Ivory Coast Market: Goods for Sale

Colorful vegetable seller in Abidjan, open market, Ivory Coast.

Photo Exhibition in Brasilia, Brazil
November 5-20, 2008. Featuring six international photographers. Overall exhibit: THE HEART OF AFRICA. Thirty images from Steve Evans in a sub-show called: AFRICA HEART, AFRICA SOUL. Sponsored by Cara e Cultura Negra.

Africa Heart, Africa Soul

A Photographic Exhibition by Steve Evans

“When shooting, there are certain qualities that immediately capture my attention,” Steve said. “It often has to do with the face and the eyes and what they might be saying – ‘I have wisdom,’ or ‘I know sorrow,’ or ‘I have dignity,’ or ‘I survived,’ or ‘I’m in love.’ I look for dignity and pride in a person. I look for pain and sorrow, melancholy and loneliness. I look for wisdom reflected in the wrinkles of age. I look for the innocence of youth, for the bond of strong relationships between a mother and a child, a father and a son, two friends, a man and a woman. These reflect the heart and soul of a person. In addition, there are particular circumstances of nature – like a sunrise or sunset – that reflect the very heart and soul of God.” Each image of “Africa Heart, Africa Soul” is a window into the very heart and soul of Africa, featuring photographs from the slave forts of West Africa to the majestic sunrises and sunsets of southern and central Africa. Six countries are documented: Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Ivory Coast, and the images span over twenty-five years of photographing Africa.

The Farmer’s Market was alive with that sights and sounds of Spring. While it was only the beginning of March, the warm front had settled in bringing with it a steady amount of sunshine and 70 degrees. Beautiful weather paired with the spring mating season brought out the unmated in drones, those of a similar mindset descended upon the Lebanon Farmer’s Market.

Ok you asked for it~ It's a given that the Katsukis (plus Minako and the Nishigoris) wholeheartedly adopt Viktor well before they get married. But Hasetsu itself also adopts him in its own way. He gets recognized a lot, but not because of the Living Legend thing. "You're Yuu-kun's boy aren't ya?" one of the market vendors asks when Viktor ends up running an errand for the inn on his own. It’s like he’s the entire town’s resident-in-law via Yuuri, though he’s slowly making his own place too [1/?]

AWWWWWW “Yuu-kun’s boy” oh my god and Victor loves it so much every time he hears that he just smiles really big and nods brightly and is so happy to talk about Yuuri to anyone that will listen.

YESYESYESYES He’ll lay in bed with Yuuri and tell him about all the gossip he’d heard that day and Yuuri will lean his head on his shoulder and politely correct him when he says something wrong. Victor gets better and better and starts using it more often and with more confidence and it makes Yuuri really, really happy to see and ALDJFASDFLASKDFASDF.

!!!!!!!!! Victor looking through Yuuri’s baby photos! He asks if he can save one and Hiroko says okay so he keeps a photo of Yuuri climbing a tree because he thinks it’s adorable. Yuuri blushes really hard when he finds out and says “I almost fell off of that tree you know” and Victor just says “I’m glad you didn’t.” ALSO YUURI SETTING A TREE ON FIRE LMAO

VICTOR BECOMES BESTIES WITH SOME OF THE KIDS AROUND TOWN. He’ll play soccer (football) with them and some of the kids start to look up to him. Eventually he gives skating lessons on the side and other kids want in so he ends up with dozens and dozens of unexpected students who he’ll teach once a week. They help him with his Japanese and lovingly tease him. Yuuri once makes a joke that Victor is “like a second father to them” and Victor just stares at him, seriously, and says, “I’d like to be a father one day.”

lmao iconic

Victor and Yuuri stargazing and falling asleep together……. I just……. I need a minute……. Hiroko finds them in the morning and puts a blanket over both of them, then starts making breakfast. Yuuri wakes up first, but Victor is on top of him. He glances around and sees his mother–he blushes, but she smiles approvingly.

I LOVE IT you should write a 5+1 fic or something!! All of these ideas are so cute! And I hope you had a great night as well <3

At the farmers market, lots of vendors trim veggies on the spot before selling, and have tons of carrot tops, beet leaves, ugly lettuce, and other greens destined for the dump. But not when I’m around! I’ve started bringing home bags of these free greens most weeks for the chickens. I only ask from the organic vendors I buy from, so the girls are eating organic too. The chickens weren’t so excited when I just tossed this stuff on the ground, so I started tying it up and hanging it from the coop. Complete game changer! Now they have to work for it! They even like to jump at it while it’s still in my hands. The girls do like their greens.

Street Vendors - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Street vending is an essential part of life in Ho Chi Ming City. Vendors operate from either a shop or stall on the side of the street, or from portable carts or bikes. They can sell anything, with fruit, flowers, hot meals, and domestic products all commonly sold.

Never Sleeping Again: Part 1

*A TRC AU (Also on AO3)

Ronan Lynch was in a terrible mood. The hot summer sun was burning his fair skin, leaving his nose, cheekbones, neck, and shoulders tender and pink. And he was sweating, his standard black muscle tee clinging to his torso as he followed Matthew through the crowds at the Saturday farmer’s market. The vendors all knew Matthew by name and they called out to him, asking him to try samples of jam, fudge, and baked goods. They did not call out to Ronan, which suited him just fine. He was only here at Matthew’s request. He had been woken up at an ungodly hour to find Matthew perched on the end of his bed, begging him to go to the market.

“Why don’t you ask Declan?” Ronan grumbled as he pulled his pillow over his face.

Ronan,” Matthew whined, “you have to come!”

“No,” Ronan said.

“But there’s um, something special there. Something you’ll like.”

This was enough to get Ronan to toss his pillow on the floor and give Matthew an appraising look.

“Something I’d like, huh? I really can’t imagine what that would be,” Ronan said. Matthew had a playful but shifty look on his face, like he was trying to not give away the punch line to a good joke. “Okay, fine, whatever,” Ronan growled as he got out of bed and pulled on some clothes. “Just don’t make waking me up this early a regular thing.”
