PART ELEVEN: Tell your story (part one)

“It started with a girl,” John said.

“Just like the Trojan War,” Alex mumbled.

John looked at Alex and actually smiled, then shook his head, that beautiful smile still on his lips, as if to say I cannot believe you just said that, you wonderful nerd.

Or at least that’s what Alex hoped John meant by the smile and shake of his head.

“My dad liked her. A lot. I mean for me, not like, himself.” John shuddered. “She goes to my church and is in Teen Bible Study Sundays with me which, yes, is exactly as awful as it sounds.”

“So your dad is trying to choose your girlfriends?” Alex said, kind of shocked. He couldn’t imagine the Washingtons ever doing that to him or Laf. It would be so… invasive.

“Uh, not exactly. He probably wouldn’t care which girl I date.” John paused. “He just, uh, he just wants me to date a girl. Period.”

“Oh,” Alex said softly. Sometimes he forgot that not everyone was fortunate enough to have such supportive and accepting parents.

“Yeah. And, well, last week, we kind of… had a fight.” John sighed and shook his head. “He set me and her up on a date, and when I found out, I was really angry. I mean he didn’t even ask me!” John throw his hands in the air in frustration. “What if I’d had plans or something already?”

Alex nodded along empathetically.

“So I tried to play it off like wow, Dad, she’ll never like me now that you went ahead and set up our first date, like, who wants to date someone who doesn’t even ask the girl out himself? but he just shrugged it off, like, he went through her dad, so it wasn’t weird, but that kind of made it… I can’t even say that made it weirder because the whole thing was so weird.”

“It sounds really… awkward?” Alex offered.

“There is no word in the English language, or possibly any language, that properly describes that situation.”

Alex nodded in agreement, feeling unsure of what to say. This was a new feeling for him, not knowing what to say, and it seemed to happen exclusively around John. Alexander briefly wondered what that meant, though he didn’t have much time to ponder on it.

“So I should’ve just addressed the whole thing right then and there. I should’ve said ‘Listen, Dad. You know it and I know it, but since you’re gonna pretend you don’t know it, then how about I just say it. I’m gay as heck, Dad.”

Alex’s heart fluttered because even when John Laurens was angry he said things like heck and it was the most endearing thing that Alex had ever experienced.

“But I’m getting the sense you didn’t say anything there?”

John let out a slightly-pained sigh. “Ha, no.” He stopped walking and crossed his arms over his chest as if he were suddenly cold. “I really, well…” He took a deep breath and looked Alex in the eye. “I really fucked this one up.”

Alex got the sense John didn’t swear too much, maybe because he had so many younger siblings, or maybe because it was just who he was as a person, so when he used that word… Alex knew it must have been pretty serious.

“So Martha and I were supposed to, uh, go on our date,” John made air quotes and rolled his eyes, “the night of our weekly commercial shoot, like, right after it, basically.”

They had started walking again, and John was making a bunch of angry hand gestures, as if the air had personally offended him.

“And I was keeping it together until right after we’d finished the final take when my dad turned to me with a hecking grin on his face and said ‘Maybe soon your special lady friend can do a commercial with us, just for fun.’ But I knew what he was really saying was we’re gonna show the world you are Not Gay, John, even though we both know you are Hella Gay.”

“Damn,” Alex muttered.

“Yeah,” John said, voice flat. “And that’s when I lost it.”

“I would’ve too. I don’t think anyone could blame you for that,” Alexander said in what he prayed was a comforting and not condescending or annoying tone.

John offered him a small smile, and Alex sighed in relief, figuring he’d done something right. He hoped he kept doing things right because when John smiled at him… Well, he fell apart.

“I guess,” John said, and although he shrugged as if trying to keep the statement nonchalant, Alex could see the glimmer in his eyes that hadn’t been there before. “So you won’t judge me too hard for this next part?”

Alex smiled at John. “I think I’ll be disappointed if you don’t do something drastic in that moment.”

John smiled back at Alexander, and Alex’s heart fluttered. He knew in that moment that John had entirely stolen his affections, and there was nothing he could do–– or want to do–– to get them back.

Title: A Journey Through Time (8/8)
Rating: K+
Summary: —Sequel to A Place For Us To Dream— Reunited after years apart, the Doctor and Rose must struggle to re-find their footing with one another – and decide where they want to go next. ***Second in the Lost in the Stars series***
Characters: Tenth Doctor, Rose Tyler, Mickey Smith, Martha Jones, Donna Noble, Wilf Mott
Notes: And here we are starting over again. Welcome to the sequel for A Place For Us To Dream. This one will be much shorter – it’s just an in-between to get us into series 5 (like the series 4 specials). So, enjoy, and don’t forget that I really, really, really love reviews. They motivate me to keep updating.

NOTE: Okay, so. This is it. The very last chapter of the A Place For Us To Dream saga. Did you guys know it’s been a year sine that concept was first conceived? Probably not, but yeah. It’s been a whole year since this idea was first planted in my head. And now here we are.

Thank you, as always, to everyone who has taken the time to review/reblog my story and help spread it around. And a special thank you to @badwolfrun, easily the most eager reviewer in existence <3 You’re the best, MK, seriously. You’re the one whose kept this alive for so long, honestly. Love you :)

And for those of you have been reading and not reviewing – this is the last multi-chapter story I’ll ever publish. I know you’re anxious, and I know you don’t know what to say, but please, if you enjoyed this series at all, just try? I don’t require a multi-page thesis for a review or anything. If you can come up with just five words, it’ll make my day. I have anon on if you don’t want your name attached to it – anonymous reviews mean just as much to me as reviews with names attached. I don’t care. But it would mean a lot to me if you could try. Please?

And now, on with the show.

A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME: CHAPTER LIST

Rose’s eyes went wide as she watched the Doctor’s face morph through a myriad of emotions — and felt the corresponding emotions in her head.

Wilf was oblivious. “Well, I mean, that’s good, isn’t it? I mean, that’s your people.”

No. No, it wasn’t good. That much was obvious. Doctor, what

No answer. He grabbed Wilf’s revolver, taking off. Rose hurried after him, with Wilf right on her tail.

They ran onto the flight deck, where a signal was coming through in a very familiar rhythm. Rose tapped along to it without thinking.

“What’s that?” Addams asked, confused.

“Coming from Earth,” Rossiter reported. “It’s on every single wave length.”

Doctor, talk to me? Rose begged. What’s going on?

The Doctor flew into a frenzy, running around the flight deck. They can’t be allowed to come back. They can’t.

Yeah, I’m gathering that.

I don't know if you're still taking prompts but if you are could you write about Lois finding out she's pregnant or her during the pregnancy or her with the baby, maybe with other characters post bvs?

It should be one of the happiest day of her life. It should: even though she didn’t plan it, and she hadn’t necessarily wanted it - it really should.

It should, and it would have been, she thinks, if he was here with her.

But he’s not, and all Lois can do is clutch her knees to her chest and silently cry as she stares at the two pink bands in front of her, chest rising with sobs she can’t control.

He’s gone – Clark’s gone, and her entire life crumbled, and now she’s going to have to put it back together because soon, there’s going to be a new human being in it.

It occurs to Lois that she’s probably never hurt this bad before.

anonymous asked:

Why do you say you don't want Donna to return cos Moffat will ruin her? I sort of agree that he might, but he's already written her? He wrote Silence In The Library and Forest Of The Dead and they turned out well? I'm just curious why you think that?

I agree with you. Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead turned out well. The plot was wonderful and really intriguing, but the focus of the story was on someone else. A future companion of the Doctor.

He placed his focus on River Song and her relationship with the Doctor.

The Doctor lost River Song just as soon as he thinks he knows who she is to him. He watched her “die” before his very eyes and he couldn’t do anything to save her. Moffat spent most of the episodes having us guess River’s relationship with the Doctor and why she wouldn’t just tell him who she is to him.

That loss that the Doctor went through was painful and heartbreaking.

And most people left it at that. They remember the Doctor’s heartbreak and River Song’s end in that Forest of the Dead. Almost no one remembered Donna’s loss.

Moffat undermined Donna’s loss in this episode.

What loss? You ask.

In that other world, Donna fell in love with Lee. She married him and had two beautiful children with him. Of course, it all happened very quickly and it probably didn’t feel real for the viewers, but it was real for Donna.

This loving husband who adored her and two beautiful children they had together was all she ever wanted in her real life. That’s why she wanted to marry Lance. She wanted a chance to start her own family.

All that was ripped away from her in an instant and she had to brush it off as a figment of her imagination while she was saved in that computer. She didn’t get a chance to grief for her family or lament that she could have had it all. She even had to comfort the Doctor.

All the focus was on the Doctor and River Song.

So, while I agree that these two episodes had a riveting plot, I maintain that Moffat is not great with Donna. I don’t want to say it’s because Donna’s not his character but it feels that way to me. His characters always seem to have a special or almost supernatural background to them while Rose, Martha, and Donna (who are created by RTD) are regular humans, like you and I.

So maybe Donna’s too human/normal for him.

Or maybe he just prefers to work with his characters instead of playing around with someone else’s. Whatever it is, I don’t believe Donna will be done justice in his hands.

Before I leave you, please be reminded that the above are simply my own thoughts and opinions of Moffat. It’s completely fine if you don’t agree.

Thanks for asking and I hope that answers your question.

Rose was doing well.

Really well. Honestly the Doctor was surprised by how well she was doing sometimes. It was natural for him to wonder how much of it was her hiding her feelings from him – she had obviously become good at that. But it worried him. How much was she bottling up?

Rose, for her part, thought she was holding it together fairly well all things considered. She was holding it together, at least, which was probably more than the Doctor had expected. Donna was still with her family, leaving her and the Doctor alone on the TARDIS. She’d be lying if she said she wasn’t looking forward to her friend’s return. She needed a buffer.

They were eating supper now, making small talk. Rose was telling the Doctor about Martha – skillfully avoiding any mention of the Master, she couldn’t stand the thought of having that conversation quite yet – but her sentences were punctuated with small yawns. It had been a long few days and she was exhausted.

But she didn’t want to go to sleep yet.

“Ha!”

Rose and the Doctor laughed as they burst through the door, narrowly avoiding being hit by an arrow. Rose was giggling too hard to be of any use, so the Doctor went to send them back into orbit on his own.

“So what do I call your other wife?” She teased. “Think she’d mind if I just called her Lizzie?”

The Doctor laughed, going back to her and pressing a kiss to her lips. “I’m filing for divorce. Only need one wife thank you very much.”

“But this explains so much. I met Queen Elizabeth, ya know. With Martha, we met Shakespeare and there were witches…well, it’s a long story. But we met her and she called me the Doctor’s floozy.”

“You met Shakespeare?” Of course that would be the part he latched onto. “And witches? There’s no such thing as—”

“Okay they weren’t quite witches—”

Come

They both froze as the word echoed in their minds. “Did you…?”

The Doctor nodded, lips pursed. He had heard too. Good. Rose thought she was going crazy.

“Should we?”

“Probably.”

The honeymoon was over, then. Well it had been a good five years.

Donna yawned as she made her way into the kitchen. She was a bit surprised to see the Doctor there, already making breakfast. It was taking time to get used to having a third person around — and a bloke no less.

At least this time she had remembered to actually get dressed instead of wearing her horribly thin nightgown that didn’t cover a damn thing. Thank god Rose had been there to cover up that bit of awkwardness.

The blonde was absent at that particular moment, however. “Rose still sleeping?” Donna asked as she went to make her tea.

“Nah, just in the shower. She’ll be out in a few.”

Donna nodded, making her tea in silence. She took a sip before venturing, “She really loves you, you know.”

“I’d gathered,” the Doctor said neutrally without looking up from the pancakes. Another sip of tea before Donna continued.

“I don’t remember much from that uh…that universe. You know the one you found me in. But I know she was dead.” The Doctor just nodded, a bit stiffly. “I think it was because she’d given up. Because she’d lost you and her family and she didn’t see a point anymore.”

“She died because you weren’t there to save her.”

Donna was rather impatient. Three weeks. It had been three weeks since Rose and the Doctor had left, and despite the firm promises that she was still more than welcome to travel on the TARDIS, she really was worried they wouldn’t come back.

Donna was standing outside with her grandfather, bouncing impatiently. “They’ll be back, sweetheart,” Wilf assured her, putting a hand on her shoulder to try and still her. “They wouldn’t just leave you.”

“Yeah, yeah…”

She was also rather worried about Rose, if she was honest with herself. The last time they’d seen each other the blonde had been nearly paper-white and clearly in pain – no doubt a result of everything the TARDIS had done in her head. Donna hoped she’d actually taken a chance to recover – she knew how Rose just loved to run straight from one thing to the next. Hopefully the Doctor made her take a break.

Then again it didn’t take a genius to figure out where Rose had gotten that habit from.

At Taylor’s House

TAYLOR POV

Tonight I was hanging out with my girls. We didn’t get to hang out as a big group much since people lived all over the world and work commitments always meant we were never in the same place at the same time. So, when a group of us did, by some amazing twist of fate, end up in the same city for 24 hours, we would spend as much time together as possible.

Today we were having a lazy girls day at my house. There were 9 of us today: Ellie, Ella, Selena, Karlie, Lily, Gigi, Martha, Jaime, and me. Everyone was looking forward to a day of relaxation. We never felt the need to do anything special when we were all together, just chat about everything and anything, eat food, and have fun.

We had just made homemade facemasks and we were sitting watching a corny romcom movie when Ellie’s phone started ringing. She rolled her eyes and ignored it, until it started ringing again.

“It’s John.” She said, her forehead crinkling. John Newman was a frequent collaborator with Ellie and Adam, and had gone on tour with Ellie recently. Currently he was in LA as well recording with Adam. “Do you guys mind if I take this?”
