~ END OF EPISODE ~

“but the libfem community is so positive! !! ! radfem spaces are so negative and dark!! so isn’t libfem more ~progressive and ~welcoming?? ?”

you’re right. libfem communities are very, very, very positive. in-your-face positive: with all their kawaii-ed “you are valid” slogans, their “xyz-identified people are beautiful because” floral-ed checklists, and commitment to erasing any meaning to sexuality and gender aside from “you can be whatever you want!”, libfem circles are overwhelmingly positive. in fact, they’re downright sweet. they welcome anyone who “feels different”. anyone. they’re so positive that you forget about the negatives aside from when someone points out that the positivity is kind of flawed. they’re so welcoming that you forget exactly who or what their feminism is fighting for. it’s brilliant, actually: the warmth of libfem spaces is intoxicating and the commitment to inclusion is so optimistic in name it’s hard to see what the consequences are.

libfem is very positive. radfem spaces don’t kawaii their shit and they don’t float over reality with a magic wand that says “xyz people are wonderful” and “anyone can be anything” (you can practically hear the Disney movie benevolence). radfem spaces are real: oppression fucking sucks and you can’t make that positive. women are the priority and they are what is important. it’s inclusive to women, not because its subscribers inherently dislike any other human beings in principle, but because the feminism itself is for women, and women only. it’s not warm; it’s safe. it’s not positive; it’s grounded. it’s not inclusive; it’s committed. it’s not a slogan banner; it’s a discussion, a movement, a fight, a community.

if you want warm and fuzzy and kawaii pastels, settle in with libfem circles. but know you’re trading in safety, security, reality, and actual progress.
