  • Edler 2011: Edler's responsibilities now that he's back extend beyond his actual play. Last season, when the defenseman asked to have a bigger role on the team, he was given the task of letting the players know when it was time to go on the ice prior to games.
  • "He's got that still and he takes a lot of pride in it," fellow defenseman Kevin Bieksa said, grinning. "He's like ‘let's go… let's go boys' in his little voice. I think for right now, that's enough responsibility. He's like a first-round draft pick, you don't want to rush him along too quickly or it could hurt him, right? He gets this and he feels comfortable with it right now. Maybe next year we can mix in a secret handshake or something like that."
  • Edler 2015: Several years ago, Bieksa revealed that players had given Edler the chore of watching the clock before the game and announcing in the dressing room when it was time to go on the ice. And Edler would do this by saying something snappy like: “OK, guys, it’s time to go on the ice.”
  • “Well, not in so many words,” Bieksa says. “He doesn’t need other jobs because he’s so good at that one.”
Case Study ~ December 2016 ~ Zigzag (Complete <3)

Well guys, here we are.  This part could probably use a little more revision, but I need to sleep now before work, so…

It has been such an honor to share this journey with all of you.  I can’t believe that this story actually came together this quickly, but it’s truly been a blessing, so… enjoy the epilogue!  Notes on the story, possibly additional drabbles (feel free to prompt, although I can’t 100% guarantee!) and the AO3 version will all most likely happen in near future :-)

Side Note: I told many of you that Blaine has intellectual disability.  That is what it’s called today, but when Blaine was diagnosed we were operating under a different diagnostic manual, and this story reflects that accordingly by using the multi-axial system and the term “mental retardation”.

Warning: These stories all revolve around an AU world where Kurt and Blaine both have serious mental health disorders and end up rooming together at a boarding school geared towards special education.  I work in mental health, so I’m familiar with this stuff and will try to be as accurate as possible, but please keep in mind that this is a work of fiction.  There will be some angsty parts and some happy parts and many parts that are in-between, and I don’t have a definitive plan in mind other than a happy ending.

Also, Kurt and Blaine are in the same grade here, both juniors at the start of the story.

December 2016 ~ Zigzag

Date:09/10/2009

Psychosocial Assessment Summary:

Kurt Hummel is a 16-year old boy who presents to Dalton roughly six months following the death of his father and only remaining biological parent.  He comes here voluntarily and with the blessing of his step-family, Carole and Finn Hudson, who appear sincerely supportive.

Kurt stared at his image in the mirror, straightening his tie, fiddling with the cuff links on his tux.  He found it strange that he didn’t feel nervous—at least not about the commitment he was about to make.  Lingering in the back of his mind was a great deal of anxiety about the ceremony and the music and the reception going smoothly, exactly as planned, but Kurt was doing his best to ignore it.  Those things weren’t what today was about, after all.

Today was about them: about Kurt and Blaine and everything they had somehow, miraculously built together.

TW timeline and Stiles' age

Since there seem to be a lot of confusion about Stiles’ age and how the timeline is messed up because of it, I’ll try and break it down for you.

Season 1: Started in January 2011 and ended in mid February (because of the newspaper article at the end about Kate Argent’s involvement with the Hale fire, the date on that is February 19 2011). Stiles is a sophomore and because he’s driving at this time he’s 16

Season 2: Began a few days after the s1 finale (Victoria Argent states in the s1 finale that “they’ll be here in 2 days”, meaning Gerard and his lil band of hunters is coming to town for the funeral and the funeral was in 2.01). Lydia’s birthday in 2.09 is during the Worm Moon, which is always in March. Most likely ended in late March or early April 2011. Stiles is still 16.

Season 3a: Starts 4ish months after the end of s2, at the end of summer vacation/the start of Junior year (Scott is said to have been in Summer school because of his grades). Cora and Boyd were in the vault for 4 full moons after the full moon in March, so from April to August. Started in August and since there was a full moon in 3.03 and one in 3.12 it’s safe to say only one month transpired between those episodes. Ended in September 2011. Stiles is a junior and in 3.02 at Heather’s party Stiles says he hasn’t turned 17 yet so still 16.

Season 3b: Started few weeks after the end of 3a, most likely in early to mid October 2011. We know it in 3.16 it was Halloween so that puts us at the end of October. In 3.19 Derek refers to Stiles as a “17-year old possessed by a psychotic fox”. So some time between August and November he turned 17. Ends in mid to late November 2011. Stiles is 17.

Season 4: Starts approximately 2 months after the end of 3b, so roughly at mid January 2012. We know Lydia’s birthday is in March and in 4.08 it’s stated that it’s only a few weeks until her birthday so that puts us in late February to early March 2012. Ends in March 2012. Stiles is a Junior and 17.

Season 5a: Starts right before Senior year, so August/September 2012. Stiles is a senior and since there hasn’t been a mention of him turning 18 yet I’ll say he’s still 17 but will turn 18 in late 5a or some time in 5b.

So Stiles will turn 18 during the fall of 2012, which means he was born in 1994. We know Claudia died in 2004, which would make him 10 at the time of her death. The Sheriff does state in 3.11 (which was in September 2011) that his wife died 8 years ago, which would mean 2003 but he could’ve rounded it up if it was 7 going on 8 years ago. And that could mean Stiles was 9 at the time of Claudia’s death, but was about to turn 10 and the Sheriff was just rounding his age up to 10.

In conclusion: The age given to Stiles in that repressed memory is accurate, or at least very close to being accurate.

I hope this made cleared up any confusion about Stiles’ age and the timeline for the show.

May 2012 ~ Wedding

Kurt smoothed the lapels of his suit, took a deep breath, and walked through the doorway.  The little bell jingled, assuring that the pretty, middle-aged woman standing behind the counter took notice of him right away.  “Hello,” she said, offering him a smile.  “Welcome to the Cheesecake Boutique.  Is there something I can help you with?”

He straightened his posture, reached down deep for his confidence, and said—“Yes, actually.  My name is Kurt Hummel, and I’m here to convince you to hire me.”

Case Study ~ June 2012 ~ Year

So here it is a little late, friends - technically the last chapter of this fic, as tomorrow (aka Day 24 because I’m a day behind) will be more of an epilogue… and also a prequel, in a sense.

I hope everyone is having the merriest of holidays! <3

Graduation day was definitely the best day of Blaine’s life… except for maybe the day that Kurt had agreed to date him, or the day when Kurt had first said I love you, or that day when Kurt…

Okay, maybe it’s wasn’t the best.  But it was one of his very favorite days all the same.

Sorry for the delay again!  Next section should be out sometime in the next 12 hours or so.  Please note that I edited the part for March a bit - nothing that changes the plot, but I thought I’d mention it.  I just wasn’t happy with the original ending.

Blaine sat awkwardly, silently, tapping his toe against the foot of his chair.

“I can’t make you talk to me,” Ms. Genna said, for probably the fourth or fifth time.  “But something went wrong here, and it would be good for us to work it out, Blaine.  I know it’s been a long time since we saw each other last, but I had hoped things would look a little better when I was finally able to return to work.”

March 2012 ~ Uniform

They were fifteen minutes early—exactly as planned—when Kurt pulled into the parking lot and killed the engine.  Blaine was asleep in the passenger’s seat, looking heart-breakingly adorable as usual, and Kurt was almost grateful when he began to stir because he couldn’t bear the thought of waking him.

He reached over to tuck a stray curl back into place, fingers brushing softly against Blaine’s forehead.  “Did you have a nice nap?” he asked.

Blaine yawned, stretching his arms up until they banged against the roof of the car.  “Yes,” he answered, finally blinking his bright hazel eyes in Kurt’s direction.  “Where are we?  Are you gonna tell me now?”

Kurt smiled.  “We’re in Westerville,” he said.
