To read the headlines coming out of the media about the act of terrorism in Minnesota, you would think that the IED levitated itself into the mosque.

It was thrown.

It was an act of terrorism.

The victims being Muslim doesn’t negate that fact.

And, statistically, the terrorist responsible will turn out to be a white, Christian, American citizen.

It isn’t really compensation, but fortunately, the Governor has called it out as what it is: An act of terrorism.

Stringed Disco
Kevin MacLeod

I wasn’t able to draw at the time the Pacific Rim sequel was announced, so to compensate, I animated all the drift compatibles dancing horribly in celebration of the upcOMING ANIMATED SERIES 8V

EDIT: Just to be safe with tumblr’s mp3 big brother bots, I’ve CHANGED THE AUDIO to something Royalty Free. It WAS “Stadium Rave” by Mark Governor, so I’d recommend just finding that clip to play along, but I’m changing the ‘officially posted’ mp3 to “stringed disco’ by Incompetech

Governor Mark Dayton and Lt. Governor Tina Flint Smith have declared May 23rd BEYONCÉ DAY! in Minnesota. Today marks the one year anniversary of this proclamation.

The official proclamation notes that “Beyoncé’s impact and success has been widely recognized” and that she “has influenced many young girls and women with powerful, positive messages in her songs,” which is a nice way of saying what the Beyhive has always known from the start: Beyoncé is the queen.

Virginia remains blue 💙

Gotta continue voting these republiCANTS out of office! So proud of my state today, and excited to have Ralph Northam as our governor, as well as Justin Fairfax for lieutenant governor and Mark Herring (again!) for attorney general. State and local elections really matter y'all.

San Francisco Victorian Mansions, circa 1880s.

Top to bottom: Mrs. Mark Hopkins’, Charles Crocker’s, Governor Leland Stanford’s, and James Clair Flood’s residences.

Of note, three of the owners were among the four principal investors who formed the Central Pacific Railroad (James Clair Flood, Leland Stanford, Charles Crocker, & Collis Huntington) in 1861. They were considered to be robber barons by some and amassed tremendous wealth by routinely bribing politicians and borrowing money they could not pay back - while publishing mendacious financial reports.

To insure friendly coverage, they bankrolled local newspapers and arranged to kill or delay the publication of stories that might damage their interests. At the helm of a dangerous industry where workplace accidents were common, they resisted installing air brakes and other devices that would have sharply reduced maiming and death.

Leland Stanford also bankrolled the construction of Stanford University.

James Montgomery Flagg, appointed “official artist” in New York State by Governor Whitman., 1917.

Item From: Records of the War Department General and Special Staffs. (1789-09/18/1947)

This is a picture of the artist James Montgomery Flagg and his most famous recruitment poster. The poster depicts Uncle Sam pointing at the viewer with the caption: “I Want YOU for U.S. Army.” It was inspired by a British recruitment poster that had Lord Kitchener in a similar pose. Flagg modeled Uncle Sam’s face from his own, only adding age and a white goatee.

Last-minute talks bid to halt first Bank of England strike in 50 years
Talks at Acas aim to avert three-day strike by Bank maintenance, security and hospitality staff angry at ‘derisory’ 1% pay rise
By Simon Goodley

The Bank of England will hold last-ditch talks with the UK’s largest trade union on Monday as the central bank attempts to avert its first strike in 50 years.

The stoppage has been called over a below-inflation pay offer to the Bank’s maintenance, security and hospitality staff, and was originally due to begin on Monday. However, the action has been delayed for a day to allow late talks via the conciliation service, Acas, and is now scheduled to last between Tuesday and Thursday if talks fail.

Protesters are planning to gather outside the Bank’s headquarters in Threadneedle Street, in the heart of the City of London, on Tuesday wearing masks of Governor Mark Carney and holding placards and flags stating: “Bank of England staff want fair pay.”
