Derek Hale is a SMEA (Supernatural and Mythical Enforcement Agency) agent and a string of unusual murders in NYC are found connected to those popping up in LA. With Scott and Stiles in tow from New York… Well they become the number one murder suspects and Derek has to go undercover and pretend to date Stiles to make a break in the case.
After Agent Hale’s partner is killed, he gets landed with a young, nubile agent that doesn’t know how to keep his mouth shut and stop asking questions about things that aren’t his business to know.
It’s Stiles second year at UCLA and he still can’t decide what to major in, he prefers to concentrate on his hot new professor Derek, that Derek also gets involved as a consultant for the FBI when the ‘Virgin Killer’ strikes again, doesn’t make his life any easier. Not that he should concentrate on Derek when the ‘Virgin Killer’ shows his obvious fixation on Stiles.
Derek is happy that uni starts again, teaching gives his life a certain structure he missed over the summer, and no he won’t admit that he might have felt lonely. The newest case he is consulting on seems interesting enough until he realizes that one of his most brilliant students is involved, and he has to face the fact that spending time with Stiles is more dangerous than hunting down a killer could ever be.
FBI Agent Derek Hale is one of the good guys. He takes his suppressants and plays the part of a decent human being with remarkable accuracy. But when he’s sent in to interrogate Stiles Stilinski, alleged serial killer, it looks like the pack’s come back to haunt him.
“You shouldn’t pout like that, baby. Not when we planned you such a big surprise.”
- Part 1 of Placebo
Derek didn’t do field work. He refused. God knew the last time he left the office, it didn’t go so well. He’s perfectly content to just sit in his lab, help out from afar, and keep to himself.
If the kid who kept breaking all the rules would stop confusing him, things might have been OK. You know, with the kid he’s turned who he can’t stop worrying about, the damaged splinters of family he has left, and the Uncle he doesn’t trust looming over Stiles’ shoulder.
If he wasn’t so lonely, he’d pack it all in now.
