I recommend a 2008 Serbian film “The Tour” by Goran Marković. It’s about a Belgrade theater troupe traveling across war zones during the War in Bosnia.
I haven’t seen that but it sounds good, thanks for the tip! As @ghost-of-algren said there’s not enough cinema on this subject, I’d imagine because the politics involved in filming and getting funding would be a nightmare. My favourites from the region would be Srđan Dragojević’s Pretty Village, Pretty Flame from Serbia, 1996, and Milcho Manchevski’s Before the Rain from Macedonia, 1994
