Black Panther becomes Marvel’s third-highest viewed movie trailer in 24 hours.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/black-panther-teaser-trailer-racks-up-89m-views-first-24-hours-1012811

'Thor: Ragnarok' Trailer Is Marvel and Disney's Most Watched Ever in 24 Hours

People want their “Ragnarok”-n-roll.

Marvel’s promise of a Thor vs. Hulk battle seems to have re-energized the Thor movie franchise.

The trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, which was unleashed Monday by Disney, the parent company of Marvel, has garnered more than 136 million views in only 24 hours.

It becomes the not only the most viewed Marvel trailer ever, but also the studio’s most viewed trailer ever across all its brands, which includes Disney’s live-action and animation divisions, Pixar, Star Wars, as well as Marvel.

The Beauty and the Beast trailer was the previous 24-hour record-holder for Disney with 127.6 million views. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was viewed 112 million times in that time frame. Captain America: Civil War held the previous Marvel record with 94 million views.

The trailer was met with tremendous enthusiasm, with it channeling a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe with both music and sci-fi fantasy worlds as it set up a scenario where Thor, played by a returning Chris Hemsworth, is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer. It offered glimpses of Hela, the movie’s powerful new villain played by Cate Blanchett. And it closed with a killer line as Thor, forced to fight in a gladiatorial arena, sees his Avengers comrade Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and bellows, “He’s a friend from work.” It’s a line he quickly rues saying.

The Ragnarok trailer doesn’t hold the most viewed overall record. The trailer for New Line’s adaptation of Stephen King’s It was viewed 197 million times in the 24 hours after its March 29 release, while Fate of the Furious was eyeballed 139 million times.

Taika Waititi, the New Zealand filmmaker behind the acclaimed indies Hunt for the Wilderpeople and What We Do in the Shadows, is in the director’s seat for Ragnarok.

The movie will be released in the U.S. on Nov. 3.

I warned you.

Authors Note: So, I am not a fan of this but I wanted to post something. I know the Shawn pieces are not getting any notes, but I like writing them so I am probably going to continue this trial run until I officially make up my mind on whether to continue writing them. Enjoy! Xx

You had been awake for quite a while, in a non-creepy way watching as Shawn harmoniously sleeps beside you, his fingertips wrapped around the corner of his silk pillow, his hair messily falling around his face, his mouth occasionally twisting, allowing a few mumbled hums to escape, along with a few moans.

He tends to be a heavy sleeper after performing shows, there are times he sleeps through his alarm and you have to pry him away from his sleeping state. You know this morning is going to be one of those mornings; a morning where you have to shake him a few times before he’s alarm is set to blare through the hotel room, a morning where you’ll have to whisper sweet nothings into his ear until his eyes gradually open, in which he will mumble an ‘I love you’ before falling back asleep. He’s not hard —per say— to wake up, but he’s not exactly always waking up the moment you shake him. The concerts take everything out of him.

‘Black Panther’ Teaser Trailer Racks Up 89M Views in First 24 Hours (Exclusive)

This panther is looking sharp.
Judging by the numbers, viewers are ready to take a trip to the African nation of Wakanda.

The teaser trailer for Black Panther, Marvel Studios upcoming movie based on the character created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, generated 89 million views in the first 24 hours of its debut.

The spot debuted Friday during the first quarter of Game 4 of the NBA finals on ABC. It was then released on various social media platforms.

The numbers are welcome news for Marvel as it shows strong interest in the upcoming stand-alone film, which is a gutsier venture for the studio that has in many cases relied on the familiarity of its main cast of Avengers to float its stand-alone films. The movie features an unprecedented predominantly-black cast and no A-listers, and, his appearance in Captain America: Civil War notwithstanding, stars a character that is not largely known on the level of other superheroes.

Chadwick Boseman is playing TChalla, aka Black Panther, the king of the fictional African nation of Wakanda who must defend his people from threats internal and external. Ryan Coogler directed the movie that hits Feb.16, 2018.

The 89 million figure includes the 19 millions views from those watching the NBA finals.

While the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok trailer is Marvels, and parent company Disneys, most watched trailer ever (with 136 million views), Panther lands in the top 3 of most watched Marvel trailer content.

Panther surpasses the views for teasers for top Marvel and Disney-released movies such as Captain America: Civil War (61 million), Star Wars: The Force Awakens (55 million), and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (52 million).

Panther was also massive on Twitter, generating 349,000 mentions in 24 hours. It generated more mentions than the NBA game on which it debuted, second only to the launch of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi teaser.

MASTERLIST

The sound of glass breaking echoed through the halls and all around the empty mansion. A large man wearing a tactical vest and heavy boots stood by the door with his arms crossed and observing the scene in front of him.

“Do they know about her abilities?”

The large man nodded. “Most likely. She’s residing inside SHIELD’s Avenger hq. Extremely hard to break in and kidnap her.”

He watched as the owner of the mansion picked up another glass of scotch, gulped it in one go and flung it across the room, smashing it to pieces. The 5th one this morning.

“Avengers.” he snarled, grimacing as he spoke the name. He took off his white lab coat and wiped the blood of his hands on it. “They took everything I have. Everything I cared about.”

The scientist slumped on a chair and poured himself another drink, this time, keeping the glass unscathed. “They took my creation. And I’m going to get her back.”

Oh, we’re going there. While Marvel might view a “youthful” Spider-Man as more marketable across a multimedia platform today, fans from this era know better. Peter Parker was already firmly into his adulthood at the start of the decade (he graduated college in 1976!), and as Stan Lee discovered, a vocal segment of fandom wanted Peter married to longtime off-and-on girlfriend Mary Jane. Other readers hated the idea, but after the 1987 wedding, sales jumped on every title. The skepticism seemed to die out.

Rather than presenting the 1,000th iteration of illusion of change, Marvel took an actual risk and it paid off. A well-written MJ turned out to be as interesting a lead as Peter, fans discovered. Peter’s sense of responsibility, and the franchise’s legacy of strong supporting characters, fit perfectly with the concept of marriage. Read a story like “Kraven’s Last Hunt” and try to imagine it with a single, carefree Spider-Man. It’s just not the same story; the heart is gone. The marriage presented new story angles, while maintaining the unique themes of the series. That legacy has been squandered today, but readers can catch a glimpse of its potential in today’s “Renew Your Vows” series.
