6 ALARM INDUSTRIAL FIRE IN FAIRFIELD, CA
It’s all over the local news right now that MACROPLASTICS has a 6-alarm fire happening right now in thier factory. (This place is about 2-3 hours from my house.)
The company makes plastic bins and flooring using highly toxic platics like Polyethylene, Polypropylene, and Polyurethane. The boxes were folded and stacked into storage, with holes in the bins. The way they were stored and the highly flammable material is actually fueling the fire.
These materials are hydrocarbon based, which means oil based, which means that this is now a petroleum/oil fire and there isn’t much that they can do to put it out.
The melted plastic is going to be highly toxic once it melts, and the toxins being tossed up in the smoke are dangerous enough to warrant both an evacuation for a 1-mile radius and inspectors from the EPA taking canister air-samples before the fire is even out.
The cloud is thick and black and looks like something out of a volcano. it’s not normal. The fire is hot enough to be creating a 60-70 MPH wind which is trying to suck everything into it.
