This blog started out as a Yuri!!! on Ice trash blog, but somewhere along the way, my love for figure skating was rekindled. My blog now doubles as a figure skating… trash blog, lol! Yeah, I have no life.
Anyway! Jumps - wonderful to watch, confusing af to recognize. If this is your usual sentiment, then you have come to the right place! Let Yuuri and Viktor show you the different jumps done by figure skaters, as well as tips on how to recognize them.
Jumps are actually fairly easy to recognize once you know what to look for. The first thing to look for is how skaters propel themselves off the ice. Was there a toe pick assist - meaning did the other foot’s toe pick help the skater push off the ice? Or was the skater propelled solely by their knees? The former is called a toe jump, because the toe pick was used to lift off the ice. The latter is called an edge jump, because the skater jumped off directly from an edge of their skating blade. This is most recognizable through a deeper bend in the knees, because without a toe pick assist, the strength of the jump comes solely from the knees.
HOLD UP… EDGES???
Right, so we also need to understand edges first. If you search for close ups of skating blades viewed from the back, you will find that there is something like a hollow on the bottom of the blade so that there are two edges. If you were to stand with your feet just slightly apart, the inside edges would be the edges in line with your inner thighs (and calves, whatever). Conversely, the outside edges would be the edges that are facing the outside world.
Now, the great thing is all jumps are landed at the back outside edge. Which foot depends on the skater. Yuuri and Viktor both seem to favor landing on their right foot. Most skaters have a preferred landing foot, but to help you visualize, a skater who prefers landing on his right foot, for example, would always land tilted slightly to the right, because he is landing on his right outside edge.
So if it is not the landing that differentiates the jumps, what does? Yep, you got it - the entry.
Now that we have the basics down, time for the fun part: the different kinds of jumps!
Loop: Entered at the back outside edge of the same foot. You land exactly where you started, hence the “loop”. Example of a loop is the first gif, which is a loop done by Yuuri. The knee bend is not very clear, but see how his right foot is tilted to the right and slightly back? Clear back outside edge, landed also on his right foot.
Salchow: Yuuri’s bane of a jump is entered at the back inside edge of the opposite foot. The fun thing about the Salchow is that apart from the usual clues (knee bend and tilt of the foot), the nature of the landing is such that the entry leg sweeps into a wide arch once the skater lands on the opposite leg. Example is the second gif, done by Yuuri. See how Yuuri bends his knees? That is an obvious edge jump. See how his left foot tilts slightly inwards (inside edge take-off) before jumping off? Another interesting thing about this gif is Yuuri’s entry on the Salchow – it looked like he jumped from both feet. Two-footed Salchows are right or wrong depending on who you ask, but the idea is that the skater should still be taking off from the correct foot and the correct edge when entering the Salchow.
Axel: Yuuri’s favorite is also a common favorite among fans because it is easily recognizable AND it is the jump type with the highest points. The Axel is the only jump entered facing forward. Because of this entry, however, to land on the back outside edge (where all jumps land), you have to make an extra half rotation. That means a triple Axel is actually an Axel with three-and-a-half rotations, and this is also why it is given the most points. Also because of this, a quad Axel is the only remaining possible quad jump that has not yet been landed. (Can you imagine having to do four-and-a-half rotations?) Example, of course, is our boy Yuuri nailing that triple Axel in the third gif.
Toe Loop: Arguably the easiest jump, it is basically a loop with a toe pick assist. With the extra assist, it is usually the first quad landed by most male skaters, and in the show, this is the only quad Phichit can land. The fourth gif is a triple toe loop done by Viktor. See the way his left toe pick helps him off the ice? See how cleanly he takes off (slight outside tilt of his right foot) and lands on the same foot (same outside tilt)?
Flip: Viktor’s signature quad, the flip jump is entered by the back inside edge of the opposite foot. Enter on the inside edge of one foot, land at the outside edge of the other foot - hence, you flip. You can also think of it as a Salchow with a toe pick assist. The fifth gif is a triple flip done by Viktor. I chose his triple flip because the animation is clearer here. See how his right leg swings for that toe pick assist? His left entry foot is tilted slightly inwards to jump from his inside edge, and he then lands on his usual right landing foot (tilted slightly outwards to the back outside edge). (Bonus: The quad flip in particular is interesting to watch out for because for some reason, the skaters do a full turn before the jump, which is not as obviously done when skaters do a triple flip instead. It makes the quad version look dramatic, at least especially in the show when Yuuri and Viktor do it with that solemn look on their faces and all, but it’s also fun to watch when real-life figure skaters like Shoma Uno - who was the first to land the quad flip - also does that full turn before jumping. Somebody explain this to me, though. What physics is at work there? Idk.)
Lutz: Chris’ signature jump and my personal favorite is the Lutz, which is entered on the back outside edge of the opposite foot. The interesting thing about the Lutz is that because it is entered from the outside edge of the opposite foot, it is counter-rotated - that means the skater goes one direction then spins the opposite direction. It is a high difficulty jump and so gets the second highest base score after the Axel. The last gif shown here is a Lutz done together by Yuuri and Viktor, and I slowed the gif down a bit to better show the characteristics of the jump. Viktor actually gives the more consistently clear example of Lutzes in the show, but see how Yuuri enters the jump on the first few frames? That is typical Lutz entry, where the skater’s entry foot crosses over to the opposite side to give it that tilt it needs so they jump from the back outside edge. See how Viktor’s left foot is slightly tilted so you see underneath his skate? He is tilted slightly to the left, but he then jumps counter-clockwise, even if with that tilt, his natural spin would have been clockwise. He then lands on his right foot on the outside edge.
And there you have it! The six types of figure skating jumps. I hope that was helpful to those who are interested in learning to recognize these awesome jumps. The more figure skating fans, the merrier, I say!
(Any questions on these jumps? Leave me a message and talk skating to me. I would love to answer your questions! ♡)
I’ve wanted to talk for So Long about the portrayal of anxiety in YOI but I’ve been having so much trouble putting together what I want to say in the most effective manner. I kept trying to come at this in a more analytical fashion, but considering that this is such a personally important topic to me, I’m going to try a more emotional approach. Something I don’t normally do.
So really, to start off, I wanna say that I’m so damn thankful for the way Yuuri is written. Really, seriously. I don’t think I’ve ever had the ability to relate more to character; Yuuri is close to a mirror of my own experiences with anxiety and it’s so fantastic to have a model of development and growth for me and people like me. I found the portrayal to be frighteningly accurate, from types of thoughts, behaviors, mannerisms…
I think the episode that stood out to me the most in terms of Yuuri’s anxiety was ep7, aka Yuuri’s on-screen panic attack episode.
The first thing I noticed was this:
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found myself in that exact position. I bounce my legs when I panic, just like Yuuri is doing here. Head in his hands, breathing heavily, bouncing and jostling limbs. This isn’t the Mary-Sue cutesy portrayal of anxiety–this is a real anxiety disorder. It’s not pretty. It’s not easy. It can’t be fixed with a single word or a touch or a person. Quite frankly, it’s ugly and you lose control of your body.
me,an intellectual: Phichit Chulanont is a Thai skater and the first Thai and South East Asian male skater to qualify for the Grand Prix Finals. He is also the first Thai/South East Asian to have ever landed a quad. It’s been stated multiple times that he has rewritten Asian history. He is also the first Thai to skate to songs from The King and the Skater, which features a Thai actor. Throughout the series it’s been shown that he is an incredibly hardworking and determined skater; he’s a well rounded, well written brown South East Asian who defies many stereotypes. It’s a big step considering Japan’s colorism and anti South East Asian racism. Phichit Chulanont is so important to Thailand, to South East Asians, and to brown Asians. Reducing him to an SNS obsessed “Captain of the Viktuuri Ship” is so incredibly harmful and disrespectful to him as a character and the people he’s representing.
Just some Viktor Analysis for you kids, because you know I love it:
Figure skating, in general, is a Much Bigger Deal in the YOIverse than it is in real life. To the point where Viktor gets name recognition from people who don’t know anything at all about figure skating. I say this because I’ve been interested in figure skating my whole life, unlike I think a lot of the fandom (I could absolutely be wrong here, but that’s my estimate of the situation) and I learned very early on that Nobody Knew Jack About Figure Skating. Like I can name a total of TWO figure skaters off the top of my head who generally get name recognition–Kristi Yamaguchi and Michelle Kwan–when I talk about them to people who aren’t in the know. And even Kwan is a bit iffy. I can’t think of a single male figure skater whose name I could say in casual conversation and have someone say, “I totally know who that is.” I think this might be because the general population thinks figure skating is mostly just women, and also because figure skating really just isn’t on most people’s radar. This could be different in other countries, but even then I don’t think Viktor would have his International Celebrity status irl.
On the other hand, Viktor could just be one of those category-defying athletes who gain international attention because they are literally Just So Fucking Good at what they do. Think Michael Phelps or David Beckham. Nobody, in general, cares about swimming, but they sure do care about Michael Phelps. Everybody knows who David Beckham is, even in America, a country that doesn’t even have a real fanbase for the sport he plays. It’s entirely possible that at some point, someone realized that Viktor Nikiforov was Winning Everything and everyone got super curious over whether he would continue to do that–much like Phelps.
Also, Viktor is a very handsome European man, which probably helped a lot.
Either way, Viktor is an unusual celebrity who probably came up in the world very, very fast. As in, all attention was just on him suddenly one day. This probably happened somewhere around the 2010 Olympics, if you assume that Viktor probably hadn’t reached his full potential by his first Olympics, which was probably Turin 2006. I’m pretty sure Viktor Nikiforov stepped off the podium in Vancouver, suddenly a Russian household name and an international figure at an age where most people haven’t yet moved out of their parents’ house.
By the events of the anime, Viktor has been central in the public eye for over half a decade. He’s been TMZ’d and had a paparazzo follow him home, he’s done ads for sports drinks and athletic wear and shoes and cologne, he’s been put on diets–not Athlete Diets; Celebrity Diets; ‘eat four saltine crackers and a glass of coconut juice for two meals a day’ diets (Yakov put a stop to this quickly)–he’s had a publicist scream bloody murder at him over the phone because he did something stupid outside a club in Ibiza. One of my favorite ‘why Viktor cut his hair’ headcanons is that he had to cut it off because people kept pulling it in crowds, or trying to cut off pieces when he walked by.
These are not the typical experiences of a career athlete.
Viktor is a Celebrity Athlete, probably figure skating’s only celebrity athlete. There are probably a lot of people in the sport who don’t really even consider him an athlete, but at the same time he isn’t a movie star or a pop star, not One Of Us among the red carpet elite. Also, figure skating is unusual because it is an intersection of sport and performance. People get confused about where someone like Viktor lies on the athlete versus celebrity scale because he’s beautiful, he dresses up in costumes and performs to music. This isn’t football, or hockey or even track or swimming. Nobody is sure what Viktor Nikiforov is. He’s a creature unto himself.
His experiences are so drastically different from the experiences of everyone he knows that he literally has no one to relate to.
It creates distance. It makes him untouchable.
And Viktor? Viktor is so fucking starved for genuine human contact and connection by the time he meets Yuuri that he’s willing to take himself halfway across the planet to get it.
With all of this known, can you imagine how powerful it was for Viktor to hear Yuuri say, “I just want you to be yourself, that’s all I need”?
It’s probably reason number one (of roughly ten thousand) for why Viktor fell in love with Yuuri.
I’ve been toying with the idea for a long time that some of the things Yuuri says, especially in the first couple episodes, are not exactly the truth and should be looked into farther. Honestly, we knew Yuuri was unreliable the moment the show opened–he referred to himself as “dime-a-dozen,” when he is literally the only male skater certified by the JSF within canonverse.
And he made it to the GPF, you know? He’s one of the top 6 skaters in the world, right off the bat! It took us a few episodes to understand Yuuri’s character to realize the context of these statements, but we figured out pretty early on that Yuuri is the embodiment of Unreliable Narrator™. Especially after ep10, jfc.
Anyway, why I’m bringing this up is because Kubo seemed to confirm a little theory of mine I’ve had stewing for a while and I wanted to share it with you.
So. Episode 1. The commemorative photo scene.
I wanna first establish that this scene took place before the banquet. During the series run, sometime just afterwards, and occasionally even now there’s debate over when that scene took place. It wouldn’t make sense to happen after the banquet because they’re not only still wearing the team jackets, but they’re also wearing passes
The outside sign has information about the competition
and Victor is talking to Yuri about his routines
which he probably wouldn’t do if it was up to a day later.
We know how the rest of the scene goes. Victor seems to not recognize Yuuri at all, mistakes him for a fan, asks if he wants a photo, and then Yuuri leaves, thoroughly humiliated. Or, at least, that’s Yuuri’s version of what happened. I think generally everything that was said got said, all the movements and series of events were the same, but the implications of the offer were different.
I have multiple anxiety disorders. When I remember something that I felt was a misstep or caused embarrassment, I always remember it slightly off. A person’s tone is more mocking or condescending, my reaction is worse than it was. There’s a lot of shame when it comes to anxiety and your mind immediately assumes you’re viewed to be–and are–on a lower pedestal than everyone else. Yuuri, clearly, has severe anxiety, so I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to think that, since this is from his perspective, maybe reality is a bit different than what he is able to give us.
Anyway, my thoughts had no basis, so I’ve kept them to myself, but then Kubo came out and said this:
and then the fanbase lit up in flames because Victor know Yuuri was a fan before the banquet. But this also implies one thing I got super excited about: Victor has seen him skate, before the commemorative photo scene.
meaning that everyone’s preconception that Victor mistook Yuuri for a fan has been completely blown out of the water.
So, why would Victor ask him about a photo then?
I think it’s important to keep in mind that Victor likes to make people feel good about their abilities. He likes teaching others, and he likes motivating them too. He gets pleasure out of seeing people rise to their potential.
Although he’s flighty and kind of an airhead, and tends to ignore what he doesn’t find interesting, I don’t think Victor would ignore the scorings or the competitors landing below 3rd place. Victor clearly knew that Yuuri fell to last place, hard. This is just speculation, but maybe Yuri mentioned to Victor the incident with Yuuri crying in the bathroom. Or, perhaps Victor had already seen the press about Yuuri: he’s notorious for losing his nerve during competitions and failing to meet his potential. When Yuuri goes down, he tends to crash and burn.
(also honda’s words imply yuuri usually performs very well)
Victor likes making people happy and better versions of themselves. Now he’s faced with the competitor who fell to last place, staring at him a few feet away. A competitor who is known for his anxiety and tendency to shy away from others. A competitor who just so happens to be a fan. So, what is Victor to do to help Yuuri feel better, or even open up a bit?
Initiate conversation. Try to reel him in to interacting with an open, non-threatening question and a tried-and-true welcoming smile.
Victor didn’t mistake Yuuri for a non-competing fan, he knew who Yuuri was and was just trying his best to make Yuuri feel better. Victor, as we’ve seen throughout the series, resorts to giving comfort through action rather than words first and foremost. Unfortunately for him, this is not what Yuuri needs.
It backfired. But I think Victor had good intentions. They were strangers so it’s not like Victor could just walk up and start a motivating speech. He tried to invite Yuuri to talk to him, someone Yuuri looked up to, and maybe they could talk and Victor could brighten his day?
Victor wasn’t very tactile, and Yuuri didn’t stand his ground and identify himself, so they got nowhere with that.
I’m so glad Kubo said this. This face looks like a combination of surprise and disappointment, perhaps not only in Yuuri rejecting him but also in himself for not being able to help.
and this face
looks more concerned and surprised that Yuuri showed rather than like “oh shit, he’s a competitor.”
Poor Yuuri. Poor Victor. They really need to communicate better.
Ok so, I’ve spent all the easter festivities reading fanfiction, especially Yuri On Ice’s!
( ´ ♡ ` )
So I thought “What about giving credits to these AMAZING works of art and write a little recommendation post on tumblr?”
Because of the enormous amount of ff I decided to divide them in categories: the first part will be about
So if you doesn’t feel comfortable about mpreg, and AOB dynamics pass this post! And always read the warnings before the ff
(ι´Д｀)ﾉ! Some of them will analyse sensitive theme that can offend or triggers someone!
Yuuri, under the username of Eros, is a size queen omega who most certainly does not have an obsession with fellow camboy and legendary silver-haired alpha Aria. Just like Phichit is not the most meddlesome roommate known to man.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
OK THIS FF IS AMAZING, I didn’t know I needed a CamBoy + AOB ff until I read it!
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
There is a lot of Smut, really! But even a lot of feelings and cute dorks, they really are obscene and cute at the same time. Totally recommended!
The war is over. Katsuki Yuuri just wants to go home and forget about it all. But his heroics brought him the unwanted attention of the Emperor of his nation. As a thanks for his bravery, he is gifted an Omega barbarian. He tries to be positive about it, but the present ends up being a poisoned gift indeed. Is keeping Viktor worth the trouble?
I LOVE IT. Really, this mixed a Royalty/war Au with the Omegaverse dynamics without be boring and repetitive!
This was a mistake. Viktor needed to somehow pry Yuuri off of him and leave the room immediately. Viktor was drunk, and Yuuri was so far beyond gone that there wasn’t even a word for it. But the alpha in Viktor was having an incredibly difficult time resisting the pungent scent of cherry blossoms and ocean that filled his nose. Viktor snapped.
They had been reckless.
Totally recommended! It’s full of Drama and cuteness at the same time!
Yuuri forgets that he has a scheduled heat coming up until it’s just a couple weeks away. He scrambles to get everything ready in time, including deciding whether he’ll spend it alone or with someone. Victor only wants to help.
Ok this fanfiction doesn’t need to be recommended because EVERYONE knows it. And actually it’s one of my favourite at all!!
Yuri Katsuki doesn’t advertise his alpha status, in fact he’d rather it be relatively unknown. He feels that he’s never fit the stereotype, and is much happier blending into the background. However, much to his dismay, his alpha instincts are awakened one summer morning.
At first he’s angry, believing that his new coach, Victor Nikiforov, has brought back an omega in heat for a day of passion. But when he intrudes to order the couple to a safer location he learns the truth. Victor, the most decorated male figure skater ever, has his own secret. From there an inexplicable gravity grows between them, their shared secrets pulling them together in ways that both learn to cherish.
Well this fanfiction is very particular and emotional! I’m really enjoying it.
Baranovskaya’s new face, Yuri Plisetsky (22), who shot in Venice for Vogue’s last edition, was seen accompanied by Otabek Altin (25) as they left a coffeeshop in St Petersburg yesterday. The DJ and voted 2017’s hottest musician, Altin was in the city to compose for Victor Nikiforov’s (30) new movie production. The couple met at the Paris Fashion Week after-party(image) and have been appointed to be secretly dating ever since. An intimate friend claims Altin to be completely besotted with the Russian beauty, having even gifted him a $35,000 diamond collar necklace!
Katsuki Yuuri has been training alongside Victor in St. Petersburg for a while. He has been so careful for no one to know that he’s an omega. But while skating one day, Victor notices something different. What’s that smell coming from Yuuri’s neck? Without realizing it, he finds a scent suppressant patch on Yuuri’s neck and curiosity wins the better of him. He tugs and is hit directly with that smell of cardamom and honeysuckle.
Victor’s never experienced a such a rut before. And all he knows is that he only wants Yuuri. Not because he’s an omega, but because Yuuri is…. well, is Yuuri. And the Russian refuses to hurt him. To the point where he will bite and hurt himself in the place of marking the other unwillingly. But of course the younger skater is unaware to Victor’s affections.
Unaware to the desperate need and love of Victor Nikiforov.
If you like how dynamics works, this is the fanfiction for you!!!
For now that’s all!
I really enjoyed reading these ff and I want to share them with you all. These fanfictions update really fast and are really amazing!
Let me know if you have read them yet or if you’re going to enjoy them!
A couple lounging together on a hotel bed, their faces out of frame. Two pairs of sweatpants-clad legs tangled together - feet bruised and battered, the focal point of the image.
v-nikiforov: When you and bae have matching feet 💖💖💖 #movienight #cuddles #figureskaters #FukuokaGPF
The internet explodes.
At 25, Viktor Nikiforov is already a notorious commitment-phobe.
Though his list of casual hookups and one-night stands is a mile long, the man has yet to have a serious romantic relationship.
(One that has been made known to the public, at least. There is, of course, no shortage of “anonymous sources” claiming to have visited him at his house in the countryside where he supposedly lives during the off-season with his secret wife and three kids.)
Not even two hours after the picture is first posted, his fans have already compiled a list of who this mysterious significant other could be, using the only thing they know (probably) for sure about them - that they’re a figure skater.
Christophe Giacometti, for some odd reason, is pretty high up on the list, despite the fact that he’s been in a committed relationship for the past two years now. Cao Bin is another notable name, along with TWO of Viktor’s own rinkmates, Georgi Popovich (something which he’s sure is going earn the two of them a good amount of light-hearted teasing from their rinkmates), and a girl named Evgenia that Viktor has known since they were 5, and whom he regards as nothing more than a good friend.
And somewhere near the middle of the list is Viktor’s longtime bitter rival, Katsuki Yuuri.
It’s something of a mystery that he had even made it onto the list, given that the vast majority of the world seems to be of the opinion that the two hate each other. But fans as a whole tend to have a strange fascination with enemies to lovers stories, and it doesn’t hurt that Yuuri is good-looking, talented, and just about the sweetest person ever (to anyone other than Viktor, that is)
By the time the next picture is posted, just over a month later, people have mostly given up hope on another.
A dining table laden with delicious, home-cooked food. A slender young man sits in a chair across the table from the camera person. The top half of his face is cut off, showing only an indulgent smile as he spoils the excitable brown poodle begging for scraps next to him.
v-nikiforov: When bae flies halfway across the world to surprise you with a home-cooked meal after you get back from Russian Nationals 😍 #luckiest manalive #loveofmylife #bestsurpriseever
This time, it doesn’t even take an hour for the fans to update their List. All the female skaters are removed, while a few more male skaters are added on.
The man has a soft jawline and slender shoulders.
A few suggest that it may be Lee Seung Gil, while others shout that “he’s just 19!,” and how “that’s basically pedophilia!”
Katsuki Yuuri inches his way slowly up the list, while others demand that Christophe be taken off, given the man in the second picture is clean-shaven, and everyone knows Christophe wouldn’t be caught dead in public without some stubble.
There aren’t many more pictures of The Boyfriend after that.
Instead, there’s an endless flow of melodramatic selfies and black and white landscapes with captions that don’t make sense, of Viktor constantly complaining about not being able to see bae more often.
He does occasionally drop little tidbits - The Boyfriend has a dog as well, he does ballet, they’ve known each other for several years.
But he’s careful not to say anything too revealing about his significant other, playfully dodging the question whenever he’s asked about it in interviews and choosing his words carefully on his social media posts.
It’s a maddeningly long five months before Viktor finally makes the fatal mistake.
An excited brown poodle standing near a door, leash in his own mouth. His tail is a wagging blur, restless excitement seeming to roll off his image in waves.
v-nikiforov: Going to pick up bae from the airport. I think Makkachin’s somehow figured out where we’re going. He’s been waiting impatiently at the front door for the past hour. #offseasonisbestseason #beentoolong #reunion
Viktor turns off his phone after that, and so it isn’t until he arrives at the airport, only to be welcomed by a horde of screaming fans and reporters that he finally realizes the mistake he’s made.
All the blood drains from his face, and he quickly whips out his phone to send his boyfriend a warning message before he’s suddenly swamped.
His plane should have already landed by now, and Viktor prays that he’d sent the warning in time. He knows how much his lover values his privacy, and neither of them are very eager to have their relationship become public knowledge quite yet.
Viktor spends the next ten minutes trying to make his way through the overenthusiastic crowd while still trying to be as nice to his fans as possible.
Makkachin is having the time of his life, shamelessly begging ear scratches and cooing from the crowd of fangirls. He looks quite content to stay there for as long as possible.
That is, right up until he quite suddenly perks up, and barges right through the crowd, leaving behind a bunch of confused fans and a worried Viktor, trying to chase after him.
He doesn’t get very far though, before tackling someone with wet doggy kisses.
The man seems to expect the enthusiastic welcome, because he barely staggers as he catches the giant brown poodle in his arms, laughing and carrying him towards Viktor and his group of speechless fans.
He’s wearing a pair of sinfully tight skinny jeans, and a dark blue hoodie with the hood up. They can’t see his face properly yet, with Makkachin blocking their view as he continues to squirm in the mans’ embrace, tail thumping excitedly against his leg as he walks.
Before any of the fans can take a step, Viktor hurries to his lover’s side and immediately wraps an arm around his shoulders, using his body to hide the man’s identity.
“What are you doing here?” he asks urgently as the crowd surges forward to envelop them. “You could have snuck out another way and gone straight to the car!”
The man laughs, and turns to place a quick peck on Viktor’s cheek.
“It’s fine,” he says. “We’ve kept quiet long enough. I don’t mind letting everyone know about us.”
So saying, he lowers Makkachin gently to the ground, and the cameras finally get their first glimpse at the face of the man who had managed to steal the heart of the World’s Number 1 Bachelor.
hi!!! I just wanted to ask if you know any fanfic where Yuuri or Viktor are doctors?? btw I LOVE your blog!
Hi! Thank you for this request! I LOVE this AU! Let me know if I missed any!
oxytocin and serotonin by half_n_half, Not Rated, 10k (WIP) Yuuri loves being a surgeon. He understands that the hours are long and the immense responsibility that comes with holding a human heart in your hands is nearly crippling, but something makes it all worth it. Little did he know, the years put into medical school would wield something greater than adrenalin. Victor Nikiforov. WOW! Amazing so far!
Stretch by cosmonaut_field, Teen, 19k (WIP) Competitive figure skater Viktor Nikiforov injures himself on vacation right after winning another gold medal and is in need of a physical therapist. Enter the quiet Dr. Katsuki. Great fic!
Butt Stuffby Plumpie, Explicit, 9.7k (WIP) AU in which top Japanese male figure skater Katsuki Yuuri is recovering from an invasive (and frankly, quite embarrassing) surgical procedure, and his visitation nurse turns out to be terribly, terribly attractive. If only they had met under less humiliating circumstances. SO GOOD OMFG I LOVE THIS FIC
Paging Dr. Katsuki by katsudon_s, Night shifts are never particularly fun for Yuuri, but a certain patient might be able to change that. Omg I love this so far!
shaky when i came to be by apollothyme, Gen, 4.3k He goes for another triple axel just as his breath is about to run out again, only this time something is wrong. He knows it as soon as he jumps into the air, but by then there’s nothing he can do. AU where Victor became a doctor instead of going into figure skating and Yuuri is a lucky patient. LOVE!
it must be the caffeine by cyanoscarlet, Gen, 1.5k “If it’s any consolation, I only got hot water from this thing,” Victor admits, tapping a hand over the button for the 3-in-1 coffee. “It cost a quarter, too.” Katsuki lets out a sound between a snort and a laugh. “Wow, that sucks, Doc.” Let it be known that The Doctor Is In (Love). Thumbs up!
Chemistry of a Car Crash by super_queer, Not Rated, 6.5k (Omegaverse) Katsuki Yuuri gets into a car accident and the doctor caring for him is Viktor Nikiforov. Features fluff, and a Viktor that doesn’t know how to ice skate. I haven’t read this, but it was rec’d to me by a follower!
