Taken from a retail store forum

Prosecution policies in certain stores! Some of this info could be wrong but this seems to be the general policy on stores from what I’ve gathered. If you notice any errors or have additional information about a particular store I’ll edit it in.

Aeropostale: No chase policy/Doesn’t prosecute/No LP, staff has little or no LP training/Cameras are not actively monitored

Abercrombie & Fitch: No chase policy/Sometimes prosecutes but often will just ask for merchandise back without civil demand/Only LP is staff, some care, some don’t/Cameras are not actively monitored

American Eagle: No chase policy/Will prosecute/Limited LP but will occasionally use plain clothes/Cameras are not actively monitored

Best Buy: Has active and good LP. Will follow you into the restroom if they suspect you, they will also call the police the second they see you conceal something. There is a stationary guard at the entrance who monitors cameras throughout the store.

Burlington Coat Factory: Somewhat dangerous.

CVS: No chase policy but will attempt to get your license plate/Will prosecute/Store managers will sometimes act as plain clothes LP/Cameras are not usually monitored

Dicks Sporting Goods: Poor LP

Dillards: Very dangerous.

Fred Meyers*:

Hollister: Same as Abercrombie & Fitch

H&M: Chase policy and prosecution policy unknown/Very good LP for a small store, even in small stores will use plain clothes or a security guard/Camera status unknown

King Supers: Good LP

Kmart: Will chase.

Kohls: Dangerous store to shoplift at, has active LP who make fitting room stops.

Lord & Taylor*: Will chase you/ Will either prosecute or issue civil demand depending on circumstances/Extremely good LP, plain clothes are used and are often off-duty cops/Cameras are actively monitored.

JC Penny*: Will chase you/Will either prosecute or issue civil demand/LP is decent but not as good as Macys, occasionally uses plain clothes/Cameras are actively monitored

Macys*: Will chase you/Will either prosecute or issue civil demand/Above average LP, plain clothes are common/Cameras are actively monitored

Meijers: Will chase.

Mervyns: Dangerous.

Sears*: Will chase you/Will prosecute, sometimes issues civil demand/Extremely good LP, uses plain clothes/Cameras are actively monitored

Sephora: Will Chase/Will issue civil demand and call police, may prosecute depending on circumstances, will issue a trespass order for 1 year/No plainclothes/No monthly quota on shoplifting aprehensions/Very well and actively-monitored cameras that are full colour, and can pan as well as zoom in/nothing has a security tag/There is one dedicated employee who monitors all the cameras, and has radio contact with all (or just the LPs) staff members in the store/There are generally more than 2 LPs active in the store with the camera guy behind the scenes/LP is well trained and even regular staff has a degree of LP training

Staples: There are two kinds of store layouts. The old store layout consists mainly of rows of aisles, and the new store layout has more of a maze layout like Bestbuy. The cameras in the stores with old layouts are mostly fake, while the newer stores employ several low-profile cameras designed to monitor internal theft. In both stores the cameras are not usually monitored.

Stop & Shop: Chase policy unknown/Will prosecute/Uses plain clothes LP and staff will often look for shoplifters/Cameras are often monitored and are numerous

Target*: Will chase you/Will prosecute, sometimes but rarely issues civil demand/Extremely good LP and employees are given an incentive to look out for shoplifters/Cameras are actively monitored and are very high quality

Walgreens: No chase policy/Will prosecute/Does not have active LP but the staff will sometimes try to act as LP. They aren’t supposed to and can not legally stop you/Cameras are not usually monitored although there is usually one employee in the back room near the cameras, so be aware of that.

Walmart*: Will chase you/Will either prosecute or issue civil demand/LP often poor but ranges from store to store/Cameras are actively monitored/Has a policy not to prosecute under $25

*Stores marked with an asterick are known to enter shoplifters into a national database.“

There’s something beautiful about dead malls. Truly dead malls, or partially dead ones. Mostly empty husks of wide-open spaces, lit with skylights and decorated with empty planters and long-dry fountains. Storefronts, shuttered and shadowy, with the barest hints of what they once were. (Slatted walls were once Waldenbooks. Sprawling carpets with once-neon-pink-swoosh designs in abandoned FYEs. Signs and abandoned merchandise hinting at less recognizable names.)

The partially dead malls, I think, are more beautiful, though. While the dead malls are locked and forgotten—caved in and rotting from the inside out—the partially dead malls are dying specimens. A Macy’s with clothing racks huddled into a corner. A Bath & Body Works sandwiched between the dusty shutters of a former Aeropostale and the faded signage of a small-name clothing boutique. Food courts empty save for the one faux-Chinese place that’s always the last to go. The carpets are spongy and reek of both mildew and that signature odor all malls have. And in the hazy afternoon sun filtering through dingy skylights, you see the elderly ambling on down dingy corridors, passing by the benches where their children spent their teenage years. You can almost hear the dying breaths of three bygone decades in their footsteps, in the distant sound of music by artists you haven’t heard in twenty years, in the hum of the building itself.

There is always a Spencer’s. Of course there is.

Jeanne will you adopt me as your protégée?

I will but you will have to pass the acceptance mission. More specifically you will have to drink a whole bottle of red wine and then bake a cake that’s at the very least a solid 7 out of 10 within the span of two and a half hours, all while wearing a white shirt and a black skirt or pair of pants. I don’t adopt just anyone.

*Isaac Lahey* Caterpillar

Isaac Lahey X Girl

Plot:  Isaac get intrigued by a mute photographer. The way Bella communicated without talking was interesting, unfamiliar to him.

Word Count: 1,713

The sky is bright blue with a few white clouds decorating. The soft breeze from the wind felt nice on my heated sun kissed skin. The dog park was bigger than I’d expect it to be, but I liked how spacious it felt.

I held my Canon PowerShot in both my hands waiting for something to catch my eye. The straps of the camera hung lightly on my neck as I looked around the park.

Across from where I stood was a stunningly beautiful dog. I recognized the breed as an Australian Shepard, the dog’s fur twirled through the wind as it ran to its owner. It sat right in from of a couple around their late 20′s.

I mentally smiled as I thought of taking a quick picture. I headed towards the couple feeling the soft grass from under my grey Timberlands crunch. They smiled at each other as they seems to be in a good conversation.

They both looked up noticing me approach them, They stopped their conversation to give me attention. I pulled out my phone and unlocking it, I clicked on notes and typed.

‘Do you mind if I take a few picture of your dog?”

I showed them the question I had, they read the screen and answer. “No, go ahead.” The lady had answered calling for her dog to come sit in from of me. I smiled towards them as if to say thanks. I returned to the dog and kneeled down, taking a closer shot.

The first shot was the left side of the dog’s face, a piercing blue eye that looked almost white stared into the lens. The one ear up as if it was commanded to be. I took a few more shots with different angles to see which one would look better in the end.

I let my camera go knowing it be hanging from the straps. I scratched behind the dog’s ear as a thanks for staying still. I stood up and smiled at the couple before walking on again. Back to square one, looking from something interesting.

A presence came beside me on the left, I didn’t think much until the presence stayed. I looked to the left to notice a tall guy walking with me, he wore a navy blue and white baseball tee. He’s looked attractive in a few ways, but why was he here beside me?

“Beautiful animals aren’t they?” He asked as his blue eyes stared forward. I looked behind me to see the dog I took pictures of sprawled out. All over the couple’s laps as they laughed together.

I nodded, when I was younger I didn’t talk for different amounts of time. It stuck after a while, my parents got use to it after a year of me not speaking.

“You don’t talk, okay. I can handle that, I think anyways?” He sounded unsure of himself, I giggled finding him cute and funny. “I made you laugh, that’s a good sign.” He said rounding in front of me, stopping me.

I gasped at the sudden action, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.” He chuckled, I shook my head saying it was okay. “I’m Isaac,” He mumbled taking out his hand.

I pulled out my phone again and typed my name in, I showed Isaac and took his hand in mine. “It’s nice to meet you Bella.” He smile. I smiled back as I noticed him becoming a little awkward.

“Hey Isaac.”

Isaac turned around as I look over his shoulder, a tall lean and muscular guy stood a few 20 feet away. He had dark brown hair almost a black, he had brown puppy dog eyes. His jaw was slightly crooked, but he made it work.

“This is a dog park, not a place to pick up girls!” He yelled to him, a few people looked our way causing a slight scene. I blushed under the glance of the strange guy.

“I wasn’t, Scott!“ Isaac yelled, "I’m sorry I have to go.” Isaac pointed behind him towards Scott. I nodded with a smile, “Again it was nice meeting you.” He smiled one last tome before leaving.

My door creaked open as I snugged more into my fluffy blanket and pillow. Feeling like I was sleeping on cloud 9, nothing in the way. Well until I remembered I had the most wonderful best friend, the sarcasm still flows.

She yanked on my blanket but I held on tight, Macy didn’t care. She yanked harder until I fell on the floor, I held in my squeal and curled into the blanket.

Macy sighed as I heard her boots click around my room. “I know you’re stubborn, but we’re going to the Café.” Macy said as I felt something heavy suddenly drop on me. “Get dressed, we need to catch the hot guys before it’s too late.”

I groaned and rolled again, of course Macy wanted to go. Macy had just been cheated a few weeks ago, and has been hooking up with different guys each week.

“Come. On. Bella.” She grunted at each pull until the blanket was removed from my body, I cuddled into the rug that I landed on. I smirked as I knew I was getting on Macy’s nerves.

She groaned frustrated-ly as she grabbed my hand and pulled me up. “ Okay now get dressed and get in the damn car.” Macy said grabbing the clothes off the floor and shoved me in the hallway bathroom.

“I’ll grab your phone.” Macy yelled through the bathroom door,

Before I knew it I was dressed and pulled in Macy’s car like I was a rag doll. I get she wanted to get there fast, but this has been happening for over a month.

Her boyfriend, Max and her have been going out for a year and a half. I’d never be able to drop something like that, but he cheated. I could tell the way her green eyes stopped sparkling she was hurting inside. I was giving her space and she never really like talking about deep feelings. With me she usually did though, she use to blow up all the time in the 10th grade.

She parked the car in front of the cafe scoping out the guys through the glass walls. There are a few groups, but nothing big. She sighed before looking at me, “Okay, game on. Shouldn’t be too hard to get a hit and run.” I giggled after she smirked.

Macy ordered for the both of us as I found a booth near the passing cars outside. I always got a hot chocolate with 2 shots of mint, extra whipped cream, strawberry on top, with no lid. I also got a soft chocolate chip cookie, of course Macy already knew that.

Macy took a seat sliding a cookie bag and my hot chocolate towards me. I began to smile brightly, “It still amazes me that this hot chocolate makes you smile. As if a guy had thrown a compliment at you.” Macy had mentioned as she took a sip of her coffee.

I rolled my eyes at her, taking my phone out of my pocket.

‘Well because guys don’t just throw a compliment at a girl who doesn’t speak.’ I texted it to her.

She glanced at her screen, “Okay, but the whole guy thing is different for you anyways.” Macy stated. I shrugged, she’s right. “That’s about to change.” A familiar deep voice spoke up, while I saw my strawberry get picked up and thrown into Isaac’s mouth.

I gasped loudly as I threw Macy a text with an angry face. “Say it to him, that was my strawberry, I was waiting for that my whole morning, Isaac. In all caps with five exclamation marks.” Macy said to him, “I’ll get you another strawberry.” Isaac said while he walked to the cashier.

“Isaac?” Macy asked with a hint in her voice. I rolled my eyes again, “He’s attractive. Though he seems like he knows you.”

‘Last week I meet him at the dog park while I was taking photos.’

“And you didn’t think to tell me?” She asked me.

I shrugged, “You didn’t think you’d see him again did you?” She asked seeing a little deeper. I shrugged and nodded again. Yeah I didn’t think I’d see him in the cafe let alone ever. “Isaac is coming, I’ll leave you two alone.” She smirked.

My eyes widened as she walked off before I could signal her back. I should have seen her trying to play cupid a few minutes ahead of time. Macy had done it a few times before, but she stopped awhile ago.

Isaac slide into the spot Macy was recently in, “So I got you 2, your face kind of killed me. you had this terrified expression on that cute face of yours.” He explained making me giggle.

“Cute face, cute laugh, what else you got?” Isaac asked with a sweet smile, I couldn’t help but smile.

‘What happened to the awkwardness?’

He glanced at the screen, I took one strawberry off the napkin Isaac came back with. “I already met you, Caterpillar.”  He can’t be serious right now, I thought about it as I chewed on the red goodness.

‘Caterpillar? That’s not even cute.’

I furrowed my eyebrows at him “What?” He chuckled with a beautiful laugh. “You’re a caterpillar now, but you’ll become a butterfly sooner or later.” He said glancing at the 2nd and only strawberry left.

‘NO’

“It looks so good.” Isaac moaned for it, I looked at him with sad puppy dog eyes. Did he realize it was mine? He grabbed it opening his mouth, he stopped and looked at me with fake concern. “Wait did you want it?” He asked.

Was that even a question? Of course I wanted. I nodded, “Too late now it’s mine .” He said slowly inching the strawberry closer to his lips. Nobody teases this no talking queen.

I stood up reaching over the table and yanking the strawberry out of his hand.  Throwing it into my mouth smiling a toothless grin. He looked at me surprised as I sat back down.

“Huh.” He said still shocked with his tongue wondering inside his cheek. “I’m not gonna mess with a girl and her strawberry again.” Isaac commented, He began to chuckle as I joined in.

I liked talking to Isaac, it felt good talking to someone other than Macy. We talked about anything and everything we could. The closing time was our hour glass.

So I went to Macy’s today, right. I got 2 shirts from the men’s department (a plain red v-neck short sleeved one and a Star Wars one). Anyways so I check out in the men’s department and the guy (as in man) casually asks me “so who are you buying these for?” (because i’m a female-passing individual) and I’m just like

Like, dude…  Seriously? For fuck’s sake, they’re only shirts!!! The shirt’s not going to know what gender I am, so what’s it to you?!?! Also, can girls/women/female passing folks not like Star Wars?? SMH. (Sidenote: Maybe if Macy’s made women’s star wars shirts that were worth a shirt I would have considered getting one!!) Fuck gendered clothing though!!

I'm going into seventh grade this year and I need some ideas on clothing and shops to go to or buy. Any ideas? I don't wear a lot of shorts and never wear skirts or dresses and any colors do me i'm not really picky.

Hey! For some places to go I would suggest: (I hope that you live in America for these because I am not to sure if they are located outside the U.S.)

  • Target
  • Forever 21
  • American Eagle
  • Macy
  • Kohls
  • Any other clothing  store that is in your area I guess

As for what to buy I would suggest getting the basics! Like a couple pairs of new jeans they could either be skinny or regular fit that is up to you and some other type of pants that is not jeans i.e. legging or sweatpants! Also some cute tops like some blouses, V-neck shirts, loose fitting tank tops that can be worn with a cardigan or a jacket, some knit sweaters for the winter time, and some loose fitting long sleeve shirts for those lazy days! Maybe even a cute jacket that can go with many things, a good one would be a green army jacket or a bomber jacket of some sorts! Also maybe look at some getting some cardigans that can be worn on a cold day! Also I am going to add in accessories as well cause why not lol! Maybe look at getting some scarves to go over the tank and wear with the jacket or cardigan!

Here are some examples:

Chris-C, Y/N-Y, People Magazine-P

You and Chris have finally become first time parents to a beautiful baby girl, you both decided call Maci. It’s been two months since you had her and the paparazzi have been trying to get the first photos of Maci. It has been difficult and tiring not just for the two of you, but also for your families and friends, who are also being hounding by the paparazzi. Anytime that you do take Maci out of the house, she is covered by a blanket over the carrier. You have taken to going out alone to run errands just so Maci is safe.

After a long discussion with your family, you both decide to introduce Maci two ways. You decided on Ellen and Chris decided on People Magazine. Chris worked it so that a few days after the People Magazine article is released, you’ll all go on Ellen. With the People interview and photo shoot in a week, you head back to L.A.

The day of the People shoot and interview, the house was full of people getting everything ready. The photo shoot was going to happen first, then the interview. You were up in the nursery feeding Maci. Chris had told everyone that the upstairs was off limits. Chris came in just as Maci was finishing up. He had an armful of clothes for Maci that People had sent over. As soon as he walks in, he scoops Maci up in his arms and burps her, while you look through the clothes.

C. How are my girls?

Y. I’m nervous as hell and Maci is bathed, fed, and ready to meet the world.

C. They are going to love her.

Y. Who wouldn’t love her? She’s the most perfect baby.

C. So which outfit are you going to put her in?

Y. These are all too fancy, I was going to put her in her purple short sleeve onesies with the butterfly and shorts?

C. I love that on her, put her in that.

Y. How about you change her and dress her while I finish getting ready?

C. Okie Dokie.

After you are ready, you both head down to do the photo shoot. After about forty-five minutes that’s done and now to the interview. Chris has put Maci into her swing while the both of you talk with the interviewer.

P. First off, I’d like to to thank the two of you for deciding on us, to debut you daughter.

C/Y. You’re welcome.

P. So how does it feel to be parents?

C. It’s the most amazing feeling ever. Every time I look at her, I fall more and more in love with her, and she’s mine.

Y. I can’t believe I had her. I pinch myself everyday. It’s a true blessing to have her in our lives.

P. I know what you mean, I have 2 of my own, and I’m grateful everyday to have them.

C. The unconditional love that’s there. I can’t wait to see her first steps, her first words.

Y. Having Chris in my life, I felt complete, but now having Maci, I’m definitely complete.

P. I hear that there’s a story behind Maci’s name? Do you mind sharing that with us?

Y. Back home in Boston, where I use to work, a co-worker and really close friend….(you take a deep breath, and Chris grabs your hand)….she died from breast cancer. She never got to know I was pregnant, so to honour and remember her, we used her name.

C. Maci Elizabeth Evans.

P. Wow! Thank you for sharing that with all of us. So are you going to raise Maci here in L.A. or in Boston?

C/Y. Boston!

P. Why is that?

C. We want her to have family around her and we are both from the east coast, and (Y/N) is from Ontario, Canada. Plus we don’t want to raise her in all the hectic and craziness that L.A. is. We want her life to be as normal as possible.

P. Are you going to have more kids?

C. Yes! I want a house full.

Y. (Laughing) You want your own football team.

C. (Laughing) Ya, I do. I think we should start trying again tonight.

Y. (Laughing) You’re sleeping in the guest room tonight!

C. No, seriously maybe 3 or 4.

Maci woke up, crying and hungry, so you take her back up stairs and feed her, while Chris continues to talk with the interviewer. Again after feeding and changing Maci, you are both back, but you give Maci to Chris, because she’s not wanting to go back into her swing. Now you join back into the interview.

P. So (Y/N) Chris tells me you were a fan when the two of you met?

Y. Yes, for about 15 years, the first time I saw Not Another Teen Movie in the theatre, I was in love.

P. Do you have a favourite movie, character, photo?

Y. My favourite movie is SunShine and character is Jake Jensen from The Losers and photos, well there are so many, but then I have Chris to look at.

Just then Chris gets up and goes and gets your wallet, and shows the interviewer a photo in the wallet.

C. This has been in every wallet she’s had. It’s from the Rolling Stone interview I did in 2016. It was just before we met.

Y. Look at it, he’s laying on the floor, tight blue t-shirt, blue jeans, boots, James Dean hair style, legs open, with one leg up, arm above his head, he’s looking up and away, his jeans are sliding down in the back, with his shirt running up. How can you not love that photo?

C. (Laughing) She has it to memory. Never looked at it once to describe it.

P. I have to admit, those photos are pretty damn sexy.

C. (Blushing) Thank you.

Y. (High-five the interviewer) I know right!

The interview went on for another 10 minutes. The interviewer said that she’ll send a copy of the photos and article over when it’s done for your approval in a few days. Then everything was packed up and they left. Chris put Maci back into her swing and rejoined you on the couch.

Y. I can’t believe you showed her the photo!

C. It is your favourite photo, plus you had it in the hospital as your focal point, and I was right there beside you.

Y. You’re sexy as hell in those photos, but you’re even sexier now with the bits of grey in your beard and hair.

C. I need to fix that.

Y. Please don’t. I love it.

C. Well maybe for now I’ll leave it.

Y. Love you.

C. Love you more.

You both just relax and drift off to sleep until Maci decides to wake you both up.
