Terra Nova  ~Part Ten: The End~

[See my Masterlist for earlier sections. I’d link them, but for some reason that negates the tags]

WE’RE HERE! :D Part Ten of Terra Nova - the last chapter. I’m so glad you guys are enjoying the story, it’s been so much fun to write. <3

THE STORY SO FAR: You’re in a tunnel, somewhere below the surface of the planet, searching for your lost ‘exhibit-mates’, while Bones and the rest of the Enterprise desperately try to get you back.

Pairing: Reader X Bones
Words: 3,614 (told you it would be a long one!)

Warnings: Swearing, descriptions of explosions, tension, secondary character death

Tagging: @medicatemedrmccoy, @outside-the-government, @kilismaiden, @gerardwayisapotato, @yourtropegirl, @malindacath, @imaginativefanatic, @flowerfairies101, @arcticbubby, @oxymoroniccat, @phanofmanythings and @loverbug1123. Let me know if you want to be tagged in my future posts :)

The tunnel was cold. A shiver ran down your back and you pressed your body into the wall, waiting as footsteps slowly faded, becoming one with the soft vibrations that filled the space. You let the air settle for a moment, then crouched low and moved off into the darkness once again, listening hard for any sound beyond your own heartbeat. You shuffled over to the nearest door and pressed gently against the metal. With a soft whine it gave way, and you peered in to find the walls lined with bottles, and the floor filled with boxes.

Moving inside, you scanned the labels around you, searching for anything that might be useful, but there was no point – you couldn’t read the local language. Your eyes fell on the crate just in front of you, and in a last-ditch attempt to salvage anything before you reentered the tunnel, you pulled off the lid with a loud snap.

my grandmother was born somewhere between romania and transylvania
i do not know much else about her
but i know
she had one older brother
(like me)
she had bright blue eyes
(like my brother)
and her father died when she was too young
(just like mine did)

my grandmother was sent to auschwitz.
she watched her mother get sent to her death.
her life was saved by a nurse
whose name she never knew.
she met the love of her life in a dp camp
and she moved to canada not speaking english
and just five years later
she had a son
(and then three more)
and she was happy.

i do not know much about my grandmother
i don’t know her birthday or her hometown
or what she sounded like when she laughed
i don’t even know the number that was tattooed on her arm,
her reminder that she made it out of hell alive.
but i do know that only two things
truly separate me from my grandmother,
and they are
time and circumstance
and nothing in this world scares me more than that.

(family) history

I wrote this as part of a poetry suite for my writing lab, and i thought that today, yom hashoah, would be a good time to share it with you all. my grandmother lived a good life after the holocaust. at the time of her death, she had four sons and thirteen grandchildren. now, her legacy is two sons, fifteen grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; her great-granddaughter bears her name. my zeida, he’s still alive, though his dementia is so bad he can no longer communicate at all. he and my grandmother were so incredibly in love, so incredibly happy, and they lived with daily reminders of the atrocities they survived. we can never forget, because we cannot allow the same horrors to be relived. i can never forget because it is a horror that flows through my blood and makes up my atoms.

Imma upload a passage from Lost Time Lullaby bc I really like it and I don’t care if everyone hates it

‘Hands off,’ bellowed Sam. Something in Sam’s hand reflected the sunlight brightly into my eyes.  Graeme groaned. He looked from Sam’s face – which I couldn’t see – to the knife, and fright fell over his scarred features. He scrambled to his feet.
‘You… You’re mad!’ stuttered Graeme feebly. I couldn’t even imagine how lethal Sam’s expression must’ve been. Sam was shaking with rage from head to toe.
‘Ever heard of the term “justifiable homicide”?’ said Sam just a bit too calmly.

I'm convinced that Mofftiss don't see John as an equal to Sherlock. They don't care about his backstory, his established characterization in the books or what he's capable of doing. It is the biggest crime in adaptation history.

Yeah, I’m starting to think that as well Nonny, especially since they literally replaced his role as the storyteller with Mary. And HEY guess whose backstory we got instead? Mary. And guess who took over John’s (and essentially Sherlock’s) role as partner / detective? Mary. Like I feel like they decided Mary was indeed more important than John ever was. AND it’s even more frustrating for me because they WERE building Mary up to be an exciting villain, and instead made her a terrible plucky … whatever the hell they ruined her to be. Bleh. I fear that they really DON’T value the Holmes/Watson dynamic. Which is so bizarre given what we had pre-S4, because it WAS all about their relationship, even when Mary was there. So I don’t get why suddenly John was relegated to a side character and Mary had more screen time dead than John did in all three eps. *sighs*

I personally used to think Destiel was a more platonic ship, but now I see the more romantic side through the more recent seasons and your blog has also helped me see the more romantic side

Dude, I live for messages like this, seriously, a flutter of warmth filled my heart.

Am I a Destiel preacher? Helping people see the truth in the text? lol

What I love about this is that I and the meta writers don’t make a thing up, we just analyse what is given to us by the show based on standard literary and cinematographic knowledge and texts, it’s not rocket science, cos it’s THERE.

This is what they’re telling us, so yeah, it’s definitely real. Also, hell yes it has ramped up in recent seasons (Chuck bless Dabb!). Whether they decide to follow through is separate but it is definitely there and I’m thinking there must be a reason they’ve ramped it up in recent seasons, enough so that people like yourself are now noticing it… You just consolidated my view that this was the case, thank you!!

Thank you for this awesome message :)

i LOVE how snape apologists make it sound like the marauders made snape’s life hell every minute of everyday and how he was the poor victim who wasn’t capable of standing up to himself against those horrible demonic creatures.
as if “snape never missed an opportunity to curse james” was a lie. as if snape wasn’t on his way to being a death-eater by his fifth year. as if snape hadn’t came up with a curse that slices your body open by his sixth year.
as if the marauders had nothing to do but ruthlessly bully snape all day and all night, because honestly — the marauders map? remus’ monthly transformations? them becoming animagi? james and remus being responsible enough to be headboy and a prefect? them getting good grades? them training bc there was a war going on and they all joined the order once they graduated? all of the things they were busy doing in their personal lives such as surviving and living and being happy?
nah. it all never happened. the marauders’ entire life consisted of bullying innocent, poor service snacks. that was their goal.

In another news I am picturing characters from the trilogy going to Andromeda

More specifically:

-Tela Vasir: would be the asari Pathfinder, good friends with Raeka but always starting shit, half in love with Sloane
-Niftu Cal: THE BIOTIC GOD telling the Archon and other kett: “Fear me, lesser creatures, for I am biotics made flesh!”
-Khalisah Al-Jilani: raising hell if you throw her in jail for doing her job; watch out because democracy and freedom of the press is still a thing
-Maelon: genuinely trying to atone for his mistakes in Andromeda and witnessing a new age for the krogan, he sees them daring to hope again

I want to tell you as a former student, not of your classroom but of someone else's, that we remember the good teachers. Even if we don't remember to send a card, we think of the good teachers who touched our lives and made us better people, and we sure as hell wanna fight for you to be able to have a life outside of ours. Teachers influence us all in ways we can't even fully comprehend and we should stop treating you all like you're Laura Ingalls just waiting for Almanzo to pop the question.

reminders for the young wlw out there
  • it’s okay to want to have sex with a girl
  • it’s also okay to be totally terrified at the thought of having sex with a girl- internalized homophobia affects all of us to a certain extent
  • it’s okay to want to make out with a girl for hours on end (seriously, it’s totally an okay thing to think about)
  • it’s okay to fantasize about girls, even in a sexual way. you are not dirty for doing this.
  • you can absolutely wear clothes that are stereotypically lesbian, such as flannels. in the same note, you can totally cut your hair short if you want. you aren’t perpetuating a stereotype, you’re embracing who you are
  • you can also completely stay away from any clothing that would signify you might be a wlw (especially if you’re in a situation where the suspicion that you’re a wlw could cause you harm)- it’s completely your choice, just don’t shame anybody that does decide to take on that style.
  • it’s okay to not immediately date a girl once you come out. take some time to figure out your feelings, it’s okay. you’ll find somebody that you want to date in your own time, or you can just decide you don’t want to ever date anybody. that’s also perfectly okay.
  • it’s okay to dream about a future with a wife
  • it’s okay to hold your girlfriend’s hand in public and be affectionate in public. it’s not gross or icky, it’s good and cute, i promise.
  • it’s okay to come out to everybody you speak to (there’s nothing wrong with you, and if people judge you, they’re the ones who are wrong), but it’s also valid to only come out to a small select group of people. both approaches are fine.
  • it’s okay to masturbate while thinking about girls. it’s okay, you’re not weird for doing this. it’s a common thing.
  • it’s okay to watch movies or tv shows with wlw, even the ones that are cliche and really cheesy. if they make you feel validated and happy, continue doing so.
  • being a wlw is not shameful
  • you are not broken
  • you aren’t somebody that needs to be “fixed”
  • your thoughts and feelings are valid
  • you are not alone
  • you are loved
