Soviet submarines and their namesakes:

Project 971 Shchuka-B - Pike - NATO: Akula

Project 667BDRM Delfin - Dolphin - NATO: Delta IV

Project 667AU Nalim - Burbot - NATO: Yankee

Project 941 Akula - Shark - NATO: Typhoon

Project 865 Piranha - NATO: Losos

Pike is a nuclear attack submarine, Dolphin, Burbot and Shark are nuclear ballistic missile submarines, and Piranha is a diesel-electric midget submarine.

The curious parallel between both Akulas apparently was entirely coincidental, and ever since has been a source of confusion among both submarine enthusiasts and experts.

Overall I like the original names more, but I gotta say, the Delta IV is the only one where I’d rather stick with the NATO name.

Sydney, Australia: Trade unionists and solidarity activists rally for Bolivarian Venezuela on eve of Constituent Assembly vote, July 29, 2017.

“Trade unionists from the Maritime Union of Australia and the Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union took part in a Sydney Town Hall square rally in solidarity with Venezuela’s Bolivarian revolution on the ever of the Constituent Assembly elections in that country. The elections are being violently disrupted by right-wing opposition groups supported by the US Trump administration. US President Donald Trump has threatened “strong and swift economic actions” if the election goes ahead.”
