making your own magic

Witch Tips for City Witches

City Witch Tips for all of my fellow witches stuck in apartments, dorms or other city areas.

  • If you can’t burn incense you can make your own sprayable incense by mixing alcohol (usually vodka or rubbing) with essential oils and a bit of oil, spray in the air to act like incense
  • If you are unable to go outside for whatever reason to get rain water (in my case just no where to collect it safely), fill a jar or glass with regular water and keep it near a cracked window to charge it with the wind, sound and scent of the rain outside. Same goes for storm water
  • Trapped in city and unable to get ocean water? Sea salt mixed with rain/storm water can be an excellent substitute
  • To continue on with water substitutes, if you can’t collect snow crushed ice from your fridge will suffice
  • Low key warding/protection you can use: spray moon water, salt water or sprayable incense about your apartment or dorm, place sigils under doormats, furniture, inside cupboards, etc; place crystals about hidden or out in the open, sweep and dust out the door or towards windows
  • If you need melted wax to seal a jar or for any other magical purpose, but can’t burn candles, by a wax melter and melt that wax and imagine the light from the burner acting like a flame (plus they are rather cheap, I got mine for 25 bucks)
  • Need stars in your craft but too much light pollution? Glow in the dark stars on your ceiling or wall can work just as well for visualization. Print out pictures of your favorite constellations or planets and place them up on your walls or on your altar. Live video feed of the night sky can also be easily found on the internet
  • Bath magic is amazing for low-key ‘in the woods’ witches. Use teas, milk, oils, herbs, bath bombs, bubble baths, salts, etc that relate to your intent. It is also a good place to meditate if you have roommates or family around that would disturb you otherwise
  • If you do for whatever reason need to burn a candle, birthday candles are small, melt fast, and don’t create a lot of smoke or smokey scent
  • Sigils are another great low-key form of magic. To boost them up, use color magic related to the color you draw them in, write them using quills made of feathers related to your intent, use colored paper, rub a drop of essential oil on them, charge them with crystals or in your windowsill
  • You don’t have to burn sigils to activate them, which is hardly an option when you are in a dorm or apartment. Other options are: Shredding them, erasing them, soaking them in a bath or shower, using body heat or your own pulse, etc
  • Miss having the outdoors and plants around? Windowsill gardens can really help. Small plants you can consider keeping in your windowsill or counter-tops: succulents, cacti, bamboo, lemongrass, basic, rosemary, mint, rosemary, mosses, aloe, snake plant, pothos (and other vines), carrots, beets, shallots, lettuce, spinach, garlic, chives, parsley, oregano, thyme, and marigold
  • Open your window to let the wind and air from outside to help energize you and clear out negative energies inside
  • Fun places to put sigils: under furniture, carved into soap, onto shampoo/conditioner bottles, on your make up, inside phone cases, in shoes, under bandages, sewn into pillow cases and blankets, behind pictures in frames, underside of nail polish, carved into wax squares for your wax melter, keys and keychains, behind mirrors or in medicine cabinets, on bookmarks, on or in binders and pencil cases, on medicine bottles, and water bottles/travel mugs
  • Easy to make and dispose of poppets: carrot sticks (one of my personal favorites), apples or other fruit, clothe, paper, popsicle sticks, paper towels/napkins, toilet paper rolls, eggs, celery stocks, and cotton balls
  • The internet is an amazing thing. Need some sounds to help you focus or meditate? Easily look up the sounds of rain, storms, wind, ocean waves, jungles, forests, etc
  • Christmas lights are fun and great way to use discrete witchcraft. Select ones in the colors you wish for them to bring ie green for growth, yellow for inspiration, white for protection, purple for psychic abilities, etc.
  • Some everyday things you can use for discrete witchcraft that don’t cost much at all or that you most likely already have: water, table salt, black pepper, paper, crayons/pencils/pens/markers, vinegar, milk, tea, highlighters, make up and beauty supplies, shampoo and conditioner, rubber bands, paperclips, thumbtacks, computer/phone/tablet, music/music player, playing cards, dice, air freshener, perfumes, toothpaste, rice, flour, sugar, honey, and all kitchen herbs and seasonings.
  • Can’t afford gemstones or crystals on college budget? Crackle and dyed quartz you can find super cheap at craftstores and online. I bought a whole bag for 4 bucks. Use them based on their colors and shapes. Can’t afford that but still want to use rocks in your craft? Find some rocks you like outside, again use their colors and shapes to determine their correspondences. Want to use them for a specific purpose? Paint sigils on them in the color that corresponds with what you want! Charge them in your windowsill or with your own energy and intent. There you go!
  • Pocket mirrors are cheap, easy to carry around and great for glamours and on the go magic.
  • Seriously though, glamour spells are going to be a good option for you. use your make up, skin products, hair care products, brushes/combs, perfume, mirrors, toothbrush/toothepaste and intent. Good to do while you are getting ready for your day
  • Dream magic is another friend of the city witch! Use crystals, sigils, herbs, etc near your bed before you go to sleep, drink some chamomile, get yourself a dream journal (mine is literally a notebook with construction paper on it), keep it and a pen near you. In the morning write down your dreams, your thoughts, how you feel (tired, refreshed, groggy, etc), and interpret them.
  • Can’t afford tarot cards? Print out some, you can usually find them online and they won’t last as long as a real deck but it is a good temporary solution. Want a Ouija board but can’t keep one or need it to be easily hidden? Print one out, draw on one on paper or cardboard, fold it up and store it once you are done. Want a pendulum but can’t afford one? Use your favorite necklace, bracelet or keychain!
  • Tea and coffee magic is great, make your own tea blends with the herbs you like. Or just buy simple green or black tea and add sugar, milk, etc depending on your intentions
  • As I said before, crock pot magic. The Modern Cauldron: brew and cook all day with it, fill your apartment with the scent of the herbs and food to fill it with the energies they correspond with and you get a delicious meal to come home to! Most dorms allow them. Rice cookers also work well.
  • Can’t afford fresh food? Have to survive on ramen, canned soup, and microwaved meals? That is okay! They even correspond with things! Tomato soup for love, beauty and passion. Beef ramen noodles for strength, courage and longevity. Microwave mac n cheese for beauty and feminity. Look at their ingredients and what they correspond with. Sure its not as glamorous as a making a huge made by scratch traditional meal but its kitchen magic none the less. Stir it with your intent while you cook. It isn’t fancy but it works just as well!
  • Use a notebook or binder for a nice grimoire, decorate it as much as you want on the inside. Print out pictures of nature, animals, planets, stars, places, crystals, etc that you cant’ access/afford and use them in your craft. Spell books and grimoires are powerful tools
  • Don’t have a wand? Use a wooden spoon. Tie a colored string or ribbon to it to correspond with what energy you want it to have and move and flick it as you would a wand.
  • Knitting, crocheting, and knot magic is very apartment friendly. As well as sewing and embroidering plus it is super calming.
  • Glitter, sequins, and beads are great in witchcraft! Use their colors to determine their correspondences. Put them in spell jars, sachets, bottles, etc. Glitter tip: if you spill any don’t fret, get some packing tape, wrap it around your hand with the sticky part outwards and dab at that glitter spill. You will literally pick up all of the glitter in seconds!
  • Enchant and charge your pots, pans, skillets, and other cookware to make every meal magical
  • Make moonwater in your windowsills. Use it for cleansing, beauty, divination, clarity, protection and purification
  • Take walks. Even if it is a city there is still nature about. Pigeons flying about, potted flowers outside of stores, grass growing in front lawns, etc. Enjoy yourself, even if it is not some wild, vast forest you can still connect with your local nature.
  • Pick up litter or garbage you see outside, being in the city we all see it. The natural world around you will appreciate you helping out. Bring a bag with you when you take your walks or travel and fill it with wrappers you see on the ground.

I hope this was helpful to all of my fellow city and dorm witches!

college witch tips!

being a witch and living in a tiny dorm or apartment is a hassle… but here’s some (cheap and easy) tips to make your life a lot easier coming from a college witch!

quick note: if you are a student, you can get six months free of amazon prime with a student email account, and from then on out prime is only $50 instead of $100! amazon is a great place for tons of cheaper witchy resources (and really worth it for textbooks).

💎 crystals! whether you’re sharing a room with someone or in a room by yourself, plenty of people collect and use crystals. check for local flea markets or see if there is an occult shop in your area, there’s bound to be some there. great starter crystals are clear quartz (an essential crystal), amethyst, and rose quartz!

📚 the library! your school library will have some sort of resources. also don’t worry about people thinking you’re strange for checking out books on magick… i promise they don’t care!

🕯 candles and incense! when i lived in a dorm, i hated not being able to light candles and burn incense. invest in some battery powered candles! you can get packs at local dollar stores or walmarts. as for aroma related magick, purchase some oils and mix them with some salt water and spray them around your room! oil warmers or wax warmers are also wonderful alternatives.

📖 a grimoire/book of shadows! i highly suggest keeping a personal book. no, you don’t have to get some elaborate leather bound book that came straight out of hocus pocus for it to be legit. you could find a sketchbook somewhere, use a three ring binder, or buy a hardback book at a thrift store and paint over the pages! your book is what you make of it. it is your own novel of personal magical experiences and knowledge, so make it your own!

🌵 plants! invest in cacti and succulents especially if you are a beginner or live in a tight space, they’re easy to manage throughout the rough mishaps and late nights of school work. cacti are great for protection and banishing negativity, where succulents bring love and healing. both plants can represent the ability to survive through conditions others cannot. if you have a balcony, take advantage!

⚗️ jars! now is a great time to collect containers from thrift stores, gather old pickle jars, and look for sales and coupons craft stores may have since most of them will have all sorts of neat jars.

🔮 an altar! if you don’t have a roommate to worry about, great! do your thing. if you do (and the don’t exactly seem cool with the whole witch thing), you can make a subtle altar of candles, crystals, and some plants or flowers. they don’t have to be elaborate. you could keep a small altar in a shoe box or draw one in your bos/grimoire! get creative!

✍️ sigils! use sigils. abuse sigils. put them everywhere. write them in binders or on your skin, write them on sticky notes or ripped paper and put them places you’ll see them or bury them outside. sleep with a protective one under your pillow. there’s so many things to do and its so easy to use them!

🎨 get creative! you can make crystals out of salt (another thing you should invest in), learn how to read playing cards if you can’t afford a tarot deck, and never forget you can find the coolest things at thrift stores. paint can be your best friend!

☕️ tea and coffee! a keurig is a wonderful investment. whether you like coffee or tea, it gives you boiling water fast without leaving a dorm. enchant your keurig and remind yourself of the properties in your drink to help you learn.

✨ decorating! take advantage of things like twinkle lights and washi tape! if you don’t know about washi tape, its a decorating tape that does not damage walls. create constellations or sigils with washi tape on your walls! amazon also sells many cheap tapestries. give yourself a comfortable and pleasant space to live and work!

⏳ plan! enchant your planners to help you remember due dates, and while you’re at it, keep track of moon phases and other events! many calendars will tell you when full moons are.

⚖️ meditate! this is something i find very important to stay sane during hard semesters. if you have a roommate, maybe meditate in the morning or late at night laying in bed. you could also meditate when they have classes. its okay if you cant every day, but its important to remember to save time for you.

🏃‍♀️ walks! if you live in a dorm there’s a big chance you’ll be walking to class. enjoy these walks with nature, read outside every now and again, but make sure that you are always safe.

⏱ take your time! you do not have to collect all of these things in a week, month, or even year. witchcraft is all about intent and energy. you hold the power, the items are only there to help. manifest your own power, collect at your own pace.

🔎research! always research properties of things. buy cheap dried herbs from grocery stores and work with them, figure out what to put in your coffee to help you with your day, and learn how to enchant crystals to help you feel a little more confident about your studies. most importantly, learn to balance your studies and your witchy research, and don’t let witchcraft get in the way of your schoolwork. school should come first always!

i hope this helped some of you college witches, new and experienced! i am always open to answer questions! happy casting!

☆What to put in your Book Of Shadows!☆

(This post is inspired by a baby witch in our Coven @andtrickfucker)

Starting as up as a witch can often be overwhelming and confusing. We’ve all been there when we sit with our grimoire, a pen out as we stare down at an empty piece of paper, a small (hypothetical) tear rolling down our face as we attempt to write something down, only to discover that we have no idea what to do and where to start. As two witches who have most definitely struggled with this before we decided that it would be very important for us to make a list to help you all out!

Firstly, we’d start out with the very basics of witchcraft!

(Obviously according to whatever craft you do but lets just assume the general craft for now and work with what we’ve got.)

☆ Ask yourself what path you follow, what sort of craft do you practice? Is there anything specific you what to jot down about your craft? If so, note it at the start of your grimoire! It could be super helpful to you in the future.
☆ If you’re not an atheistic witch then you can also mention what deities you worship and those in their pantheon (unless you’re an animistic witch!)
☆ You could write about the elements and moon cycles, as some witches find this to be very important to them!
☆ Do you have some crystals that are your favourite to work with? Write them down, and what you use them for! (We have some information about this here!)
☆ You can even write down how to charge and cleanse them and even how you intended to use them in spells!
☆ Do you use a lot of herbs and plants? Write them down too! If you’re fairly arty like us don’t be afraid to do a little sketch of whatever you’re writing!
☆ Like crystals, you could write down when or how to use them. It doesn’t have to be detailed or complex, just do it in a way that you’ll remember or understand!
☆ Candles are often important too, so (even if you’re not particularly interested in candle magic) it might be helpful to have them in there as well. If you write their correspondences down too, it’ll save you a bunch of time looking through the internet for their meaning, trust me.

Do you practice divination and spirit work?

☆Tarot references can be helpful, especially if you don’t have a book to learn or work from! You could even write down the results of your tarot readings, keeping a note of exactly what you’ve been pulling and how you’ve been doing reading wise!(You might wanna ask for permission if you’re going to write about readings you’ve done on others though!)
☆ How to use a crystal ball, if you have one!
☆ How to sense auras and what they mean.
☆ If you use rune stones it might be helpful for you to write down their names and meanings!(Wilde uses runes a lot and had to do this because she gets confused and forgets the meanings of runes almost 24/7) Again, if you want, you can write about the outcomes of your readings.
☆ How to use a pendulum.

Spell work

☆ An inventory of different salts, herbs and crystals; branching away from your most used and favourites! you never know, one might catch your eye!
☆ Different types of spells (clearly)! We find it helps if you split them up categorically but if you don’t want to then don’t do it! Write down your hexes, curses, charms and your run of the mill spells, especially ones that you’ve written yourself!

Miscellaneous

☆ How to make sigils and the sigils themselves!
☆ If you use other peoples sigils write them down with there meanings too, that way you don’t forget or you don’t use a sigil that you wanted to work with later on!
☆ Notes on how you feel or your specific emotions. This is important because emotions can obviously influence and change the way spells and sigils work!
☆ Do you use astrology? Write down the zodiac signs and their correspondences, along with the stars, the planets and everything in between!
☆ How to meditate and the benefits of meditation.
☆ Types of salts and their purposes.
☆ How to make different types of oils.
☆ How to make different types of waters!
☆ How to make your own candles.
☆ How to make your own salves!
☆ A magical cookbook!

Remember! Your grimoire doesn’t have to look perfect (Quinn’s is an absolute state) As long as it holds the information you need and as long as you can read it that’s the only thing that matters!

As suggested by @maikawethiel make a digital version to keep with you at all times! You can do this via word online, google documents or even evernote which you can then download onto a portable device! This can be handy for emergancy situations too!

I know this isn’t everything you could possibly put in your grimoire however feel free to reblog and add to it!! Blessed be! -Wilde and Quinn

It's ok to be a witch and

• be religious { Catholic, Christian, Jewish etc.} It’s ok.

• be gay, transgender, gender fluid, bisexual etc. It’s ok.

• not want to be labeled. It’s ok

In this endless world, I was searching for you…

🌊 Stem the Tide 🌊

a water based spell to stop or slow events, or to push someone back.

To “Stem the Tide” is a nautical expression to describe ships sailing against the tide of the water, that was slowly them down.

🌊  gather: crushed rosemary, a divination board, a representative object.

* a divination board can be a pendulum board, ouija board, anything that has various answers

🌊  go to bathwater or a puddle, other body of water if you are landlocked.

🌊  weigh the divination board down at the bottom.

🌊  sprinkle crushed rosemary over the water

🌊  place the representative object to float in over the center of the board.

🌊  gather energy around your hands, perhaps even with a tempest spell.

🌊  using your hands, influence and push the tide to move where the object is over the board. the object is like the planchette or pendulum for the board, but you are giving it the answers.

🌊  though you cannot change the entire tide or command where a wave crashes, you affect the waters in your own way, making ripples and splashes.

Ways to Make Your Morning Routine Magical Without People Knowing It Is In Fact Witchy *BREATHE*

I know that some of us may be in the woods when it comes to being a witch, and you may feel this prevents you from being a “good witch” SO what this entry is about is how to start your day off on a witchy start!
1. Waking Up

When you wake up, do a very small cleansing. Tell yourself “with the new sun there is a new me” and feel the energy of the new day go through you from the feet up as you step on the floor. Acknowledge this  day will only happen once, and make the most of it!

2. Bathroom Routine - Face Wash

You are quite literally cleaning your face, so why not clean your energy while you do it? Do a small glamor as well so others can see you only in the best light. When you wash your eyelids, have it correspond to your sight not being clouded by emotion, and stuff like that. Make this you!
If you are one to wear makeup, have your makeup correspond to your intentions. Lipstick can be that you can be heard if a dark color and if a light color have it that you do not say things which may offend others by accident, foundation can be that you are protected (like a shield) or people do not see your true intentions (sneaky McSneaker you!) and mascara can be to see true intentions, and well, anything!

3. Bathroom Routine - Brushing your Teeth (you better brush you nasty)

You are literally cleaning your mouth. CLEANSE THAT ENERGY. Your mouth can correspond to words, so maybe cleanse it in the way that your words remain kind, and to give a boost in having your words make sense to others especially if you struggle to get your sentences straight. This can also be good for luck on a presentation that you do not mumble, you seem confident, and you totally did not just BS this entire thing last night at 2am (whaaaaaat?!)

4. Bathroom Routine - Shower (if you shower in the morning)

Okay, so again with the literal to psychic cleansing. But seriously, the shit you can do in the shower besides peeing wait what. This is a perfect opportunity to cleanse those energy points my friend! CLEANSE THAT SHIT. Morning, night, middle of the day, cleeeasne that shiiiit! Nobody sees you in the shower do your shit but do not waste all the hot water that makes people pretty pissed. You can also clean off the negative energy that is on you, and literally wash it all away.

5. Breakfast (If you eat it)

So you are about to eat and probably with family. No problem! Look at what you are having, and this gets easier if you make your own- but look at the ingredients in it. Food has magical properties - USE IT. For example, I had eggs with cinnamon (judge me and I swear to the gods above)  Eggs, to me, symbolise protection and life, and “cinnamon can be used in magic for protection, prosperity, scrying, and warm, comforting love. Cinnamon is all about security“ (some website I found a long time ago). Find what your food means and incorporate that energy into your day!

6. Getting Somewehere

School, work, your mailbox, who cares? The simple way to make this witchy is get a stickynote, make a sigil for safe travels, and put it inside your shoe or in your pocket.

Coffee Spell

My mornings start with me making my daily pot of coffee and I spice it up with adding some magic to energize my day.

Ingredients:
Coffee grounds of your choice.
Coffee pot.
Filter.
Purified water (filtered)

or

* A cup of local coffee or Starbucks coffee

Optional:
Preferred creamers and sweeteners, if desired.

Directions:
1. Make however many cups that you desire and pour the water into the coffee pot. As you pour, visualize your cup of coffee eliminating all the sluggish energies lingering from the night before.

2. Put your grounds into the filter and visualize your cup of coffee energizing you for the day ahead.

3. Brew your coffee. When it is finished, if you add in optional ingredients, stir it in clockwise saying either out loud or in your head, “I will be energized. My energy will rise. I will gain power to my step today.” or something along the lines.

4. Take a small inhale (inhaling the power you just installed) then drink your coffee, if you drink more than one cup then repeat step three. So mote it be. Let the coffee and your magic get you going.

* If you can’t make your own coffee or are in a rush and just picking up a coffee; after you have received it (when you can) place both your hands around the cup, close your eyes, and either say out loud or in your head, “The power lies within me and I will be energized for the day ahead.” or something along the lines. Get a little close to your coffee, take a small inhale (inhaling the power you just installed) then take a sip. So mote it be. Let the coffee and your magic get you going.

I hope you enjoy dearies and hope that this can help you get energize for the day with some low-maintenance/budget witchcraft!

Suddenly this all takes a sharp turn and the DM goes 'Out Of Character’: “What? Magic shop?” You kindly explain that there isn’t such a thing. Says so right there in the DMG, see? It is impossible for one to exist in a 5e D&D world. Period.

Your sassy players do not give up. Someone points out such shops exist here in reality on Earth, despite having no provable magic. There are even different kinds (lots sell incense and religious stuff, some selling bits o’ stone, people may want to stare at your crystal balls and it just goes wild from there). They point out a variant human’s feat can give any commoner a bunch of cantrips and one first level spell. So why doesn’t anyone own anything enchanted?

This guide gives you RaW self-defense. You can have as many magic shops as you like without breaking any rules. The trick is to put items in them that are interesting, fun and even useful despite the fact that almost nothing is an uncommon or rare magic item.

🔮 PREPARING A LITHOMANCY SET 🔮

Lithomancy – the practise of divination through casting stones and reading how they fall – is one of the most ancient and (in my opinion) effective divining methods out there, as well as costing nothing to set up and being something you can completely teach yourself and make your own. I recently went on a trip to an incredible and magical beach where I collected an array of exceptional rocks, pebbles, shells and fossils for this purpose, so I thought I’d make a long post on creating and preparing a kit.

GATHERING

🔮 First of all – they need not be stones, or all be stones, although the name “lithomancy” refers specifically to stones. Some cast with bones, or sticks, or shells. Some cast with whatever the hell they can find at the time. Use whatever speaks to you.

🔮 It will feel more organic to find your stones out in their natural habitat, preferably in a place that you feel a connection with, but it’s okay to purchase. The most important thing is that the set is personalised to you and that each piece of it has been chosen by you, connected to you, for a reason. Even if that reason isn’t immediately clear – it doesn’t have to be yet. Assignation will happen later.

🔮 You should use a level of instinctive guidance to find your casting stones. Perhaps you’ve even been gathering them already, drawn to them and bringing them home with you – don’t rule out stones and bits and bobs already in your possession.

🔮 Take a moment for every potential casting stone you pick up. Hold it in your hand, roll it around, look at it, think on it, get a feel for it. Start to form a picture of what it may contribute to a divination. Keep what you can’t bear the thought of throwing away. Discard everything else.

CLEANSING

🔮 First of all, a physical cleaning. Nothing too harsh – you don’t want to damage the stones or scrub them raw. (For bones and the like though, research and follow good hygiene practises accordingly. Also recommended: the law.) Generally I find a shortish soak in some warm saltwater effective enough. A light sponging to get rid of any mud, sand, etc, if there is any. Apply common sense.

🔮 Then comes the more metaphysical cleansing. Depending on your practise, you could also consecrate or bless them. Some ideas: passing through incense or smoke, cleansing with blessed/spiritually purified or charged water (you could combine this with the physical cleaning), put into a grid with cleansing crystals, using bells/sound, and personally I’ve been using sunlight to cleanse as well as charge mine.

ASSIGNATION

🔮 Set aside some time, fire up the incense, get some mood music on, ground and centre and get yourself in a good headspace. Ideally you’ll also have a nice cleansed and moody space to carry out the assignation process. This will be when you give each of your stones/objects a ‘meaning’, similar to each Tarot card having its own set of meanings and associations, or the runes that some cast. But stones are more free-form and intuitive, and the meanings are discerned and given only by you.

🔮 What you’ll be doing is almost like meditating with each of your stones. Pick up the ones that speak strongly to you first, maybe the ones that you already have some idea of their meaning – these will be the easiest to assign meanings to.

🔮 The physical appearance of the stone is a good starting point. Make sure to have a good inspection of each one. Then, enclose it in your hand and close your eyes. Feel the life inside of the stone and what it says to you. Tell it what its name and meaning is – whisper it aloud into the stone if you must. Make contact. Make sure it’s working in accord with you.

🔮 The easiest way to note down these meanings for you to memorise is to set out a piece of paper or two, and once you know what a stone means, lay it down on the piece of paper and write underneath it the name, meanings and associations. This gives you a sort of physical ‘key.’ Taking a photo of the paper spread/s once it’s done will act as a handy cheat sheet.

🔮 You’ll want a nice, rounded-out set of associations in order to give your divination depth and reach. Some traditions suggest using the different planets (and their associations) for the stones, and other simple suggestions might be elements, deities, past/present/future, etc. There are some out there that suggest a lithomancy set must contain a certain number of stones and they must have certain fixed meanings, but my opinion is that using your own intuition will make it more powerful for you. Plus, most of these traditions I could find were western European in origin, which obviously isn’t where all of our practises are from anyway. Research your traditions or make your own meanings – it’s all down to you.

CHARGING

🔮 There are a ton of resources on charging out there, and you’ll likely learn or already know best what works for you. This is a good, simple post on it for beginners. My favourite method is charging by sunlight, not only because it’s simple but because of how it falls into my belief system too.

🔮 Some suggestions: sunlight, moonlight, starlight, charged crystals and crystal grids, water of various properties (rain, storm, sea), laying out on grass or soil or tree roots or in herb planters, bones (bone grid?) and feathers and such…

PRACTISE

🔮 After taking some time to familiarise yourself with your set and its meanings, it’s time to begin practising. Just chuck ‘em! Start off by doing readings for and about yourself. Get a feel for your set and how it speaks. This is also the time to make adjustments to the meanings of some of the stones, or add new associations.

🔮 You’ll also want to start putting together your pre-divination rituals. A cleanse and a charge, a bit of grounding with incense, a hearty meal, a word with your ancestors? What works for you will become clear with practise.

🔮 In terms of the reading itself: make note of the shape that they have fallen in. The stones that are close together, and the ones that are far apart. Any that line up or form a shape. Some like to use a “self” stone or object that they can use to orient the reading around.

🔮 Some don’t cast all of their stones in one reading – I don’t. You can pick relevant stones for readings that are more specific, or just grab a random handful of stones from a bag and use those. That way, which stones are ‘drawn’ will tell you something all by itself. Change up how you cast and read during your practise period, try every method you can think of. Get creative!

🔮 I don’t think casting stones is good for yes/no answers personally, but did find this quick tip: pick a stone to mean yes/positive, and one to mean no/negative. Pick a ‘self’ stone or object. Cast them. Whichever one lands closest to the ‘self,’ there’s your answer.

🔮 I don’t know if I will, but you may also want to look into creating and incorporating a casting grid. These are shape and charts (usually on cloth) that you can cast upon, and act as a ‘map’ so that stones landing in certain quadrants will let you know what that particular stone is relevant to.

UPKEEP

🔮 Over time you can add to, take away from and generally change up your lithomancy set – what you pick to start off with isn’t the end all, be all. The best divination sets will change and become more attuned to you over time.

🔮 I tie my stones up in a square of batik fabric when not using them, and also use the fabric to cast upon. Simple, neat, effective.

🔮 Remember to keep on cleansing and charging your set as required.

Soulmate Seungkwan

Part of the Seventeen Soulmate Series

The world is a beautiful place in so many ways. There are brilliant landscapes, small acts of human kindness, and all sorts of captivating things that can catch an eye or turn a head.

But the one thing that intrigues you most is the certain kind of beauty which is hidden away- by nature itself- by the unfathomable laws of the universe- by something no one quite understands.

There are things only certain people can see.

When you look down at your body, you know your skin is covered all over in intricate tattoos; yours are bright, all ribbons of pastel colors, weaving together into decorative symbols, shot through here and there with the brightest threads of glowing gold. But no one else can see the marks. To their eyes, you have empty skin.

Indeed, the only person ever able to see the tattoos that mark another is the one connected to them in their very soul: the other half: the Soulmate.

Okay, so today I am going to share with you lovelies a simple revenge curse.
What you will need:
- A black candle (or white)
- A piece of paper holding your intended’s name on it
- A space or area you feel comfortable working in.

Steps:
1. Gather supplies.
2. Write your intended’s name on a piece of paper.
3. Get in a comfortable position and light a black candle.
4. While concentrating on your intent chant the following:
“Before this night is over,
before the day is through.
What you have done to others,
will come right back for you.”
5. Keep chanting while you burn their paper with their name on it.

Changes:
- You can use a white candle.
- You can carve sigils onto the candle if you wish.
- You can always change the chant to make it more personal for you.
- You can change the time, for example, “Until you understand the error of your ways, harm will only come your way.”

Make it your own and enjoy!

Homemade Fertilizer

Can’t afford to buy fertilizer or just want to make your own? Here is my magic plant juice recipe (proven to yield awesome results)!

You will need:
- A clean jar
- Banana peels
- Egg shells
- Used coffee grounds OR tea bags
- Coffee filter / paper towel (for straining)

1. Chop up banana peels.
2. Clean egg shells of any remaining yolk and/or film.
3. Collect used coffee grounds (or used tea bags, if you don’t drink coffee).
4. Place all of these in your CLEAN! jar.
5. Top with water. Close jar and shake it up nice and good.
6. Leave it alone in a cool, dark place for about a week.
7. Strain the solids.
8. Keep refrigerated. Or don’t. Personally I just leave it a cool, dark corner of my studio. Just make sure to keep it out of direct sunlight.

* Use fertilizer full-strength on plants that really need a boost. Otherwise, you can dilute it with water.
* Banana peels are full of macronutrients like potassium and magnesium, eggshells add calcium, and coffee grounds add nitrogen.

Now go forth and get your plants drunk and happy!!!

anonymous asked:

Hey, I read you know a lot about sigils. Is there a list of sigil making methods somewhere or could you explain how you make yours? I'd love to understand sigil magic! Thanks XO

Hey!

I know a good bit about working sigils in my own way, yes, lol.

My personal method can be found [here]. This was written a couple years ago, but it basically has stayed the same the entire time, with a few minor tweaks.

As for a list of sigil making methods…

Some tips I have for you:

  • sigils are a part of chaos magic, in which there are no set rules on how to do things “right” - this means you can work with sigils in whatever method you wish
    • so don’t worry about doing it “right” or “wrong,” or practicing differently than other people
  • as you can probably tell by all the links, there are many ways to create sigils; some creation methods share similar ideas, while others take new and creative ways to make the magical symbols
    • this means you can work on your own method and it is still valid
    • feel free to tweak any other methods you find to best suit your own interests as well (as long as you don’t take complete credit for it)
  • it is important that you like how the sigil looks - just like tarot decks, you’ll have a stronger connection to it
    • you can also use sigils other people have created, provided they give permission for it
  • it will take time and practice - you may find yourself thinking your sigils don’t look good in the beginning
    • trust me, neither did I
    • I sometimes had to draw 12 separate sigils for the same intent before I got one I liked
    • just keep drawing, you’ll get one you dig soon enough, and it will get easier and quicker the more you work with sigils
  • don’t forget to [charge them]!

Good luck! :D

Indoor Herb Garden

The best part about Magic is making things yourself. If you can take the time to piece something together, it ends up being more powerful than something you can just buy.

Today I will be discussing indoor herb gardens. To start you have to think about where is the best place to have the garden? Find a little window sill that has light during the day but keep the plants at least 3-4 inches away from the window so the herbs don’t cook in hot sunlight.

Next you have to think about what the best herbs could be to grow inside. I suggest you go with oregano, mint, rosemary, and thyme. Each of these can be found at your local flower shop or grocery store.

Now the magical aspect of these herbs are the reason you are growing these (besides the fact you have fresh herbs to cook with now) here are the specific qualities of each herb:

Oregano:

  • Planet: Venus
  • Element: Air
  • Magical Uses: happiness, tranquility
  • Other Magical Uses: Animals, grieving, harmony, love, peace, protection, psychic development, weddings

Mint:

  • Planet: Venus
  • Element: Air
  • Magical Uses: cleansing, consecration, dreams, happiness, healing, love, money, passion, prosperity, protection, psychic development, purification, release, renewal, rest, sleep
  • Other Magical Uses: Animals, divination, endings, energy, exorcism, good luck, grieving, spirit offering, success, transformation
  • Lore: Mints are sacred to the god Hades, because a young lovely named Minthe was transformed into a mint to keep her from Hades’ embrace. Mint is also sometimes attributed to Zeus. Pair mint with topaz or chalcedony for best effect.

Rosemary:

  • Planet: Sun
  • Element: Fire
  • Magical Uses: cleansing, confidence, consecration, courage, exorcism, good luck, grieving, happiness, healing, knowledge, love, memory, passion, peace of mind, prevents theft, protection, psychic development, psychic protection, purification, release, ritual, rituals for the dead, water rites/sea rituals, weddings
  • Other Magical Uses: blessings, dreams, endings, energy, elves, fidelity, honesty, inspiration, invocation, longevity, meditation, new moon, prevents nightmares, sleep, strength, transformation, wisdom, Yule
  • Lore: Rosemary is associated in Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet” with remembrance, so its link to memory is old. Even older are its associations with general magic and healing, with feminine power–folklore states that a healthy rosemary plant grew where a woman was head of the family–and with goddesses, especially of the sea. Catholic healers associated it with Mary.

Thyme:

  • Planet: Venus
  • Element: Air
  • Magical Uses: clairvoyance, cleansing, consecration, courage, divination, dreams, exorcism, faeries, happiness, healing, love, money, prevents nightmares, protection, psychic development, purification
  • Other Magical Uses: compassion, confidence, contacting other planes, grieving, magic, meditation, Midsummer, passion, release, renewal, rituals for the dead, Summer rituals, wishing
  • Lore: Thyme has strong ties to faery lore. Pair it with pearls.

You can also decorate the pots and add crystal to the soil to empower the herbs. Make it all your own and your magic will become more powerful.
