I was too young, didn't he know? Didn't he taste it in the salt of my pacific lips and hear it in the curl of my quiet tongue and see it in the quiver of my bruised up knees? I was too young and too fragile for the head-pounding heartbreak he had in store. I fell fast and broke faster, he had me in the palm of his ink stained hand. He had me and he left me and he smiled as he did. Even still, I'd take those last few seconds before his lips mouthed goodbye over this, just to stand by his side.
