Woooo another Sheith week :D Too bad it wasn’t during my winter break instead. Getting married in space prob isn’t a dream for these two, but it’s a dream for me since this prob won’t show up in the actual series cries
A random Valentine’s day AU for y'all! Warning: sugar. Diabetics should proceed with caution.
Shiro owns a small flower shop. Valentine’s day coming up so he has to hire an assistant for a few weeks to help carry the load. That’s where our dearest lance comes into the picture.
Lance is a struggling college student (yet again lmao), and he sees an ad for a job paying 15$ an hour where all you need is to know how to make bouquets and flower crowns properly. Lance sees an opportunity, calls up his little sister, and spends 3 hours learning how to make flower crowns to get the job.
The next day he walks into the flower shop like waddap I got a big cock- uhh I mean flower. I mean I know how to flower. I meAN I’M HERE FOR THE JOB HI MY NAME IS LANCE (listen, Shiro in an apron, sleeves rolled up, the entire place smells like flowers. You would shit your pants as well)
Shiro tests him and wow, the kid is a little clumsy but he knows his shit and his colors pallets! Hella aesthetic!
Consider Shiro impressed.
Consider Lance hired.
Consider them both crushing.
They click immediately, with Lance’s constant babbling and Shiro’s vast general knowledge. Lance snarks about rude consumers after they leave, and Shiro always shakes his head, amused, because he already knows better than to let them get to him in any way.
They flirt, obviously. Lance keeps bringing up how they’re each other’s Valentine date seeing as they’re going to be spending it all together, working. Shiro chuckles and tells him it’s not a proper date, and it’s sad he’s been treated so poorly he thinks it qualifies as a date.
Lance almost suggests Shiro should show him what a real date looks like.
Shiro almost asks him out on a date.
But they don’t, because it’s still too soon. They’re still very unsure of the other’s feelings, even though Shiro keeps catching Lance glancing his way, and Lance definitely notices the way Shiro finds the smallest excuses to sling an arm around his shoulder, grab his wrist, bump their hips when they work side by side.
They feel it, but they don’t know for sure, and so they pine, and wait, and pine some more.
Valentine’s day!! Exhausted, Hands full of tiny thorn stabs, smelling like flowers and sweat, our boys finish the day. As of the next day, Shiro won’t need an assistant anymore. This would be the end. As they clean up and organize things for tomorrow, these facts hang in the air like a suffocating blanket of truth. They’re quiet, not because there is nothing to say, but because they both WANT to say something, they want to say a lot of things, but they can’t. The feeling grows heavier and heavier, they both work slower and slower, dragging out the moment they have to go home.
But no matter how much they stall, eventually the work is done. Nothing to do but close the door and go home. They stand, hesitating, outside the door, shuffling their feet and gathering their courage. Then suddenly, together they speak:
“Do you want to maybe go to a-”
They both shut up and chuckle, gesturing the other to go on.
Lance is staring at Shiro’s dimples as he speaks, because he’s too embarrassed to meet his eyes. “I… uh… Well,” he scratches behind his head, “I thought maybe you’d like to do something? This weekend? Like a movie or-”
“A date?” Shiro injects, eyebrows raised.
“I- well- uh… Yeah?”
“Then yes.” Shiro smiles wider and Lance is momentarily blinded but he really doesn’t mind because HOLY FUCK Shiro just agreed to go on a date with him WHAT WOULD HE EVEN WEAR- His thoughts get cut off by Shiro asking, “Where are we going?”
To which Lance has to admit, “I have no idea, I didn’t really think I’d get this far. I wasn’t planning on you saying yes.”
Shiro frowns. “You value yourself way too little. But it’s okay, we can work on that. And by then, I’ll show you a real date, how does that sound?”
And honestly, no sound has been sweeter to Lance’s ear than those words. Well, except maybe the “I do” Shiro says at their wedding a few years later.
I thought that it mattered what I said or where I said it. Then I realized the only thing that matters is that you, that you make me happier than I ever thought I could be and if you let me I will spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way. Monica, will you marry me? Yes.
Woke up on Christmas morning to the best surprise! Breakfast in bed with a ring on the side 💍The blueberries on the French toast said “will you marry me?” – Easiest “yes” I’ve ever said! I’M GONNA BE A SWIFT!
“Ugh, please say something.” Yuuri groaned loudly against his hands, the same shaky and sweaty ones covering his flushed face as he waited for a reaction from the younger boy standing right front of him, inspecting the piece of jewelry carefully as he was asked to do, reading the “Stand by me” inscription over and over with his lower lip between his teeth.
you two idiots have my blessing.” Yurio sighed heavily, shifting his weight into his other foot, making a blonde strand of hair slip from his messy bun and fall against his face. The simple thought of how much the younger boy started to look like Victor at his age being more than enough to warm both Victor and Yuuri’s heart. “Don’t forget to send the invitation.” He said matter of factly, clicling his tongue as he closed the small black box and handed it back to Yuuri, already on his way towards the door when the man finally snapped back into reality.
“Wait! Is that it?” Yuuri raised his voice, hurt.
“What else you want me to say?” The blonde turned around to rest his body against the door frame, bored expression written al over his features.
“I don’t know!” Yuuri panted violently, immediately sitting at the edge of his bed when he started to feel like the room was spinning, hands shaking and tears filling his eyes as his voice broke. “A congratulation, an advice… anything.”
If he was being honest it sounded more like a cry for help than a request.
Noticing the change on the man’s emotional state, Yurio decided to proceed by walking slowly towards the bed and take a seat next to him, the little box being the only thing separating them.
“If you’re asking for love advice to a teenager you’re more desperated than what I thought you were.” He tried tentatively, nudging him with his elbow playfully, watching attentively for a reaction from Yuuri.
But nothing came.
“Hey… you oka-”
“What if I’m making a mistake?”
The man bursted suddenly, face agry red and fists white in the sheets, making the teenager jump back with a hand over his heart and his hair bun fall wildly over his shoulders.
“What if its too soon?
What if he changed his mind?
What if he doesn’t feel the same after all? What if-?”
“Now listen here, pork cutlet bowl!” This time was Yurio’s turn to yell, standing in front of the older boy as he tried to hold back his sobs, right hand clutching the box like a lifeline. “Opposite to what your disturbingly large amount of posters hidden in this very room may suggest, I have known Victor for a longer time than you have,” The blonde boy chuckled smugly when Yuuri’s face turned even redder at his words, “and let me tell you I have never seen that old man so happy in my whole life.” He smiled wholeheartedly as every memory of Victor since the very first day they met came to him in flashbacks, like a movie. Every laugh, every tear, every fall.
“Not even in the ice.” Yurio mumbled under his breath without even realizing he actually said it out loud, the small gasp leaving Yuuri’s now bitten raw lips being the ony thing making him aware of it.
“I don’t know shit about your story together, okay? Don’t care either, so don’t bother. You gonna have kids who actually care one day.” He actually barked a laugh at the mix of confusion yet fondness in the older boy’s face as he looked down, taking his glasses off to wipe his eyes and looking up again to meet the blonde’s green eyes, smiling weakly as if to encouraging him to keep talking. “But the way you talk to each other, the way you look at each other, the way you just breathe around each other for fuck’s sake. I don’t know how to put it into words, you know?.”
He knew neither of the older men liked when he swore but drastic situations required drastic measures.
“Yuuri, if what you and Victor have isn’t love… I don’t think I want it.” Yurio walked slowly to take place next to the older boy once again, not daring to meet his eyes. “Are you making a mistake? Course you’re not, idiot.”
Silence filled the room once again.
“Um, I think its your turn to say something.” The blonde laughed nervously scratching the back of his neck, lazily braiding the ends of his hair as he waited for an answer.
“You called me by my name.” Came amusedly from beside him, making him snap his head up as realization hit him, the older boy already looking at him with a smug but still somehow sweet smile, a thank you shining behind his glassy brown eyes.
“Yeah?” The teen between the two said, looking away when he felt his own green ones starting to water. “Well, don’t get used to it, pig.”
