Today’s witch cocktail for the solstice is another original. It can only be done if you’ve made the rose floral vodka I shared last week.
The Rose of Verona
2 oz Rose Vodka
1 oz simple syrup*
Grapefruit (or lemon) sparkling water
Garnish can be cucumber and rose (I added mint because I can) or, a lemon twist
Mix simple syrup and rose vodka in a glass with ice, stir, don’t shake. Strain into martini glass and top with grapefruit sparkling water. Garnish and serve.

*If you don’t have simple syrup, take about 2 oz water and add in 4 barspoons or 4 teaspoons of powdered sugar and stir until dissolved.

It’s a simple but elegant cocktail, super refreshing and will taste almost like a floral iced tea with some bubbles. No burn or bite of alcohol.

I mentioned the herbal correspondences of the vodka, but adding citrus is the final step. Like in Yule, oranges, lemon, and grapefruit represent the sun. And as the longest day of the year, a little extra sun is needed for the cocktail.

How I Make Mindmaps - Study With Me #1

Hi friends!! I posted a little picture of some mindmaps I made last week and received quite a few questions about them so I thought I’d sit down and talk you through my process of making them, and how I use them in my revision. It’s my first ‘proper’ video and I’m still learning so please keep that in mind. I’ll get better with time.

I hope you may find even a small grain of helpfulness in this, and please feel free to leave me a comment with any feedback or tips on how you revise personally, I’d love to see them!  Also if you have any other video requests please let me know. Love you guys. 💗

I had today off and got a lot done.

Things I did not do:
-Write my personal statement or work on my MSPE
-Do my projects for my family medicine rotation
-Work on my family planning research IRB
-Send emails I’ve been putting off

Things I did do:
-Call Comcast (my literal hell) and negotiated my agreement so that the price won’t increase next year
-Get my eyebrows waxed before I get my graduation/ERAS headshot later this week
-Take my school’s Step 2 CS OSCE
-Take my cat to play with my sister’s cat since he was acting bored and running around everywhere
-Take a 2 hour nap (oops)
-Study for Step 2 CK a bit (over 3 months early but whatever, it makes me feel better)
-Finish leftover clinic notes from yesterday
-Made a bomb ass salad to last me for the week (and made my boyfriend Indian food since he asked nicely)
-Vacuum the apartment

I was feeling like shit about the stuff I didn’t do, but after writing this, I feel better. I accomplished a lot. I kind of suck at time management and tend to start things months in advance out of anxiety while ignoring the more important pressing matters with upcoming deadlines (also out of anxiety). Hopefully I can start some of those things I keep putting off soon, but for now, I’m ok with today.

I’m sitting at the airport in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and I’m getting all emotional looking through photos from my trip and reflecting on all of the memories I’ve made. I can’t believe that I actually did it. I went to Japan and it was better than I ever imagined. I got lost in its chaotic streets and loved every minute of it. And Thailand: there seems to be a wall of tension between tourists and Thai people, but somehow along the way I was able to penetrate that wall and make lifelong friends. I rode a moped through the countryside of Pai as the sun was setting and experienced a sort of self-realization that is indescribable. I did so many things that I never thought I would and I’m so, so grateful for my time here. I wasn’t completely satisfied with my medical internship program, but I made the best out of this last week and had the time of my life. I can’t wait to see what South America has in store for me next summer.
