TRIVIA

  • The episode’s Japanese title has a bit of word play in it, specifically the ”Mamoru o mamore” part. “Mamoru” (守る) means “to protect,” and “mamore” (守れ) is the plain imperative form of “mamoru.” Chiba’s first name is spelled with a single kanji (衛), whose kunyomi (Japanese reading of a Chinese character) is “mamoru.”
  • Rei Hino was the Dead Moon’s target in this episode. Much like during the Death Busters arc, Rei was the first member of the Sailor Senshi to be attacked by the enemy.
  • Luna and Artemis were absent, but Diana was present.
  • Mizugeiko’s kabuki makeup disappeared as she was defeated by Sailor Moon’s Moon Gorgeous Meditation.

LASTS

  • This was Shinya Hasegawa’s last episode as an animation director.
  • Yuuichirou and Rei’s grandfather both made their final appearances in this episode.
