midwestern gothic is my new favourite thing
- you fall asleep on a road trip driving by an expansive cornfield. you wake up two hours later. the sun is setting but you are still driving by the same cornfield. where are you going?
- you have to stop for gas in the middle of the night coming home from work. there are train tracks next to the old gas station and you hear a foghorn distantly but no train ever comes.
- you shut your laptop at 2 in the morning and collapse into bed. you start to fall asleep listening to the sounds of crickets chirping. the crickets’ song gets louder and louder until it is a comforting but deafening white noise. you sit up in bed suddenly. there are no crickets where you live
