“I don’t know much about my family. They’ve been gone for a while.”
Feeling a tug at your heart, you felt badly for bringing it up. “I’m sorry.”
He put on a brave smile, meeting your eyes. “It happens. Thanks again. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“Good night,” you replied, offering a smile in return. You watched his figure retreat into the dark and then closed the door behind you. It was only after he was gone that you realized tomorrow was Sunday and his day off. Would he actually show up and refuse a day free from work again? You couldn’t allow that. There were labor laws, after all. And yet…part of you hoped to see him sooner than Monday. Knowing him only a few weeks, the man was still a mystery, but each clue given had you aching for more.
The morning sun rose crisp and clear on Sunday, your ears tuned to any outdoor noises. Unexpected disappointment creeped into your mind to find silence. You had become accustomed to the early sounds of James sawing, hammering, or tossing bales of hay onto the ground outside the stables this early. You weren’t really surprised, given that it was Sunday, but the promised words of “See you in the morning” echoed in your mind from last night.
Shaking off this odd feeling, you climbed out of bed and pulled on a cozy sweater before descending the stairs toward the kitchen. Soon you had pancakes on the griddle and all the other breakfast fixin’s on the table. The delicious smells roused the rest of the house, soon hearing your mother’s shuffling feet along with the frantic scamper of your energetic boy approaching.
I’d really like it if Rhodey were to use the phone that Steve sent Tony to call him. Steve is surprised when the phone rings and his heart almost leaps out of his chest because he thinks that Tony is the one who’s called.
But it’s Rhodey on the other line and he’s got a lot to say.
“No, this is James and frankly, you don’t even have the right to say his name.”
Tony leans against the booth, hand propped atop his chin. He stares out at the people passing by, and wishes he never met Janet Van Dyne.
Earlier in the week, Tony told her that he needed some extra cash, since Howard cut him off for being “unagreeable,” and Jan told him that she had the perfect job for him at the oncoming carnival. Tony agreed, and found himself standing behind a “Kissing Booth.”
Now, Tony has no problem kissing men or women, but he’d rather not kiss any random person that walks up, who might have bad breath, or, God forbid, mono.
He looks over to Jan, now forever labeled in his heart as a traitor, and curls his lip in disgust.
James Sie once again takes over another role for Jackie Chan; this time as Master Monkey in Secrets of the Scroll and Legends of Awesomeness. James had also voiced Viper’s father, Great Master Viper in Secrets of the Furious Five and Secrets of the Scroll. Prior to that, James had voiced Jackie’s animated persona for Jackie Chan Adventures as well as the Fire Demon Sorcerer, Shendu, and Chow, a member of The Enforcers.
Lucy Liu voiced the sleek, deadly, yet sweet and compassionate serpent, Master Viper in all of the KFP movies and Secrets of the Scroll; reprising her role for the LoA series. Liu had previously guest starred in Jackie Chan Adventures playing as one future version of Jackie’s niece, Jade Chan.
James Hong is known amongst KFP fans as the voice of noodle shop owner and Po’s adoptive father, Mr. Ping. I know him best as the voice of Daolon Wong, a powerful, evil wizard and Dark Chi Master whose goal is to become even more powerful and spread evil, either by use of his own magic or with the twelve talismans of Shendu or other magical artifacts he gets his hands on.
Amy Hill had voiced the stern, feisty, and overprotective mother of Tohru as well as Su, the former leader of the Ladies of the Shade, a traveling group of thieves.
