dull as it comes up the sun, but most of the colors are the Crimson, Yellow, and Ultramarine. As usual, painted on Stillman and Birn paper, this time the smooth Zeta paper.
If the person who commissioned me found me on tumblr, I hope you like this! If not, I can make edits. Hope ya’ll like it!
“Supercooling is when the temperature of a liquid is lowered below freezing without it becoming a solid. In this state, the particles will crystallize if even a single “seed crystal” is available to activate the process. The Bergeron Process is when a mixed phase cloud, containing supercooled liquid and ice, undergoes rapid crystal growth in the centre while the water around quickly evaporates—this is what gives you that hole-punched-out-in-the-middle-of-the-sky effect.
Fallstreak holes are initiated by a drop in atmospheric pressure and temperature which introduces ice crystals into a cloud that has a combination of liquid and supercooled liquids. So, an aircraft flying through a cloud with these conditions can set off a domino effect and initiate this bizarre phenomena.”
Fallstreak holes are also known as hole punch clouds, skypunches, and canal clouds. They’re rare enough that they’re often reported as UFO sightings. Here are two more examples of fallstreak holes from crystallinks.com:
