Grammys secret ballot: Three insiders reveal which stars got their vote

Best Rap Album

The Contenders:

  • The New Classic, Iggy Azalea
  • Because the Internet, Childish Gambino
  • Nobody’s Smiling, Common
  • The Marshall Mathers LP2, Eminem
  • Oxymoron, Schoolboy Q
  • Blacc Hollywood, Wiz Khalifa

The Artist: I’ve heard some of the Childish Gambino, and I liked it. ButSchoolboy Q seemed like the most fun and the stupidest and the most partying of all the ones in the category. I always go with the people who are willing to party and have fun. I think the Grammys need that.

The Producer: I’m going to be controversial here and say Iggy Azalea. Look, I’ve spent a lot of time in Australia, and Australian white people are way whiter than American white people. They put extra mayonnaise on everything. So there’s something interesting about this girl from Australia dominating the hip-hop world.

The Songwriter: Skip! [Laughs]

So a Grammy voter voted for Iggy Azalea’s The New Classic not because her album was great but because she’s white, what did I tell y'all. They’re going to give her the best rap album because she’s white not because her album was good.

I’m here

That was the last text I received from him. It was July 13th, a Sunday night in 2014. The love of my life had texted me a few hours after we had gotten off work. It was gonna be the night when I would finally confess my feelings and tell this boy I had been pining over for two years; that I loved him.

I was 19 at the time. Shy, inexperienced with men, and full of anxiety. I was never really verbal,. I didn’t really think any guy cared about my feelings, except for Danny. He was shy too, but God, he was funny. He made everybody in the kitchen Crack up on a daily basis. He shared so much knowledge with me over the years. For someone a year younger than me, he was just so fucking wise. He had a boy band smile and was covered in tattoos. His voice made me stop and listen and his stare had me freeze in my tracks. It was the only love at first sight I will probably ever experience in this lifetime.

We hooked up a few times in the few years we had known each other. He was the sweetest, most passionate lover I’ve ever had. I was too chicken shit to really speak to him about my infatuation with him; i thought a couple times about asking if he seriously wanted to date, but backed out after convincing myself I would scare him away. I could barely look him in the eyes sometimes because my mind would just go blank… do you remember having a love like that? Being near him made my cells hum.

He came over on that Sunday after asking me if I was home. We had sex, for hours, smoked cigarettes on the couch, took a shower,(the Marshall Mathers Lp2 was on repeat on my speaker) and watched the 70’s show episode where Eric pukes on Red’s shoes. He left some vodka on my coffee table and said he had to go. I kissed him goodnight, and he told me “A beautiful woman like you should have a beautiful night.”

8 days later, he committed suicide.

I found out at work while I had tables still at the end of the night. He no call no showed two days in a row. I tried not to worry up until then, but I knew something was horribly wrong before I had even clocked in.

My manager found me out back by the dumpster sobbing and had to pick me up off the ground.

I think about it all the time. Sometimes, It all comes rushing back at once.

I never was the same after that. I can only hope now that he is at peace and that he is proud. I see him in my dreams every now and then, and I just know that he knew how I felt the whole time.

Skinny love is a bitch.

“The Monster” by Eminem & Rihanna won Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and The Marshall Mathers LP2 won Best Rap Album at The Grammys tonight, which makes our artist Jon Bellion a Grammy winning songwriter!

Congratulations to Em, Rih, and all involved with MMLP2, but most of all, congrats to Jon!! Who knows what’s in store for VMG at the 2016 Grammys.

2015 Grammy nominations are finally up, and Paramore snagged a nomination for Best Rock Song with their single “Ain’t it Fun.” Ed Sheeran's got a nod for Best Pop Vocal Album. Beyoncé is stealing the show, though, with nominations for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best Music Film, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song. Bey now holds the record for most Grammy nominations, beating out Dolly Parton, but, let’s face it, no one’s surprised. Beyoncé is queen. Find a full list of nominees below.

anonymous asked:

What is your opinion about the "guts over fear" lyrics. Do you Think Em retiring?

Opinion on lyrics: They’re emotional. They made me emotional. I cried like a little bitch to be quite honest with you guys.

Thoughts on Em retiring: He’s going to retire. He can’t keep rapping forever. The question should be: When do you think Em is going to retire? And the answer to that question is unknown. There have been rumours that he’s going to retire every 6 months for the past 5ish years. Take for example when the Marshall Mathers LP2 came out. The retirement rumours were EVERYWHERE. Fast forward a year, and he’s coming out with a new album with 2 CD’s, and doing all this touring/tweeting/updating/social media stuff (which is great to see)!

So maybe he’ll retire at the end of the year. Maybe he’ll retire 5, 10, hell, even 20 years from now. We just don’t know, and we shouldn’t focus on that. Just enjoy the time now, and embrace every new and fresh rhyme he spits. With that being said, even if he ‘retires’, he’ll most definitely be producing and doing guest features on tracks. Like he said, this is what he loves to do.

TLDR; He’s going to retire. Don’t know when. Don’t know why. Embrace and love him now, and don’t think about a future without the Rap God rhyming.
